Sorry, not related to this video, I have a 2020 F-150, 5.0 with 14,000kms only, I noticed a small amount of oil on my front skid plate, took it to the dealer and they said it’s leaking from the crank shaft seal, they said it’s not a big job, I imagine that would probably mean it’s the front one? Is there anything I should be concerned about this repair after they complete it? Or is it truly not a big deal? Thanks in advance
its not a big deal at all, couple hours and done max. I've not seen a brand new one leak. What I do see is where they pull the oil filter off and it drains into the little catch tray above the splash Shield they don't clean it out right and then sometimes it drips down onto your skid plate

Out of curiosity is it normal on the 1.5L for the turbo to be damp with oil? Not a physical drip or dripping. No excessive blow by or rattling or other problems.
You really shouldn't say any oil on the turbo, more than likely there's a light really faint issue with the charge tube coming off of it being tight enough. Or your drain or feed oil tube gasket is just a little lacking in the sealing Department

I have a 2011 focus 1.6l ecoboost that burns coolant no leaks and little white smoke constantly from exhaust, i had head gasket replaced but it didn't solve the problem, the mechanic said it could be the liquid cooled turbo faulty, is that really possible in your opinion? i read somewhere that even the heater core could be because i think i've smelled it inside too, but that should not be the case because it's being smoked out of the exhaust or may it?
So if you have no leaks and you see white smoke sometimes coming out of the exhaust I would suggest yes looking at the turbo what the 1.6 L block also had a coolant intrusion issue But I don't think it was an issue as early as 2011, was your vehicle produced in the United States? So yes your mechanic is right it could be the turbo It could also be internal to the engine

Hello, check engine light came on a long time ago. I found out about a recall, took to the dealership and they changed the door locks. (Different recall) I asked about the reason I took it there and I got told it wasn’t a recall and would be about 4K to fix. we had a shop fix an axel and the mechanic brought it up that we had a recall for the wastegate. finally getting back into it I took it to the dealership again for the recall, only for them to change the door locks AGAIN while waiting a week with nobody answering the phones just for them to tell me it’s not a recall. This time they said it would be 600 to fix. Only need to fix so the check engine light goes away for smog. I found this part for 40$. The car doesn’t seem to have any major trouble. No loss in gas mileage that I can tell of. The only issue is every once a awhile it will RANDOMLY false overheat. Goes into limp mode. The code is p0234. Do you think this would be the fix? The "permanent" code cleared again. This has happened for the past 3 days now. The code seems to pop up in the morning and once I clear it, the computer will clear the "permanent" code after driving awhile and it doesn't come back all day. I might drive 100 to 150 miles each day. It's starting to get colder and I'm wondering if it might be the waste gate sticking momentarily when the engine is cold or could this just be the sensor? They work together and I believe have different part numbers, call your dealer give them the vin in parts and ask them to pull it up and see
I have 2013 escape 1.6t and when i give it gas i get a slipping feeling or like my turbo isnt building pressure. Would this be a fix for that? Been reading online it could be the boost solenoid

My engine light came on my 2016 Ford Escape 1.6 liter eco boost it was throwing code p0234
I’m replacing same part tomorrow hopefully that solves the issue
Is it resolved that issue ???
my 2013 ford escape 1.6L is throwing p0234, and it’ll do spurts of boost and my rpm’s and speed will go up and down, when it happened for more than a minute my transmission light came on and said it was faulty to service now, i can cut the car back on and drive it for a second till it starts jumping again and the transmission light isn’t on when i cut it on and start driving it. do you think it’s the wastegate?
You may have a different issue going on that has to get checked out by a technician
Mine doing the same
Thanks so much for posting this. Looks like the prob on my daughter's 2016 Escape. Question, since you didn't show the install of the replacement part: can the access points be reached - and hoses attached - by hand? (Wondering since the pliers, not fingers, were used to remove)
There's definitely more than one way to do this this is just how I do it it has four access point I'm not sure what you mean by that
@@FordBossMe Thx for responding! I'm wondering when you go to install the replacement part, how did you attach the hoses to the ports? By hand or tool? Wondering if there was any problem accessing the ports by hand, since you used the pliers to pull them off.
I was wondering the same thing! Pulling the hoses off with the pliers is one thing, but how did you get up there to squeeze the clamps to get the hoses back on?@@ajfh49

Check engine came out when leaving my street, car wanted to stall out so I brought it home and ran scanner/cleared code but it came right back.
Next day I start it seems to runs and drive fine but code is still stored on computer as perm.

