@@mindful_wander At the end of the year, I'm going to Scandinavia and the Netherlands. I got friends and family, I want to see. Then I'm going to Osaka, Japan via Dubai. It's an old dream I plan to make come true. When I arrive in the Akihabara neighborhood of Tokyo, I'm going supernova nerd on the Manga and Anime.
Such a good point! I am also trying to learn Spanish. I spent a month in Argentina and Peru last summer and every day was a challenge, especially when you encounter different dialects (my Spanish was even worse than it is now). Many times I ended up not getting the item/thing I asked for or had to navigate some kind of misunderstanding. Wanting to return to Spanish-speaking countries is a big motivation for me to continue practicing/learning every day.
Oh no way! That's awesome! I love talking to people that have been there. There's a connection that's automatically made. It really is a special place. I'm working on a video for them now, actually. I want to share more about my experiences but also the experiences of others.
Yes, it can be so difficult but I've found that it's just part of the growing pains of doing something that is extremely cool, when you think about it (learning another language). It's taken my YEARS but I've realized that placing ourselves in uncomfortable positions that stretch us beyond what we currently are, along with the right intentions behind them, is what can really lead to some amazing things. Having read your second comment before replying to this one (about Nimea Kaya), I'm sure you are well aware of that. I am not fluent yet but I have had moments recently of the joy that you feel when you genuinely connect with another person in their language; when you know just enough to let them feel heard and to feel heard yourself!
I go abroad every chance I get. Every time I get back, it feels like I climbed a mountain.
Yes, my friend! I get you on that! It's great. Any travels coming up soon?
