- Hi Beauts!
Pore vacuums, microneedling tools, dermarollers, at-home dermaplaning, and chemical peels are all products heavily market to skincare lovers as cheap, easy, quick alternatives to professional treatments. But... what are the risks associated with these tools? and are they actually safe? do they work? That's exactly what we're talking about in today's video.
Let me know in the comments if you'd like to see more videos like this!

I don't see you as a party-pooper. It's because of videos like this that I stopped doing home chemical peels and dermarolling on myself. I was a DIYer, trying to save a coin here and a coin there but it's just not worth it. People like you (professionals) have education, science and experience behind doing procedures. It's not as easy as it looks and the risk isn't worth the reward. I saw somewhere that someone had contracted a horrible infection on her skin from dermarolling at home. I have a new found respect for professionals. Thank you for sharing.
Tyari,
Well said 🙌🏻🍑Lisa Peaches Skin Care
Perfectly said! ❤️
Well said, same!
🍑Tyari, Linda, Nina🍑🍑🙌🏻Lisa
You can save coin but ever so often you please pamper yourself ( when you can)with a professional treatment, sometimes it seems as if we are only working to pay bills but when you can spend some for the care and keeping of yourself. One love
I'm glad I was too lazy to try any of this.
Me too!
im glad my parents were too strict to ever let me try this😂
🤣💀 Yes
100% Agree! I see so many DIY treatments gone terribly wrong in my clinic too. Thank you for this awesome video🥰
I love your channel as well 😍
As a fellow esthetician I have seen SO many DIYs go wrong. Our skin is nothing to cheap out on or play with. Please go see licensed professionals please. Thank you for doing this ❤️❤️
What do you think about differin products?
“This is a fork” 😂 She’s so cute...I owe my skin progress to you a lot...much respect from Jamaica 🇯🇲
She has to be clear before someone takes a screen pic and calls it a new craze on tik tok 😂😂 people be wilding
I literally was about to buy a eyebrow razor to try dermaplaning. Got me together real quick. Thanks for the tips sis!
Actually thats not bad because ut removes the hair and some dead skin. Its okay to shave your face love and with shaving any part of your body be care. She was stating that professionals use an actual scalpel. the scalpel removes multiple layers and THAT isn't safe for at home use. A scalpel is a tool used for surgery so It definitely makes sense not to use that at home.
I tried it and it worked for the first few weeks, I did it once a week, then one week I broke out SO BAD. It took a month to get my skin somewhere, I’m still recovering
Same!
S B Everyone’s skin is different but if you want to try again, I would recommend only doing it once a month!! I do it to shave my face (not necessarily to dermaplane), and I find that using alcohol to clean my razor, toner before and after, and aloe gel to shave works for me!
They are fine if your intent is only to remove the hair.
I just found you and you had me at DO NOT DO THESE AT HOME!!!!
I am a holistic master esthetician with over thirty years of practical knowledge with skin and skin products and I’m 54. I don’t do anything invasive to my skin and I don’t even wear foundation or concealer.
I started my channel when I had to close my three holistic skin care salons because of Covid. I have been shocked at what I see on UA-cam! People with absolutely NO knowledge of skin or some that do 🤷🏽♀️recommending things that will absolutely damage the skin. The at home micro dermabrasion machines are not micro dermabrasion. What we do in our skin care salons is professional and not filing the skin. We have seen terrible damage from at home micro derm, micro needling, and derma planning ! I can NOT believe the people doing and recommending micro needling. I could go on and on!
I loved this and I loved you spoke up!!! SUBSCRIBED! 🍑Lisa Peaches Skin Care
I agree the micro needling concerns me. I had nowhere near the amount of experience you do, but correct me if I'm wrong- won't the micro needling be counter productive to creating youthful skin and just cause tiny scars and make the skin rough and hardened?
@@JennsCorner777
Yes! Many of the doctors and holistic practitioners I work with feel it actually breaks down collagen and therefore allows major issues with the skin including the skin ( the largest organ of the body) to get skin cancer easier. I have been reading a lot of published studies that are just coming out. I think people think their skin looks firmer and more plump when in actuality it’s swollen and traumatized. 🍑Lisa Peaches Skin Care
@@PeachesSkinCare GIRL! FINALLY AN ANSWER to my burning question that I have had since those darn things started popping up online. I was like that is not a good idea. I just keep thinking about how peoples skin would be hardened like that of a Rosacea nose. Do you have a website? I'm headed over to your channel right now.
As a fellow Esthetician, I agree with ALL of this! Guys, please STOP doing these "at home treatments" because you're really not treating your skin. Instead, you're causing major damage to the layers of the skin, even if you can't see it on the surface.
