    The animals are in a pretty good condition. The monkey nearly enjoyed Curtis nice breakfast. The gentleman guarding the camp are so nice and professional. The memorial is so nice. Huge tracks of his good work left behind. The crocs are wild. Amazing creatures. Thanks this trip was stunning. I will wait tomorrow to get on board

    You two share my husband and I’s love for the Kruger. We used to live just a 30 min drive away, but unfortunately have not been back for many years as we now live in the UK. Thank you for making us feel like we are there with you. Our own personal Kruger holiday from the couch.

      We choose to make and share our videos and it's such a joy to hear from folks who love and appreciate Kruger as much as we do, and who enjoy our videos. It makes the long hours and days of editing totally worthwhile! And if we can make you feel like you're right there, we couldn't ask for anything more. Thank you for watching from afar, you can look forward to a longer Kruger holiday from your couch, continuing on Monday. 😍🚙

      We did indeed take it super slow this time around because we didn't have to pack up every morning to move on to the next camp. 🚙😁 After an absence of 19 years, we're happy that we covered all the camps though (except of course some of the bushveld camps, which were just too costly) so that we could make a decision on which camps we'd like to stay at longer the next time. I'm glad you're enjoying this incredible place with us.

    So good to see another day in Kruger. Those monkey's are the reason I've never had a picnic meal at Nkhulu. I've seen them steal a whole loaf of bread. Good to finally see Sonia. Keep enjoying and sending us videos.

    • @DustBugsTravel
      @DustBugsTravel  Місяць тому +1

      Like you probably heard Sonia say in our video, we feel very strongly that the monkeys are most certainly not to be blamed for the situation at Nkuhlu. It is sadly a situation created entirely by humans and their behaviour and now we just have to live with it. From what we witnessed on this trip, the same behaviour continues which will continue to exacerbate the problem in the environment which the monkeys call home. We will never stay away from Nkuhlu though, we're just too happy to be in their company. 😍🐒 I hope you enjoy the rest of our Kruger visit as much as we did. 🚙🤩

    I had such a chuckle at the Alligator Bridge and Camels. Just an observation: The Egyptian Goose getting irate at the little crocodile might have had eggs or recently hatched chicks close by. They can be very protective of their young. It was a very interesting sighting.

    • @DustBugsTravel
      @DustBugsTravel  Місяць тому +1

      We literally found ourselves calling Crocodile Bridge Alligator Bridge sometimes after that cool encounter with the tourists. 🐊 The Egyptian Goose definitely seemed alarmed, so we were also convinced it must've had something to do with their young. I never got to see or hear the croc slap into the water like Sonia did, but I'm sure that was enough to alarm the goose. 😨🦆

    YES, Dusty & Sandy & … SONIA 🎉❤. Geweldig leuke en bijzondere verrassing Sonia om u ook even in beeld te zien! U bent immers 100% onmisbaar tijdens onze DustBugs avonturen. Al is tot nu toe de leopard steeds zojuist foetsie als jullie Kwid ter plekke is 😅, jullie spotten steeds weer andere mooie dieren en zeker de vogels. Prachtig de optocht der waterbuffels, zelfs 2x, en ook de olifanten en nijlpaarden kunnen er wat van deze keer. De baby dieren zijn en blijven zo lief om te zien. Ook altijd een vertrouwd en huiselijk ‘beeld’: het bekende tafellaken over de picknicktafel. Geen wonder dat de aapjes gerichte pogingen doen om te smikkelen van de potjie resten 😋. Op internet heb ik er inderdaad meerdere recepten van gezien en moet dus eigenlijk nog eens terug naar Zuid-Afrika om dit gerecht ter plekke te proeven 🇿🇦

    Yes elephants are pachyderms, I think it has something to do with thick skin. Rhinos and hippos are also pachyderms. What a magnificent kudu!! Looks like he is posing for the camera 😅 Never a dull moment when monkeys are around! 😂 So entertaining, but people shouldn't feed them. Thank you for all the beautiful animals particularly the elephants, oh the babies are so cute!!! Gosh, those huge rocks are impressive! They look like giant frogs! And one tortoise. So lovely to see you, Sonia. You are beautiful! 😍 Love you 😘

    • @DustBugsTravel
      @DustBugsTravel  Місяць тому +2

      Pachyderm is a new one on me, I can't say I've ever heard (never mind used) that word ever before! 🤭 Those kudu bulls are just the most magnificent antelope with their majestic horns, especially when they tilt their heads back. 😍🦌 We saw quite a few folks (local and international) feed the monkeys (and birds) on this trip and it's just beyond us. Us humans make them used to food and then we call them naughty afterwards. I'll never understand humankind. 😏 Sonia says thank you for the kind compliment. 🥰

    Hi Curtis , Sonia , Dusty ; and Sandy. Excellent video. Im amazed that even on this 4th day, the wildlife is still so plentiful. Great you captured that florescent scorpion thanks to the assitance of the gentleman. Very interesting reaction with the UV light making it fluoresce. I wonder why it does that. Something on the scorpions body that makes it do that perhaps?
    Lovely to see the herd of buffalo crossing the road and river.

