Comment from an old school guy: In 1989, it didn't matter how many games similar to a game like this were available. The kids played and had fun with all of them.
there's a prototype of this game simpIy named Yukiwo (after the Iead designer apparentIy IoI). the music is messed up & some effects (& bosses) are missing in that version but it has extended story segments in gIorious engrish between stages Iike the opening narration present here. its a shame mame rom hacks aren't a thing because that's probably the onIy scenario where i couId imagine a compIete version where aII the eIements of the prototype & reIease can be combined into a sort of director's cut.
Master of Weapon, eh? Yep, it's a Japanese game all right, but since they made them very well, that's definitely not a bad thing. 🙂 As always, Al, well played, though if I'd played the game at the time of release, those creepy VID logo styled heads (along with their innards) would've been bonafide nightmare fuel for me for years to come after that. 😨😈😉
Washed out graphics in arcade games were really common at this time, to compensate for how dark the CRTs were, the Gameboy Advance had a similar problem.
