Anthony's take on "podcaster" vs "comedian" is an authentic breath of fresh air. I admire his commitment to his craft and unwillingness to compromise. Much respect to a true comedian!!!
Wow. I didn't realize there was so many basement- dwelling, keyboard warriors in the comments. I just prefer comedians who prioritize performing stand up comedy vs podcasters who occasionally stand up on stage and tell quirky stories.
@@slick_rick_ink For liking comedy, you should definitely be more original than basement dwelling keyboard warriors. Way to show your stupidity while trying to sound smart bud.
Best podcast. Thank you! 💯🙌🏽 Horses are the soldiers of pets; Greggies Choice; holding down your Dad and rolling Tommy Johns up his legs… so many good moments that still crack me up. RIP JRVP 💐
I think Anthony peacing out of the whole comedy podcast scene is honestly a good career move, it's a pretty f'ed up media climate and puts you in the same breath as a lot of overexposed baboons burning their public good will at both ends
i’m a 19 year old female a Mexican american leftist. I assumed your audience would be more diverse. I started watching JRVP since before it went visual. Gonna miss this podcast but was so fun to hear over the years.
Last episode I left a pretty shitty comment, I think it was because I was sad that the show is ending, as if I don't have more than 250 episodes to re-listen to. In the meantime, I have watched the special, and imo, it's his strongest, by a significant margin. However, I don't think that that is in spite of the podcast, but rather because of the podcast. I think it helps his creativity in the good times and creates a conflict for him in the bad times, making him have to creatively problem solve. But what do I know really. Enjoyed every episode, thanks.
Love the special, it was awesome. I really LOVE this podcast. I discovered JRVP after Anthony appeared on Tigerbelly, and it's gotten me through a couple really hard to deal with health situations. I think it shows a more off the cuff on the fly version of Anthony that is just as funny as his carefully crafted standup. Will really suck if it ends, but what can you do.
Without question his miss direction that end up in very familiar directions. Is mind absolutely numbing . On top of his 15 second bobblehead pause after every punchline. Is enough to but anyone to sleep. His genius displayed in every punchline about a physical relationship with a newborn is so original and mind blowingly edgy.
Thanks for the entertainment over the years, I'm sad to see you guys go. I'm pretty sure Anthony is telling us to stay subscribed because he is never coming back and it's a bit for him. Gregg is in denial about it but, hopefully he's right and Anthony does get the desire to do more. This was the only podcast I listened to. Maybe I'll start reading/audiobooking through the JRVP recommendation list or something.
I think that what Anthony had to say about Chappelle is like what he said in "Anthony Jeselnik Doesn't Believe In Cancel Culture | Breaking Bread with Tom Papa" at 42:49 - "It's the second comedy boom, it's not going anywhere, people are making more money than ever before. And Dave Chappelle, who's won every award in the world, is complaining that cancel culture is making his job harder. It's like, your job shouldn't be easy. If you're going to make that much money, hey maybe it should be a little hard."
As refreshing as "im a comedian not a podcaster is" and as much of an issue as I see that as with modern comedy this is a bummer. I agree most people don't need a podcast and nearly nobody needs a second and third podcast with different amounts of comedians. But the alternative is Jeselnik being one of my favorite comedians and now only seeing/hearing from him once every 4-5 years depending on how life goes, who knows if hes doing this at 50, 55, 60. His takes on weekly news stuff was fun. o7
Was just watching the Dan Le Batard Interview and was really inspired by it. Hopefully this Pod continues but at the same time if it doesn't fit with Anthony's creative process, that totally makes sense too. What I enjoyed the most about the Dan Le Batard interview was how much Jesselnik cares about the craft of Comedy instead of all the bells and whistles of the business. As a longtime (I guess struggling lol) Radio Host, I find it so refreshing for an artist to care about the actual craft instead of all the click-bait Bullsh*t. And above all, I am so excited to have learned of the movie The Comedian, I am so glad to have heard ya'll mention that film. Nonetheless, AJ's creative mindset has been really refreshing to see, I'm real excited to see what the team has in store, Cheers, RJ
