For all the vegans out there: the padding on the BaseBench is REAL leather. I wasn't sure about that when shooting the video (I guessed it was fake leather) so I contacted BaseBlocks afterwards and they confirmed it's real.
Thank you for this video man. I do nordic curls for a long time now, but never had the right equipment. It was always painfull on my ankle and so I didn't do it regularly. The base bench is perfect for that. Thank you for the review and for the discount. Keep up the good work 💪🏼😁
This is the first affordable piece of equipment for Nordic Curls the Rouge Nordic bench is 550 and thats all you can do on it. For 229 this is a good solution if you don't want to build your own.
honestly youtube just recommended your video to me then you've just got my attention because you're good at explanation, so that right now i'm one of your subscriber😄
This does look good, but a lot of these exercises can be done using a regular bench. Thanks for this video as it's given me some good ideas for lower body exercises.
I watched one of your first videos. I like how your patient and have advice from beginners to experts. Your a great fellow and God bless you and yours.
Thank u man! A lot. This is definitely a much more versatile & affordable option when compared with the rogue floor glute machine. Great demonstration of exercise possible with the product too👍🏾
Sorry for coming into the conversation so late. I'm really interested in this BaseBench, but there is a new one the Basebench Pro, that seems to have similar benefits but it doesn't have the actual seat. Have you tried this new one, and/or do you have an opinion about it. Thanks.
Really good review, I like all the exercises that can be done, especially nordic curls, but I was concerned about the build quality. I may pull the trigger and purchase it now.
Amanda Vega having dumbbells certainly wouldn't hurt if you can afford to add them to your arsenal, but I wouldn't say they're necessary for someone just getting started with bodyweight fitness.
Hey Ryan! Been following the channel for quite some time now and you've helped me a ton on my calisthenics journey! I just have one concern about the base bench here that I'd like a little more insight on. When you are performing those incline pushups and dragon flags, the seat seems to be bending a ton. Does this scare you for long term durability or is it built in a way that it bends but wont' break?
Jeff Porter thanks! I don’t have any concerns about the long term durability. It’s designed to handle a lot of weight (230 lbs) coming down and up against the seat. If I can do step ups, squats, etc. on it, I think the push ups are fine. And same with the dragon flags. It’s designed for Nordic curls which put a lot of upward force on the bottom of the seat; I don’t think dragon flags are much different.
Awesome review fellow bald head brother (we takin over he world btw). Very thorough and informative hitting all the points that I was looking for. You got a new subscriber!!
Same for Germany, which is unfortunate. I was looking for exactly such a thing for the hypers as well as dragonflags, because our couch in the living room clearly doesn't like it :(
Hi Ryan thank you for reviewing this product, i was wondering if Baseblocks ship to Australia. I have been impressed with a few of there products that you have reviewed.
I believe they do. I found this on the faq of their site: We are now accepting pre-orders for Australian orders. Email hello@baseblocks.fit for a shipping quote
I wish they put some padding on the bottom of the seat so the nordic curls would happen at the back of the shins than with the feet anchored, it's a bit awkward.
Hi Ryan, yes, I´d like to have this bench as well. It´s a bit pricy though and I am not sure if it´s available in Germany. But - as you mentioned - it is awesome for doing nordic curls. Would be my main argument for buying it. My heaviest furniture is not heavy enough for me, too!! And, great vid as always, Ryan. Thanks.
I'm impressed, it looks like it covers everything but sissy squats and calf raises. Is the bench sturdy enough to handle external loads? I'm pretty heavy and usually do hip-thrusts with barbells and/or sandbags.
Sorry… they just updated to a link instead of discount code. Use this link: BaseBlocks.fit/?minusthegym If it still doesn’t apply a 10% discount at checkout then it might mean you’re buying pro line equipment. Discounts only work on the originals line.
Great review, and I know this is kind of old, but I was just wondering if you find it to be possible to load reasonably challenging deadlifts in the fashion shown here?
Hi such a great video with all the details required. Sir i have been folllowing your channel for an year. Can you please tell me how to built lower chest or that defined shape of chest at home
Getting both hamstring curls and dragon flags in one is amazing, I tried all sorts of things but never found comfortable ways to do them at home. Have you tried doing back extensions on the bench?
Looking forward to your review! I held off on buying the Basebars to see what you think of the B-Bars. If you can please do a comparison in your review!
Nah, you’re a bit tall, my friend. I think your knees wouldn’t be on the padded part and the height settings on the seat would not be ideal for you. Sorry.
Guapoman789 on the right side of the checkout page (where you enter payment info) there's a field labeled "discount code." Enter MINUS10 and click Apply. It should apply the 10% discount.
I just assembled my basebench. I'm a little bit disappointed (this is difficult to explain via text) but my feet are too small to reach the bottom of the base bench while being anchored behind the seat while doing Nordic hamstring curls. This really is a fine piece of equipment, but if you're shorter or have small feet like me, you might run into the same issue.
FYI: You could also simply use any wooden or solid board, and use an old belt to hold your calves down to do nordic curls. Found both of these items laying around the house. Cost = $0 dollars.
Just received the bench, you didn't mention the thin sheet of metal that sits on top. Doesn't feel as quality as you say, awkwardly dents and makes noise if you stand on it. Surface has no grip, you'll slide when doing hip thrusts unless you have shoes. Cushion doesn't align with your butt for hip thrusts and isn't soft enough for your knees when doing nordic curls. Also the weld is poor, it chipped and separated immediately before my first use.
I have experienced the exact same grievances. One of the welds has chipped within 1 use from doing nordic curls. the cushion doesn't line up exactly and it just doesn't feel like a quality made piece of equipment for the price. The thin sheet of metal on top is pitiful. I'm trying to justify keeping it but I believe I'm going to return it.
@@TheUser3D For nordic curls I have been using a spud inc. glute/ham strap on my bench to synch my legs to it and then perform the curls with a resistance band. Other than that I have been waiting on Titan Fitness to have their floor glute & ham machine to come back in stock which I think is priced at around $250.

Hard to find a good Storage GHR rather buying an expensive machine. Hamstring curls machines aren't a good exercise. It puts stress and can cause low back pain.

Hip thrusts
Elevated Glute Bridges
Pistol Squats
Nordic Curls
Banded Deadlifts
Split Squats
Reverse Hypers
Push-ups
Dragon Flags

seems like you can also do banded hip thrusts with the deadlift set up!

Good communication from BB; got added to their waiting list for shipping to Canada. Definite must have for dragonflags, nordics, and hypers
You buy it? How is it for nordics?
Nice review. Very much appreciated.
It would be nice to see a version where one could fold it up. Especially all base products which are good.
Great review

They have a new pro version as well. It’s more expensive but it has round pads instead of of a flat padded bench. Worth looking into.

Very similar to Bret Contreras hip thruster but with padding.
Is it possible to do full nordic curls on this bench or only negatives?

Getting both hamstring curls and dragon flags in one is amazing, I tried all sorts of things but never found comfortable ways to do them at home. Have you tried doing back extensions on the bench?
I have a traditional back extension and also this basebench. There is no comparison--get a real back extension.
It’s sturdy but it’s not made for tall people or folks with long shins. Had to add my own knee padding to do Nordic curls.
Can you use non-Baseblock bands with this item? Also, are you reviewing the B-Bar?
