Found your channel and I want to say thank you for explaining very well what it takes to complete this exam and what to expect. I’m studying for the core 1 right now and I’m using Jason’s practice exams and professor Messer videos to study. Showing how you study really helped me organized my way of learning the material. Thank you!
Thank you, this has given me some peace of mind. It makes sense that it would be more important to focus on the troubleshooting side of things rather than memorizing every little detail. I will be checking out your tools and applying the same study methods you used. Thank you so much!
Totally agree - supplementing additional study resources to your main course is really helpful. Different people will have different ways of explaining things. I'm studying for my A+ from a bunch of different sources, including Mike Myers actual hardcover textbook. Knowing and understanding the material is my goal. Even if I don't pass the first time- I'll know the material to actually apply it in real life. Great video.
Thank you so much for posting , I am about 4-5 weeks away from taking the test. I too have a background in Finances but little IT experience so tools like this real help. Thanks again
Hi, great video! I just wanna say Thank You for sharing your knowledge. The Tool helps me a lot so i dont have to use flashcards anymore :) I am planing to get my exam for core 1 at the end of the October 2023

Thanks so much for checking out the video, and your comment, David! I just finished the Core 2 exam this week, and will have another (shorter) video on that, along with a Core 2 Memory tool. I should have that out in the next couple of weeks, if you are interested.
@@tektoc studying like mad. I'm in a program at the local community College. Major test anxiety. Wrapping up in a couple of weeks. Every bit helps. I admire your confidence.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Solid content, good video. I'm actually going to take a gander at your tool, it looks to have a strong potential to benefit in many ways. I'm currently working towards Net+. Much of the information correlates but very different objectives of course.
I failed the Core 1 exam twice so far, once I may of not been prepared correctly but the second time the mouse was moving all over the screen by itself and I was a little skeptical of that considering the scores were within 10 points of each other which is fishy to me, given that I have seen the test and my score shouldn't be dropping after I have experience with the test. I'm hoping that by going to a different test center that I would have a higher chance of being successful this time around. I'll try this as part of my studying, and i'll hope for the best.
I found this video very helpful, and I also found the memory tool exceptionally helpful. Did you make your trouble shooting notes available? If so, where can I find them? I would love to review them. I'm taking my core 1 exam in exactly 1 week! Thank you for your video! I'm glad I found it!
Glad you found this helpful, and thanks for watching! I did make TONS of notes, but they involved a lot of cutting and pasting of copyrighted material, along with my own added info, so unfortunately I can't offer those to others.
Hello Mr. Hughes! Can you or someone be able to tell if the new CompTIA A+ Core 1 (220-1101) TEST includes PowerShell Labs if any? Thanks in advance for your answers!
Great video!! I am a 51yr old healthcare professional. I am planning my journey down this I.T. path very, very soon! It's time for a career change and I need it lol. My question is: As some one coming into I.T. COLD, with zero tech experience. Would you still recommend the same 6 courses to start my journey with??
Hello, Mike! Generally, the Comptia A+ certification is considered the foundational program for starting in IT. It's certainly not the only path, but it seems to be the most recognized one. That said, the A+ is designed for people that already have a little bit of an understanding of computer hardware and software, even if it's just as a hobbyist. CompTIA has another course called "IT Fundamentals" (www.comptia.org/certifications/it-fundamentals) that is really designed for people with absolutely no computing knowledge or experience. It can almost be viewed as a prep course for completing the A+. I haven't done it myself, but I have heard generally good things from those who have. For you, that might be a better starting point. Keep in mind, while CompTIA is responsible for the examination, you can get cost-effective course material for both the A+ and IT Fundamentals courses from Udemy (www.udemy.com), as well as other providers.
If you never had any experience in IT, or never been studying in college or so, perhaps it will be good for you to do comptia ITF+ and later go for A+, it will be easier this way
Given the nature of the business, I am kind of doubting that they have much in the way of phone support. However, if you go to the "Help" section on the Udemy website, click on a topic, then click on a related topic on the next page, you'll then get a "Contact" button where you can send a request for more detailed help. I contacted Udemy this way once myself and I got my issue resolved pretty quickly. A couple of consumer complaint websites also list (415) 813-1710 as number to call for Udemy customer support. You could try that as well.
Hello! I'm not sure where you are seeing the two different descriptions? The current course for Mike Meyers on Udemy is this one: www.udemy.com/course/comptia-aplus-core-1/?couponCode=ST2MT43024
Thanks for your quick reply. I bought the course (TOTAL: CompTIA A+ Core 1 (220-1101) Course + Practice Test ) 3 days ago. You are right, it is not listed on Udemy anymore
So I took the exam and didn’t get it but have done a quick refresher on everything I missed and have my test on Monday is there anything you recommend for the last couple days before my exam?
At this point, you are probably in a better position to know what you need than I am. I'd keep up with the memorization exercises and practice exams over the weekend, though. It's sometimes surprising how quickly things can slip from your mind. Best wishes for HUGE success on Monday!
When you say 90% , that’s re-taking the same practice tests (Dion/Meyers) and scoring in the range? I’m initially scoring 50-70% on these but I imagine if I re-take the same tests I’ll do much better. Thanks my friend
I’m still studying for the core 1001 as we speak. I know both core 1001 and 1002 are expiring here soon, so should I just start studying for the 1101-1102 instead?
Hello, Jaysen! The 1001 and 1002 are retiring on October 20, 2022. If you haven't passed BOTH exams by that date, you'll be required to write BOTH exams in the new series in order to receive your certification. So, unless you are really confident you can wrap things up in the next 3 weeks or so, you should be focusing your efforts on the new series.
They are really similar. Like 90% of the content is the same. So don't worry, if you were studying for 1001, you will be able to pass 1101, just make sure to learn new things also
"Ever so delayed IT career...." Lol. I'm totally with you in that club! The advice you get from Mike Meyers (and others in the field) is that nobody cares about your score, just the fact that you have the certification. My gut tells me that's likely true, but I have nothing concrete to base that on. In the end, it's a personal decision, but if in doubt, I'd be inclined to not include the score as that's probably more aligned with common practice.