From the WTF interview to this recording you went from 30-40 jokes to 100 jokes. I am happy to hear that you’re back at it. It seems to make you happier It is crazy how many people are making videos to stir up the beef between you and the fans of the “ podcast Giants” I get updates every time a UA-cam video has your name in the title and man its been a busy couple weeks. Not many about the special but tons on the comments you make on this show. I wish you would still do JRVP but I totally understand you taking some time off. I am a day one fan of the pod back in the RJVP. The evolution of the show has been crazy. many different producers along the way. The original segment of did we get any notes where it would be nothing to now it is longer than the normal headlines. I am happy that I got my shirt with the spicy meatball. The show has been a rollercoaster from the beginning when you worried about getting Greg fired from his gig at the NFL, two running a episode of a song looped for the whole duration of the show with no explanation. the drunken pandemic episodes, the Jeremy Renner music shot outs. the lighting debacle. the only listener of the week list you would never want to be on. Aaron finally got your studio All set up and the music bumpers are all queue, just in time for you guys to pull the plug. I’m sure the show will be back again and I will keep an eye out. Thank you for all the great laughs. I keep my Patreon dollars coming and also keep waiting for my un bottled water to arrive. The pee bottle story is a problem not only have I never heard about but same as you guys don’t think have ever heard of anyone doing that. It sounds like the women who wrote this story and found women who have heard of similar stories need to find better men to hang around. Maybe it’s all the same guy. I recall watching free solo and Alex Hannold said something about peeing in a bottle and I thought that was crazy. Even if I’m camping, I get outside of the tent and pee standing up laying down to pee is just unnatural. As far as recommendation station goes, it seems like Aaron and I have similar interests more than Greg and Anthony for sure except for one time Greg pointed out a couple documentaries or a hip-hop pioneer show never once have I agreed with Anthony, but he’s the main reason I love this show. Hope to see you guys soon.
My favorite podcasts are the ones that end as soon as I start listening. Shouldn’t waste that Lebatard Show audience bump though. We are super loyal. Maybe like 10 more episodes then we’ll be hooked and you can pull the plug right when we need your life giving podcast the most. Very funny and dark way to go.
I listen to Anthony Jeselnik because I love his comedy, he is one of the greatest comedians of all times. Unless you consider about 50 other white American men.
Man I’ll miss this podcast. Every single comedian podcaster is so much funnier in this format than any standup I’ve seen of any of them. They hype it so hard as some ultimate art form but these podcasts are wayyyyyyyy more interesting and funny 🤷
I knew there was a breakup involved. Anthony seemed so angry a few months back, and I knew it was more than just travelling and show stress. I wonder if the strain of that helped to end this podcast. We love the podcast because we want to laugh and feel part of your conversations with Gregg. We need this, not Rogan.
I wondered the same, and then in the LeBatard interview Anthony mentioned that 'you just want this person to get away as far as possible from you', aaand he stopped mentioning Liz. It's crazy how the beginning of the relationship was immortalised on the Howie Mandel podcast. Jeselnik was so giddy before going on a date with her that he overshared and talked about how he ditched another woman for Liz. Well, this should teach everyone a lesson. Anthony is a man child.
Not big on podcast..unless it’s like a scary story telling bs one. But I found this like 5 episodes ago and now I’m mad and hurt. This is one I actually finished end to end each time. Just enjoyable. Plus Greg seems sweet..Anthony is a POS and I love him for everything. My top 3 fav comedians. Easily.
Greg really highlighted his misunderstanding of this show's fanbase while he was reading the emails. Like did Greg really never wrap his around the fact that Anthony IS THE SHOW. Greg you're the host....Anthony is the talent that everyone wants to hear from. HIS LIFE, HIS STORY, HIS JOKES, HIS FAMILY. That's what the fans want to hear. Not about how you and your wife went out for dinner and a movie. Sorry, it's just the facts. As evidenced by the emails that were sent directed towards solely Anthony. just being honest
Wikipedia: "He is known for his dark comedy style, which emphasizes ironic misdirection, non sequiturs, biting insults, an arrogant demeanor, and a stage persona that frequently takes amoral or psychopathic stances." I love dark comedy, I am old (52) white male from Caucassia (born and raised). Wish you most productive inspirations.
I'm searching for this episode on UA-cam and have to get around so many corners to find this episode. Your channels page isn't even working right. No bs
The reason no one asked for Greg's recommendations in the emails is because he will still be online and podcasting... Unlike Anthony who isn't doing pods anymore. Greg could just recommend books at the end of his NFL pod
My timing sucks- 1st episode for me - like just read end of good book first...like getting to best party on New Years Eve 12:15. Big fan bittersweet but looking forward to what is next.❤
