They kinda did you dirty. Your first post, the discount was less than the email subscription or abandoned cart discount. Today your discount is identical to the discount they advertise on their home page (code hyper) I’m pretty mad about it - but still went through and followed up with customer service your affiliate would at least get applied. They should have just given you a code for additional $10 off or something on top of any other sale/code. Or no code. Thanks for the quick review on this!
With the addition of their leg curl stuff and some minor quality improvements with colored knobs being the most noticeable, along with the huge sale they’re doing as of may2024 it looks like a solid option despite it not being perfect. It’s at least a company that’s taking feedback and making improvements
Love seeing real reviews on this by the likes of you and Joe Gray and not just the QVC influencers. Even with the caveats and tradeoffs, I'm still hyped to make the most of this device. A couple thoughts on reverse hypers. Instead of flat + pad or higher incline + no pad, I'll be curious to try the pad at a minimal angle. And for bands, ankle cuffs + carabiners might be a little more hassle upfront but less frustration overall (if it works). It'll be interesting to see all the uses and hacks people come up with for this.
I've had one for 3 months so far and am blown away at the stability and versatility of it. Does everything it says, minus being a true reverse hyper. Well with the money.
About doing the reverse hyper on this, was the ROM limited and that’s why you don’t see it as a true reverse hyper? Do you think it’s still useful doing it on them?
Nice review! This is really what the industry needs. And I mean home gym companies. Machines that are well prices, portable, that can perform multiple exercises.
Rock solid review. I pre-ordered a few months back and am stoked to see this content. I’m of course a little bummed about the news on the reverse hyper. I already have a small Nordic bench from BaseBlocks so am going to be using FA for mostly the other uses like GHD/reverse hyper. Looking forward to trying it out…
Well, you can still use it for Reverse Hypers and it WILL work just fine, is it as good as a dedicated reverse hyper.. no, of course not. But for me personally, it's a fine compromise, as I base my entire homegym around NOT having barbells and weight plates. So this machine is just amazing.
Yeah reverse hyper is one of the only things that you gotta get perfect for yourself and it's usually pricy 😆 I sold all my stuff, I'm looking into baseblocks and this
We are so GLucky that you guys are out there putting all this equipment to task as well as the manufacturers. I had one of these on preorder for months but reconsidered since I have a Scout Hyper and opted for the sturdier, smaller footprint, higher-end build of the Shogun Nord-Ex. Not to say that I would have been disappointed with the Freak Athlete. It is apparent to me, and as you and others have mentioned, that they put a lot of thought into this, they are very creative, and they are very consumer-centric and want to continuously improve their product. THAT goes a very long way and speaks volumes about the people behind the Freak Athlete team. Depending on your needs, I think that home gym or small commercial studio gym owners can’t go wrong with either the Freak or the Shogun.
I'm normally never even comment on videos but thank you so much for doing this video I've been looking into this thing for quite a while never seen anybody actually do a comprehensive review thank you so much for what you and your people do there very informational has made me made a lot of decisions for the best and not wasted my time and money
I ordered mine a few months ago and I've been waiting with bated breath for someone that isn't being paid by freakathlete to do a comprehensive review. I thought for sure it was going to be Garage gym reviews to get their hands on it first. But here we are, Glucks gym knocking it out of the ball park! The review was very fair and reasonable. I'm happy that I ordered it. Obviously saying you can do reverse hypers on it is being VERY generous. But everything else seems to work as advertised. Do you think you will keep your machine? Do you think it has enough value to keep it for the space it takes up? You have a lot of equipment already, and with doing reviews all the time space must be at a premium. Thank you for the review!
Ordered with your code few weeks ago, I just received the v2 version with the colored knobs! I love the versatility and the stability of it, didn’t had time to try all exercices, I plan to add a pulley attached to the resistance band rings & connect it to my inspire ft2 to get continuous tension from the bottom to the top for back extension, reverse… Thanks for the review 😉
Great review. I was on the fence and thinking it may work for my home now that I watched your review. Glad to see how you weighed it down with plates since that's what I'll be doing to use it. You guys rock!
Another great video! I was looking at this and decided to get a dedicated reverse hyper - westside scout. Based on your feedback and video, I'm happy I did. I may buy a dedicated back extension as well. I think it is great to see another company innovate and continue to push the space.
Thanks for the honest review. Mine will be shipped on the 30th this month. I have a private gym with very limited space and even after watching your review im still as excited. 6in1 machine was maybe stretching it but aside from the reverse hyper (unless you’re on the short side) it does everything else as well as advertised. Bang for your buck this is the best multifunctional machine on the market as of today.
Thanks for the review buddy! Very thorough as always! Thanks for calling out the reverse hypers too lol. It seems to do everything else pretty well. Looks like a good buy!