    • @DustBugsTravel
      @DustBugsTravel  Місяць тому +1

      I'm glad you enjoyed this one. The number of animals we saw blew our minds and they just kept on coming, especially those buffalo! 😍🐃 I would still love to know how many there were exactly, it was a LOT! We were so chuffed that one of our neighbours went to show us the scorpions in the tree right next to our hut. He's been checking them out for years since someone else showed him. I read on Google that 'all scorpions fluoresce under ultraviolet light. The blue-green glow comes from a substance found in the hyaline layer, a very thin but super tough coating in a part of the scorpion's exoskeleton called the cuticle. 🦞

      You guys need to explore hartebees In North West for more than one day. And thanks for exploring my district (Mopani district)

      Nope, we don't have that kind of luxury when we explore towns and cities. We spend a few hours in each and we move on. That's good enough for us and there are too many other places also waiting to be explored. 😁🚙

    One other comment I would like to make. The pronunciation of Lubyelubye. It intrigued me and so i asked our black ranger who took us on a night drive from Lower Sabie. He said it is pronounced LU BEER BEER. For what it's worth.

      Intetesting. Sounds about the same to me than how we pronounced it. Sonia is quite adept at pronoucing Sotho and she again asked one of the gentleman at Nkuhlu just to be sure and he said that she was spot on. Luckily we're not a language channel. In the end, it's the same place and that's all that counts. 🚙😁

    Your Crowned Lapwing early on was actually a Wattled Lapwing, I think. (The yellow, "turkey flesh bits" are called wattles, and a normal Kiewiet doesn't have them).
    (The way they mess with the common names in the guides irritates me. If you want the "real name" it's the Latin one, and it's fine for the common name to just be a cultural legacy. That gives us things like the Neddicky, for instance - whose common name has probably been "corrected" now. Doesn't make any sense to me. Take the Kiewiet, for instance. There's one very distinct bird called just a Kiewiet. No need to change it (but it looks like they have). Maybe it's just some editor who thinks this way they can get away with being lazy about lists of common names - which are mainly for "detective work" - guessing from what someone who doesn't care for bird books called the bird. In South Africa, you can put "Kiewiet" in the list of English common names in a bird book, because it's an English word, too - just like Kudu - well qudu, apparently, but near enough - is not just a Xhosa word.
    As far as the old English common names of these birds went, they were all called various kinds of Plover. Biologically obviously that's wrong, but a common name is not a biological one. The biological name is in Latin.
    Sorry. Rant over.)

      Thanks for the correction. 🐦 I hear you about the bird names, but we've decided it's way too much of a complicated hobby for us to take it seriously on any level. We'll do just as we've always done. Identify some, misidentify others, not be able to identify most and that's how we have the most fun. It's all about the enjoyment of the entire Kruger vibe for us, not really achieving incredible bird or any other wildlife sightings. We'll take them if they come our way, of course, but that's not hugely important to us. We just love the place, period. If you don't know that already. 😁🚙

      @@DustBugsTravel Just loving the place is the best way to always enjoy Kruger. Absolutely right.
      And a sign of people who feel that way is that they're patient enough to let all the buffalo cross, instead of rushing to keep some appointment, for instance. (Or stopping to watch the impala sometimes, and learning something new about them that people who just "tick them off the list" never get to learn).
      (And why the learning anyway? It's just to add awareness. It's an amplifier for the love of just being there. You spot the butterfly you know, and maybe you know it only pollinates the Impala Lily or something, and then lays eggs that become the worm with the green face. Something like that. All little details that add things to the place. So in the end it's all about loving the place, whether you add in some birding or some insect spotting, or longer conversations with the tortoises than the hasty stop to have.)

      😁 We had several long conversations with tortoises, and countless other animals too! 😍🐢 If you thought even for a single moment that Sonia lets me just pass without her cooing, there is zero chance! 🤩

      As far as Kruger goes, I agree with you 100% and I'm so happy we took it slow this time around. 😍😁 When we explore towns though, it's a different matter altogether and we're always on a tight schedule because we want to visit as many places as we can while on the road. We're not too fussed about missing out on anything in any particular town, but suffer from major FOMO while in our favourite place! 😁🚙
