Oh goodness didn't even notice that haha but a woman did tell us later that day to watch out for the red and white or you'll be paying a fine/ticket haha
Hello, thanks for the video. We are planning our first trip to Thailand. All the amazing reels on Instagram make us want to travel to Chiang Mai, but wanted your honest opinion. Is it over hyped? should we visit some other place instead? Or is it really worth coming to Chiang Mai? Thanks.
Great vlog!! We just subscribed. We are traveling to Chang Mai in April and were wanting to know if any mask rules are still in place. Thank you and have a great day
Hey! Thanks so much for subscribing!! We didn't have to wear masks at all during our time in Chiang Mai, in the bigger cities like Bangkok everyone is wearing them but no so much in Chiang Mai. Have a great time in April!!
Just came across your channel, good stuff. Question. Are you two on an extended documented vacation? Trying to turn travel into income? I'm just curious ... there are lots of young couple out there doing this stuff and it is interesting to get insight into what is going on. Love Ireland by the way been there several times to both Republic as well as NI. We are from Canada, both world travellers much older than you two, (we are 50's) and getting ready to early retire. So interested in why people document their travels...
Hey thanks so much for commenting and having an interest! We made this plan 6/7 years ago and worked really hope, had a couple of jobs each and just saved, saved, saved! The dream and goal would be that this could become a form of income that we could live/travel from. But regardless of how this all ends out we are having the time of our lives and we are so happy to have all these videos to watch back in year's to come 🙌🏻
@Eoin and Aisling actually that is considered cheap compared to malaysia. Because we mostly use grab, trains, cars, buses to get around. So bike rental is expensive eg Cameron Highlands.
We found Malaysia was one of the more expensive places for bike rental but the public transport is so good across Malaysia so you don't always need to rent one
Yes! We rented a bike from chiang mai drove to avoid the bad travel sickness as we heard the bus journey is rough with all the bends. Definitely worth visiting it, is a lot smaller than Chiang Mai and the countryside is so beautiful. If yous have time I would say visit!
We went out to a few of them in the days after this video and we loved them! And we know we still didn't get to see all of the amazing temples across the countryside
Hey guys welcome back!!! Chiang mai is my hometown hehe don't forget to try Namprik-ong, Khao-soi Kai, Lab moo Nue, Sao oue , Yam Gin Kai ,Khanom Jeen Nam Ngeow ...those are the popular food from North of Thailand 😄😄😄😄
Try to make it to Pai, which is a half-hour flight or three-hour drive over the mountains from Chiang Mai. It’s a little touristy town with lots to offer as well ☺️👍🏾
You should try Boran coffee, Thai traditional style coffee, from street coffee carts (Don't forget to tell them not too sweet). Normally Thai style restaurants will serve Nescafe coffee which is meh. And to feel the vibe in CM, you should order Khao Soi, not Pad Thai🤣🤣
Thai coffee are always sooo sweet and even sometimes when you say not too sweet haha but we still love them....also we have had some many khao soi oohhhh they are so good, we try our first one in the next video!!!
@@EoinandAisling I followed you guys since you have hundreds followers. Seems like 1 year later, your attitude about Thailand have changed since I sensed negative energy.
@@mtha7796 oh wow I'm sorry if it comes across this way because we really do love Thailand. In this video I know we were a bit more tired due to our long travel day but the love is always there for Thailand 🇹🇭 but thank you so much for following along from so early in our UA-cam journey 💛
Wat Prathat Doi Suthep and practically all temples in the North and in Laos as well have two Nagas (mythical serpent-like beast living underworld) guarding the steps leading into the temple. It is believed that Naga King is the underworld ruler and is a devout Buddhist disciple. Thus, sometimes you can see an image of Buddha meditating under the tree with Naga King guarding behind with his 7 heads above Buddha's head to protect him from wind/rain. There are also standalone Naga statute along Meking River on both sides of Thailand and Laos, the most famous of which is at Nakhon Phanom with 7 heads. It might be noted that one of the largest royal barge of Thai King has 7-heads Naga as its head. The mortal enemy of Naga is Garuda (a mythical flying beast) which is supposed to be God Rama's mount. Indonesia and Thailand deem Garuda as high class mythical beast and Indonesia's National Carrier is "Garuda". Garuda is also the official symbol of Thai King, thus official document would have Garuda symbol at its head. When there is an official royal announcement from the King or Palace, the initial TV screen features Garuda for a minute before the royal text appears together with reading sound.
Wow this is so interesting to learn about! Thank you so much for your comment and knowledge. We have visited quite a few of the temples in Chiang Mai and they have been so fascinating and probably some of the busiest temples we've ever went to!
I prefer Chiang Rai to be honest. At least the locals seem to do business for the sake of doing business irrespective whether the customers are locals or foreigners. Chiang Mai begins to feel that the the businesses there are established solely for tourists as I hardly see any locals buying anything either at stalls or the malls.
As an Expat in Chiang Mai Thailand for 45 years I see that this pair of Irish Tourist remind me of how Irish Nationals look down on Irish Americans visiting Ireland. As a couple you are so typical and think that you are the first to inform the World of the pleasures of Chiang Mai, not pathetic but as young Americans say "Cringe"
Oh wow, definitely don't consider ourselves cringe 😅 this was simply our first day out, after a crazy travel journey and we stated we weren't fully exploring Chiang Mai in this video. It's a pity you 'look down' on us for being a happy, chirpy young couple simply enjoying ourselves
1:57 white & red color on sidewalk edge meaning don't stop or parking😅😅

How much was scooter rental?
We got it for 200 baht a day which was must cheaper than any other ones we stopped with. Alot of the companies were coming in at 300 baht per day!!

I definitely think the temples and the countryside has a lot to do with the big appeal to chiang mai for sure