Well a jack of all trades isn't going to do everything perfectly. But honestly for a normal home gym where space is at a premium it seems like a reasonable compromise, esp for the price. (scary that thinking $800 is reasonable. i've bought more than one running car that cost less than that a long time ago).
I've been waiting for this review for a while. The compactness and versatility of the Freak Athlete unit is amazing! However, since I'm really looking for a good reverse hyper, I'll go with the Bells of Steel unit and sacrifice the floor space. Thanks for another informed and useful review!
My Man Gluck Again, you prove you're the GOAT Calling out my exact point about this piece Very Nice Job As you said it is very hard to make all things great about a versatile piece. Even though the reverse Hyper feature falls short, I too think it is a nice addition to a home gym with a lot of things to do on it. Very Nice Job
I'm 6'8 and I've been waiting for this review due to their claims of its ability to fit athletes up to seven feet. Thanks for the review and I can't wait to see cut it in half 😂😂😂
I came back to watch again. You did a much better job on the review than GGR. Pretty sure they rushed their's out for the black friday sales, which is off-putting. I hope people appreciate your thoroughness and use your code for $50 off!
If that was actually REP's foot catch at 11:30, they've done a nice job upgrading. It looks a lot like the Manta Ray foot catch, which would be a significant upgrade over what REP used to offer..
I hate my similar unit by TibBarGuy so much. This looks so much better. Def keeping my pre-order. Already have a West Side Reverse Hyper so that's not an issue. Thanks for the early review. Looks awesome
@@GlucksGym So many things. Packaging was garbage and the box was torn open and items scuffed and the UHMW liner for the tube the foot unit goes in was destroyed and now it's super hard to adjust. The pads are SOFT and have permanent knee dents after first use (and I only weight 160lbs). The vinyl over the padding feels cheap and is loose on the cushion so it moves a little bit right when you get on. It wobbles a ton under use. The ladder style adjustment is quick, but does not feel secure at all and is only locked in there by like 1/4" and seems like an accident waiting to happen. To get to the lowest regressions there's a separately attached pop pin and metal support that aren't stored on the unit and are easy to use and annoying to adjust. There's probably more as I haven't even done any of the exercises except regressed nordics simply cause the methods of adjustment make me so angry to use. So in short, it was a bad purchase and I'm quickly trying to dump it on FB marketplace and patiently awaiting the Freak
Listening to you talk about how you were grabbing the wrong knobs and needing a few extra inches made for a good time. I the reverse hyper end, an angled table with little resistance offered by bands (maybe secured to the table to keep better tension at the starting point) is ideal for a lot of folks that are treating back pain and strengthening your erectors, which a lot of folks are lacking on. Good roll up as always
Thanks Kurt! I tried to review it by emulating everything Freak Athlete has shown themselves. There's definitely creative ways around some of the issues.
I'm leaning towards the tib bar guy nordic/hyper bench. Honestly I just want a quality 45 hyper that stores away, so the Nordic feature would be an added bonus. As a taller person I think I would be frustrated with my freakathlete purchase. Cool concept and I hope to see some other multi use pieces of equipment come out.
Definitely excited to get my hands on this. I mainly want it for the nordics and back extensions, so it looks like I’ll be having a good time with it 😁
It’s almost as if Google knew I was looking at getting one of these (they’ve just become available in Australia! ). Thanks for the honest review. And sorry I can’t use your code unfortunately.
They should make a shorter flat pad that has the GHR dome attached. Im not sure how the flat pad attaches but by doing the above, there would be more free space for your knees and the dome pad would be stable.
Looks like a great machine. If I didn't already have a 45 degree hyper and a GHR, I'd probably get it. Is this a product the knees over toes guy put out?
Can you do a vid noting each characteristic vital to performing a given exercise, in this case, reverse hypers, and given machines and devices that DO emulate the given checkpoints for the exercise.
Does it have a warranty? I checked the link and see they offer a 100 day refund policy, but no mention of warranty.. if it has warranty, i might grab it for $600 with the code you offer
Benji here, founder of Freak Athlete. We offer a lifetime warranty against manufacturer defects. So if anything breaks down in the future such as a knob, sleeve etc we would replace the part of replace the machine. Right now it's on sale for $699, so $649 after Gluck's code!
When you have small print instructions, you could always take a photo of them with your smart phone and then pinch to zoom in. That's what I do (if I can't find them online).
Great review I see everybody talking about these kind of machines and I have Kabukki transformer bar and titan squat max md and hamstrings getting really big and strong but don't feel I'm doing anything for hamstrings. Curious what you think about their mini version or using a leg roller like Rep's to do the main exercise most are buying this for? I don't see myself doing back raises, situps or any of the rest. I trust you what do you think about their mini version?