And don't forget to wear your sunscreen to prevent sun damage 💜
What do you think about differin products?
Growing up in Jamaica, I saw people around me "bleaching" their skin. A class mate suffered severe burns after her relative forced her to bleach. Since then I have a healthy respect for chemicals and I am horrified when I see people using them at home. That being said, thanks for posting this video because I didn't know how bad derma-rolling was (it is pushed so heavily) I actually considered it then I found out it was needles, no thank you lol. Keep educating us, there is so much misinformation and tricky marketing in these streets.👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🙌🏾
Alarming. I’m petrified of doing any of these in a clinical setting let alone in my bathroom. 🧼🛀🏻🚽
I saw another UA-cam aesthetician promoting these things and unsubscribed because it just didn’t seem safe and kind of like she was shilling for the companies. Plus it seemed really complicated and I was flabbergasted that she would try to explain this to lay people and people actually listened. I’m glad you confirmed my initial thoughts!
can you drop the name?
lmao "lay people" you must go to church :)
Jee Jean I don’t want to blow up anyone’s spot but if you search for any of these devices, you WILL see a pattern from this and maybe a few other people, they talk about them often!
If u see an esthetician promoting it run 🏃♀️ lol
i stopped “dermaplaning” with an eyebrow razor because i would break out so badly afterwards and would cut my cheeks sometimes, thank you for bringing all of this to the light!
Party pooper, where? If anything, you are the life of the "My skin is Poppin"/"Donut Glazed Skin" party.😂
Thank you for willing to share some of your knowledge as an esthetician for free on YT. I appreciate the hard work that goes into these making these videos. ☺️✨💐
Yess thank you! Loved the banana example. Esthetician’s and dermatologist are pricey because they are experts of their craft 😍
I wanted to note this for everyone in the comments- If you have questions about your skin please see a local Esthetician who can tell you what's up with your skin and how to take care of it properly. Maybe it'll have to wait until the Spas are back open but it is so important vs just guessing.
This video is why I subbed. Thank you for your expertise. I can't handle these crazy videos people put online. When I did skincare as an Esthetician no one knew what that was back in 2007/2008. I would have to explain it to everyone, nowadays EVERYONE and their mom thinks they are one ughh. I miss the spa and getting facials and massages during Covid. Microdermabrasion and deep peels always scared me to perform and have performed on me thankfully I didn't really have to do that. I had one job that told me I needed to get a light peel as part of job to know the product. Ridiculous 🙄 what if I was contraindicated? The spa owner had no skincare experience at all, now they're out of business so there ya go there's that. Love this channel keep spreading the word.
Jenn's Corner they don’t even care if their information is credible, they just do it for views and likes. Same for all these hair videos. People at home making all these magic potions.
@@_poetz9738 BWAHAHAHA magic potions that made me laugh so hard. You're 1000 % right!
I did do a glycolic peel at home but I was really careful and although I had no issues I will not do that again. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
So appreciative of all the info you've shared with everyone, you've definitely helped my skin immensely!!
I haven't seen other youtubers make content about professional treatments before, this is really helpful!
So glad I discovered you. Your advice is great and appreciated. Ty and keep the videos coming.
Thank you for speaking up about at-home microneedling and dermarolling. It's also becoming very popular in the hair loss community for men to microneedle their scalps. I don't think people really take the time to consider the risk of infection from these treatments and how serious it can be.
Wow...I wasn't interested in doing any of these but now..I'm so good with my little cleanse tone moisturize routine! Thank you for sharing this
I admire how level headed and informative you are when presenting excellent information. Please continue because you feed me.
This video came just in time, because I too was considering getting some tools to help with some small issues that don’t seem to go away. Thank you so much!!!!
i love how much u care and how u explain everything👌🏼♥️
I've always loved your open mindedness, how easy you communicate and yeah, you're professional. I wonder how anyone could dislike thus video. Trust me, those disliking are people close to you than your veins. I love your channel and I encourage you to keep on. It's been informative to listen today . Thanks girlie. Xx
I got micro-needling done and man or man I looked a HOT MESS for almost two weeks but my skin looked beautiful afterwards. It was done by a Physician Assistant. I would never try this on myself at home. I’d be a damned fool to
This is why I still love you and your channel .. thank you ❤️
Lord!! Some of these pictures were terrifying. You made an excellent point. I'm so glad I watched this.
Yay!!! You're back 💕💕
I was literally planning to try dermarolling...my skin is already damaged...u saved further damage...Thank you so muchhh😍
I really love the bruised banana example when comparing dermarolling to microneedling!
