- Indian tech support scammers called ME while I was at home in New Zealand. Hear me trolling them and abusing them in an Indian language (Hindi). The Govt. Of India needs to crack down on these guys, they're destroying India's reputation!

Durgesh says "These scammers r not only scamming the English people but they're doing the same here in India with us , last week i got a call from someone claiming that he is calling me from my bank n said that they're doing some update in their server system so my debit card will not work anymore n they have to send me new debit card for which I hv to visit bank for applying new debit card but before that they hv to cancel my old card n provide me a cancellation number which I hv to show inside the bank for applying a new one ... So for cancellations he ask me to give him my old debit card information... now understand n I knew who he is so here is a twist you know what I did , I immediately dial 100 ( Indian emergency number ) n give all the information to cops .. now I guess that police man might gave him the debit card information...😂😂😂😂"

I used to work in a night call center ....where there was an IT department .. they used to call people and scam them in the same way ....
When i get to know about this immediately i left that company .

Pakistan too, I spent two months there and almost got ripped off twice, and then literally only get ripped off when I’m in the airport on my way to leave 😂. They got this dumb gora

of course, we do and we ourselves are a victim of these scams, day before y'day one of my friend she got scammed in California as the number displayed on mobile screen as 911 and the other friend's phone screen flashed apple support's call centre number(0800-number), So be careful everyone and do not give any details whatsoever. Haha. Yup, they only call our landline too, and always from an international number. It's best to just unplug the landline altogether.

The best when you can swear back at them in their own language. Love it. It is not just destroying their reputation, but also the opportunity of outsourced work in customer service and anything telephone based can not be done by an indian now to westerners.

My guess is that guy was a North Indian. Accent gave it away for me. *This does hurt me but you're doing a good thing by letting everyone know* Karl 🙂
It's important everyone knows this and understands that Microsoft support never calls you out of the blue AND if they do they there are ways you can verify that. Make sure the number is right, the email ID used and how much they already know about you (assuming you've been in touch with the GENUINE support before, in which case you'll have to give them some details to let them contact you again).
Also, use a good email client like Outlook, Hotmail or Gmail which has decent spam protection at the email providers end itself. ☺️

Well, the scary part is that a lot of people can sound Indian. Pakistanis, Bangladeshis and perhaps Nepali and Sri Lankans to a limited extent. So if someone uses VOIP or has an untraceable number and calls himself an Indian call centre operator, there is no way to know.

There have been a few crackdowns in Mumbai over the last few years over such call centres. The problem is there's just too many of them. It's hard to catch every single one of these people. I wish there was a way. It's embarrassing to the rest of us Indians. Thanks for the upload though Karl. The subscriber list here is mostly Indian so getting the truth out there is important as some of our countrymen are still oblivious to the fact that this actually is happening right now.