Personally I’ll wait to buy a full sized GHD and a 45 degree back extension. When it comes to spending $800 on a piece of equipment I’d rather spend my money on one thats going to do it right, not one thats going to do a bunch of different things kinda right.
Hey Bud, just watched the intro and haven't started the video. I noticed Wynie doing reverse hypers and she looked to have a restricted ROM and used no resistance. We know Louie said to use the reverse Hyper correctly or optimally one needs to use half the weight of his/her 1 Rep Squat Max. Interested in seeing how the reverse Hyper works. Looks like a nice machine
Perfect! I was just looking at their webpage yesterday. Saw that they are having an AMA on Reddit in a few weeks. Saw that they also have it on sale. Will your code be additional on top of that sale?
@@GlucksGym How durable do you find this thing? This would be perfect for the minute amount of space that I have left in my garage. I like the fact that it's multifunctional.
@@davidb1975a it's good quality for a home gym. I think the padding and vinyl is well done. they have newly upgraded pop pins which would've been my complaint but when I got it in I was pretty low on it. After using it I think it's pretty good.
Hey Gluck have you seen the Transformer Bench from Edge Fitness Systems? I haven't seen much of anything review-wise but it looks like one of the most versatile benches on the market.
Great review. This piece shouldn’t have been marketed as reverse hyper, but the rest of it seems pretty solid. I wish the half moon pad was an actual attachment and not Velcro, but this looks very promising.
I noticed you didn't release a video of the updated version... is that because they didn't give you another test unit? This old review was more critical than the others so was this punishment?
Definitely a good option for people who want a GHD and nordic bench without sacrificing a big area of dedicated space. The RH function is lame as expected, a risky choice to include that in their marketing as a feature. Lots of thought went into the design, cool to see and I'm sure they'll continue to improve and innovate.
As soon as I find out they don’t have free shipping, they lose me . It pisses me off immediately, they’d be better off adding the price of shipping to the unit, and make your decision from there . I’m not alone in my thinking either, Powertec got my business 🤔
Have you guys done a video in style my pride gym personalized banners and the new personalized gym mats? It keeps poping up in my social media feeds and wanted to watch a review.
Superb Review! Thank you for the detailed focus on this $800 machine! I never thought it can be a reverse hyper using bands - just not realistic! Haha I rather buy the Westside Barbell Reverse Hyper! Do they ship internationally to Hong Kong?
Sometimes less is more. Just watching this gave me a headache. The last thing I want to do when I’m trying to workout is constantly reconfiguring my equipment.

It’s false advertising calling it RH. 😂

I noticed Wynie doing reverse hypers and she looked to have a restricted ROM and used no resistance.
We know Louie said to use the reverse Hyper correctly or optimally one needs to use half the weight of his/her
1 Rep Squat Max.
Interested in seeing how the reverse Hyper works. Looks like a nice machine
Just you wait Bobby 😊
Completely missed the table function, drink holder, sweater holder, lawn bag staging platform, and blue print layout table
Perfect! I was just looking at their webpage yesterday. Saw that they are having an AMA on Reddit in a few weeks.
Saw that they also have it on sale. Will your code be additional on top of that sale?
Yep! It takes another $50 off the price
@GlucksGym Thanks!
@@GlucksGym Thanks! I trust your opinion. I didn't want to buy a piece of junk at that price.
Hey Gluck have you seen the Transformer Bench from Edge Fitness Systems? I haven't seen much of anything review-wise but it looks like one of the most versatile benches on the market.
Good review!tha machine its worth the price👌🏻
Would be an awesome addition.
Our review is filmed but I'm an idiot and put too much effort into content so it's taken awhile to edit. Should be ready soon.
@@GlucksGym that’s why you’re my favorite home gym influencer!!
Main selling point for me was the space saving. Should be getting mine in December.
You're gonna love it!
Superb Review! Thank you for the detailed focus on this $800 machine! I never thought it can be a reverse hyper using bands - just not realistic! Haha I rather buy the Westside Barbell Reverse Hyper! Do they ship internationally to Hong Kong?
Please review the Shogun Nord-Ex
$600... damn can't do it. Will have to find alts for now
Appreciate the smirk when going from the back
If you're back there you better be smiling
Sometimes less is more. Just watching this gave me a headache. The last thing I want to do when I’m trying to workout is constantly reconfiguring my equipment.
Decent for versatility. Not sure if available in Australia
[Some kinda comment] Hope this helps 😉. Thanks for the review. Interesting bit of kit. [5:12] Perfect.
hahah thanks. See how well I behave?!
@@GlucksGym You're a paragon of virtue 😇
How much noise does it make when you're doing these exercises? Does it make that metal clicking noise like loose gym equipment?