Thank you so much for your honesty and sincerity about skincare.
Much appreciated! Thank for all you do! 💛👑
Omg! All that damage was scary! 🤯 I have really clogged pores around my chin and nose and it’s always been a struggle to keep my skin as smooth as I’d like, so it can be very tempting to do “at home professional skin treatments.” Instead, I watched your video on clogged pores, got oils with lanoleic acid and have been oil cleansing regularly. I’m definitely seen a noticeable difference and smoothness about my skin, so thank you for what you do and sharing your knowledge with us! 😊🙏🏾✨
Yes!!! Thanks for putting out a video like this. I talk to people about this through my work each day, having people walk in with skin that has been destroyed by home treatments 😔 it's so Dangerous how you can buy all of these tools and products online without being educated in the area..
YES! I love that you took time to do this video! I cringe at the things people do to their skin and how often I see these 'popular' bloggers encouraging over exfoliation and unsafe practices. Like you said its their skin but they shouldn't film it for others to follow.
Misha,
I had to comment 🙌🏻
I’m new to youtube and I am shocked at what I see some of these channels doing. It’s unbelievable. I have been a holistic master esthetician for over thirty years and I would never recommend most of the things I see. I’m so happy to see others see that as well. 🍑Lisa Peaches Skin Care
I was an Esthetician not anymore however during my time Michelle Phan was recommending people use kitty litter on their face and I just couldn't handle it lol. Professional skin care should be left to the professionals.
@@JennsCorner777
Kitty litter?
Dear lord 🍑Lisa Peaches Skin Care
@@PeachesSkinCare Snooki has been a second person talking about using kitty litter. I don't know if she recommends it but she uses it on herself.
Peaches Skin Care. Agreed!!! So light exfoliating products(Ordinary, etc.) are ok?
In a desperate attempt to battle my hyperpigmentation, I've actually tried all of these things at home over the years. Luckily, all of them were too weak to do any real damage to my skin. The only thing I got out of it was an empty wallet. Should've just gone to an aesthetician.
Love you so glad your on UA-cam now yay! 🎊🎉💖
Much needed I formation. Thanks for being responsible ❤️
Thank You for your honesty, wisdom and advice. Knowledge is power. You look beautiful keep up the good work!
I love your videos!! You're so informative. I peeped that ending loll
I love her!!! She speaks the truth. Not like other youtubers putting out content everyday, Ni actually takes the time to give us real meaningful information. Thank you
Hi, I always love your content but the music makes you a bit difficult to hear and focus on. Normally the closed captions would make it fine but they aren’t coming up for this video.
I love you! I love how you are not smiling at all cause none of this is a joke! I get people want to save money or can’t afford these services but it’s not worth it long term
Good lookin out...thank you for that knowledge! Will not be doing any of that crap. I have a few derma rollers I hadn’t gotten around to using. Gracious....glad I watched this first.
I'm so glad you talked about this! I've come across the channel Natural Kaos where this youtuber does treatmeants that are meant to be done by professionals on herself. As you said, she has a right to do it, but looking at the comments there are so many people following her footsteps or wanting to do so. I hadn't seen anyone talking about it.
This is where videos like this come in. Doing DIY procedures like the ones in your video isn't illegal, but so many aren't aware of the risks. It was because of a video like yours that I was dissuaded from doing a chemical peel on myself.
It would be great if you kept the conversation going. Thanks so much!
This hair style is so cute on you!
Finally a voice of commonsense. Thank you for doing this video.
I appreciate you sharing this. I myself have done the VI peel and have done microneedling at home and have had great results, but I have also been dabbling in this world for 7 years (I did my first peel then). I have been in numerous med spas, threw away the derma roller after one use, and I have made mistakes that I have learned from. I am all about at home treatments but only with experience, care, and guidance from these med spa visits or other professionals. Some treatments are idiot proof in my opinion, but most are not. It is important to be prudent and investigate them.
I like how you really pointed out the difference of actual dermaplaning vs shaving your face!! So many people think its the same thing and as you stated, its not!!
Thank you so much for this post it was extremely helpful.
Always so knowledgeable 🥰
UR SKIN IS FABULOUS OMG
Thank you so much for all the great advice! 😊❤🌸
Great useful info- as always! Thank you
Not a party pooper at all. Its refreshing to hear safe and researched based information. 😊
Yesss!!!
very well thought out and helpful ,thank you.
