Stage 5: a Metal Gear stationed on a small lake behind a medieval castle. I also love how there's another just before the final boss but it's instead crushed by an allied ship. Wonder if the developers ever gave an explanation about that creepy yet awesome final boss. The smoke and flames behind it give the idea it's something demonic, created using forces that man cannot grasp completely.
And if you listen to the radio communication at the beginning of the stage, it's actually Neuschwanstein Castle. My own hunch is that you start the game assisting Japan against a new Russo-Japanese War (that space shuttle is a Russian design), and in the second half travel to Germany to stop a doomsday cult that started that war to kickstart World War III.
The space shuttle and bomber are specifically American models. Final boss is like a fallen angel. The gun configuration looks like the Pleaides constellation. Some occult references say that our sun revolves around the Pleaides. It looks like the USA made a pact with Pleaidean intelligence, to me. There is a map of the Pleaides at the Hoover Dam, and also statues of angels.
if you dont know what GAZELLE is they were one of 4 offshoot companies after toaplan dieded (the rest were CAVE,RAIZING and TAKUMI). they made 2 games. this and a sailor moon beat em up. they also did ports of toaplan games after toaplans demise most notably is the saturn version of batsugun. where is GAZELLE now you say? you see em anywhere? nope. oh. forgot to mention after Air Gallet was made several employees including the great Junya Inoue and Tsuneki Ikeda went on and join CAVE.
the final boss is just so creepy. is it completely a machine or a possesed statue? the skeleton inside it just send shivers down my spine and i don't know why
@@Rendo86 Yeah that too! Obviously the DEVs were big Macross fans! :D Though in real life it would have been logistically impractical and wasteful to sacrifice an entire super carrier to take down a single large mech! I wonder what lead the carrier's captain to that wasteful action. Instead of just launching a massive airstrike and full scale bombardment and taking it down from miles away like all carriers do! So, out of all the real-life battleships of the past and present, there is no other more heavily used in all sorts of insane and dramatic scenes, than the USA's Nimitz class aircraft carriers! :D LoL!
That mecha boss seems to be a parody of the SDF-1 Macross, given it's hyperblocky and almost headless body design, and how you fight it submerged to the waist in water, much like the how the SDF was during the last arc.
Indeed! And it's made even clearer @9:10 where the aircraft carrier crashes into the gigantic Mech destroying each other in the process, considering that the SDF-1 also had 2 aircraft carriers on its sides! Awesome and super intense scene! Very Japanese self sacrifice in style indeed!
Huh... According to wikipedia critics thought very little about this game, while the creator considered it "Kusoge" Too bad, so far it has some of the nicest boss battles I have seen
Yes Awesome and super intense scene indeed!! Very Japanese self sacrifice in style! It seems to be a reference to SDF-1 from Macross since it also had 2 Aircraft carriers on its sides!
9:07 This is as far as I have watched, and that part is very awesome, very "Japanese banzai hero" ish And then the "murdering Angel Statue" that leaves a clearly visible gaint human skeleton when destroyed, and continues fighting with it's trucked up head... Talk about sudden psychological horror"

O jogo de nave mais bonito❤ e mais difícil 😢que já joguei na vida 😅 Como vc conseguiu derrotar esses inimigos com tantos milhões de projéteis tomando conta da tela ??? Você é um herói mesmo🦸 !
I find this game very similar to RaidenX...except it is actually harder..... And did you notice that the player's plane can inflict damage by thrusters ,as it destroyed chaser missiles from the mech.
This particular Schmup is among the very, very few ones that made me break a controller on the very first playthroughs. Reason ? my senses could never even remotely comprehend how to dodge the VERY FIRST FUCKIN BOSS' guided blue ray attacks. When its not the bullet hell that is at least an outright Raiden II loop 2 or 3. I mean, I can appreciate or at least accept the idea of near-impossible mid or end-game bosses or section, you gotta make money along the way when you design arcade games. But this level of insane difficulty at such an early stage of gameplay ? a mere three minutes into it and this is it ? such a thick wall ? this is just plain disrespectful to the player, even by schmup standards that usually don't give a damn about them are just constitute bottomless coin sinks for 99% of the average-to-decent gamer. With that intensity, the game does not even feel challenging or funny since you do not even have the time to get familiar with the mechanics so soon into the game... the devs either unconsciously or willingly, clearly didn't give a thought about even steep difficulty curves and just decided to basically throw everything they could think of at the player since the onset of the experience right out of the box. This is commercially bold and there is some merit to it, but I wonder the countless newcomers they actually lost along the way and could have kept around for a lot of coins with say 20% less difficulty even only on that first boss that had a completely decent spot at stage 2 or 3. You cannot tell me that this shuttle is actually feasible without 80-100 tries to fully grasp a solid dodge pattern. OK let's say I'm far from being a top Schmup player, so 30-40 tries for the good++, top tier of the gamer population. I have done 3-loops clear on the likes of Raiden II/DX, Air Assault and Ghost Pilots. But this ? seriously ? Stage 1, Boss 1 ? really ? Nes hard seems a like a walk in the park in comparison , this is utter stupidity people, when considering how incredibly easy the 2nd boss is by gigantic contrast, I beat it in 2 tries ! this is some kind of wicked reverse difficulty my goodness...
Might be a little late with reply but... First boss? Blue rays? Really? What pattern do you want to see there? Yeah, shots go like right-left-right and then left-right-left. But all you need is just to react and dodge accordingly. This attack is slow enough. Do not try to find patterns everywhere - sometimes it is easier if you don't distract yourself with unneeded info.
@@ArekTheDragon Ever since my post I happen to have reached the same conclusion, I concur. And sometimes (say 30% of playthroughs) I beat him in one go.. The very first bullet barrage is randomly difficult enough to get me depending on the run but the blu rays dont hurt me anymore indeed ;-)
We have one DDP video on this channel. It is DDP2, which was not made by CAVE, though. Also we have boss battles from Espgaluda if you are interested. I plan to record bosses from PC-98 Touhou games but can't say for sure when I will do it. Don't know about DDP games - I might be somewhat good at shmups but I am not THAT good to even think about trying to defeat any TLB without getting hit.

It wasn't an alien ship but more of a USA aircraft carrier, CV hull number 79 John F Kennedy

Wow,you weren't kidding,really buttugly.
yeah it's weird
the final boss is art
I seen creepier.
Its a machine with statue structure
At first I was thinking that last boss was actually rather fair for a last boss. Then you got to that final phase and all hell broke loose.

That really catches the eye in a 2d shooter.

What does "No Miss" mean in this context? There are clearly lots of shots fired that didn't hit anything...
No miss = no damage/no death. It is more common for shoot'em ups so I usually try to mark my shmup challenges as "no miss" instead of anything else.
Oh, I get it. It's the Japanese "miss" as in failing the level. I think the older Mario Party games use it that way too