Thank you bae....keep doing your thing💝💕
Thank you for your Skincare Public Service Announcements (SPSAs)! You are saving someone from doing something reckless. 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
The last bit is soooooo cuteeeee
I really love that you have a passion for skincare. I learned at the age of 16 that marketers will target their demographic, take their monies and sell products are either too harsh for the consumer or ineffective. I was 16(with a part time job) and I used to support a brand called Mary Kay, the representative from Mary Kay sold me a skincare line( cleanser, toner, moisturizer and foundation) however the toner caused my 16 yr old skin to peel (it was too harsh and I told her she still tried to force this product on me)and the foundation was a waste of my money because my skin was as beautiful as yours I didn't need it. After awhile I got wise because this representative only saw me as a way to the next tier of the pyramid. I stopped using the line as it was too harsh for a 16 yr old skin and I found another brand. Needless to say over time I have found an awesome esthetician who has been taking care of my skin almost 15 yrs, sometimes we have to let professionals take care of us, we can maintain the care by what we do at home but not the treatments. I agree with you.
I'm glad I don't do any of these skin procedures. I love that you share your professional knowledge.💙👩🏾⚕️🙋🏾♀️🤗
Thank you for the information and for solidifying my fear of trying those chemical peels on my own. I have always been afraid of messing with my face.
Learned a lot. Thank you!!
Thank you. Good info . Saved me.
I just wanted to thank you for one of your videos on how to properly cleanse your face using products. I hum the theme song to Fresh Prince everytime lol. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for this! I was just informed of the Vampire facial (microneedling) and have been doing a lot of research. I spoke to a friend about it and she said..lol.. she can do that at home with the microneedle roller😳. I left that alone. 🙅🏾♀️
Oh no please send her this video asap!!!!
Your skin is absolutely beautiful!
Omg this is crazy. I just bought a Personal Microdermabrasion tool (PMD) and I haven’t used it yet. I’m gonna return it. This was very educational; thank you 🙏🏽
I have one and like it 😩
Thank you! You are not a party pooper, you saved one more person in doing further research on what chemical beauty products to put on one's face or stick to the safe basics :)
Thank you for the information it was very useful and helpful.
I would love to see you comment on facial steamers! I specifically have one from PUR and want to know if I should ever use it again.
Thank you for educating.... ill just go to the spa! 🧖🏽♀️🧖🏽♀️🧖🏽♀️ you look amazing btw
We NEED more vids sis! 😩
This is great. Thank you so much!
Sis knows her stuff. Love it
Thank you for all of your wonderful advice! Btw: you are so BEAUTIFUL!
Solid advice ✔️👍🏾
Thank you for this!!
Awesome job. I have seen some ppl brag about chemical peels and all the skin coming off not realizing the more peeling doesn’t mean better results 😩
Great video, I was thinking of getting that Ordinary Chemical peel, but changed my mind after seeing this video. Will be looking for a dermatologist or esthetician in my area.
Loved the content❤can u do a video on physical sunscreens for skin of color..less white cast or tinted ones🌞
Thank you for educating us
Thank you Nai ! Very informative:)
Thanks for this! Please eventually do a video about high frequency facials. I’m fascinated by the idea, but I don’t want to accidentally perform ECT on myself! 😂🤣
I am currently attending esthetician school! I would love to see a Microdermabrasion video from you (: !
Love your tips.
Please please please please...do a video on clearing up dark spots from break outs. Please breakdown what acne means on certain part of your face. Do a video for treating teen acne. Love you and thanks in advance
Dr Alexis Stephens has a lot of videos on these topics :)
I ain't curious no mo. Thank you!
🤣🤣 you good ehh
Sending this to my miss sister! I could not risk my face to at-home treatments!
not a party pooper at all!! sis give us more videos like this we need to be educated! so many people show how to do skincare and not really teach us about what’s good and bad for our skin. more videos like this would be great, especially a video on retina and retinols!
This video was great.
Thank you!!!
Hi your videos are so informative, I was wondering if you could do a videos on "The Ordinary" Products. There are a lot of videos of people using the products but there are so many and I'm unsure of the right order in which to use them safely.
Thank you for this video
I haven't seen my esthetician in about 6 months. I miss her. She helps me keep my acne in check.
So informative and helpful. New subscriber 🙂
You are the truth sis and you’re beautiful. 💯💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥🔥
The real important thing is where is the hair from!!!!
The hair is from HairRUs in LA & on IG
Thank you. It is gorgeous, your makeup too
Right!?
Great information on what not to do. I think often some of this stuff is tempting and people think its okay since its being sold or advertised to us.
Great info! Could you do a video on light therapy ( red/yellow/ green etc) on black/ POC skin? Thanks!
Such an important video, gonna have to find a way to sensitively send this to a friend ha. Not gonna lie, I was a little distracted by just how beautiful you look, and omg you have the most perfect nose 😭