I've seen people run them a long time
Would this part cause a turbo surge
I mean I suppose it could
Has anyone had a p0234 overboost condition on their 3.5 eco boost?
Could be vacuum control solenoid or it could be the turbo itself
@FordBossMe I really hope it's the solenoid! Ford recently did a whole timing job replacement. It's doesn't throw a check engine light but pops up when I scan the vehicle
Where can I buy it for my 2016 fusion?
Contact your dealer askfor the part number then jump on Google
I have the PO234 code that just happened today on my 2014 Escape 1.6L 2WD.
BACKSTORY: The engine was replaced last year due to the coolant leaking into the engine block. Last week they replaced the coolant housing and heater hoses due to them leaking.
MY QUESTIONS: 1) Is the wastegate solenoid considered part of the engine? If so, maybe it is covered under my new engine warranty. 2) If it isn't part of the engine, could it have anything to do with the recent coolant housing/hose repair? 3)Could a drastic drop in outside temperature have anything to do with the wastegate solenoid acting up? (We went from 60's to 27 last night)
thank you for any help!
The cold weather dropped could do it but that's kind of hard to say without being there knowing the situation
@@FordBossMe I am taking it back to the dealership this morning but I worry they are taking advantage of me. Change the map sensor and change all hose at the same time. Still the same …. Any ideas. Some ford guy say the the intake manifolds need clean up stuck too much carbon..

Gave it some gas*
You're going to have to check for a loose connection somewhere or Chaffed wires around the throttle body
@@FordBossMe thanks a lot for your reply, that makes way more sense looking at it from that point of view, truck doesn’t go in for the repair until tomorrow morning, it’s there already but I will give him a call in the morning, unless they did see oil coming from the seal I would rather them check again before going through that work
exactly, the lube techs are lazy and they don't clean the tray out well and it drips and you think you have a leak and you dont
Is this the same part as the turbo boost pressure sensor?
No the boost pressure sensor is your map sensor your manifold absolute pressure sensor
Will this work for 2015 mustang eco boost as well ?

Mine has the p0234 what does it mean and my turbo won’t boost?
Either a boost solenoid issue or turbo is going bad
Recently my wrench light started to come on after quick acceleration (when on boost) had my ecu scanned and 2 errors were detected. P006A64 and P023422- too high turbo pressure. Do you think the part you used in the video will solve the issue ? Also do you think the second code triggered the first one ?
Worth mentioning the car is FIESTA 1.6 ST I run mountune air box and mountune map since the car was new. Never had any issues and the car looses its power when wrench light comes on. After the engine restart the light disappears until I floor it again. The
Yes this could very well be what caused the code very high probability actually

@@Waluk7 sooo did it
@@blake5605 yes it did fix the car. I had the part fitted for 5 days now and no issues at all 👍👍🙏
Out of curiosity is it normal on the 1.5L for the turbo to be damp with oil? Not a physical drip or dripping. No excessive blow by or rattling or other problems.
You really shouldn't say any oil on the turbo, more than likely there's a light really faint issue with the charge tube coming off of it being tight enough.
Or your drain or feed oil tube gasket is just a little lacking in the sealing Department

Hello sir, would you please be kind and let me know if this is the fix for code P0246?
I don't even know what that code means man tell me what it means in order for me to give you some kind of idea on what I think whether or not it's going to fix it because I can't tell you if it's going to fix it if I'm not working on the vehicle
Thanks a lot for replying!! 2015 Ford Escape and this is what the code says P0246: Turbocharger/Supercharger
Wastegate Solenoid "A" High.
I have a 2013 fusion 2.0 I have the same code, p0246 wastegate solenoid A high and also p061a internal control module torque performance
@@OlFiver Hi, I figured out the fix for code P0246!! You need to replace the turbo wastegate!! I wanted to make sure before commenting and it’s been almost 7 weeks since I’ve replaced it. My check engine light is gone(hasn’t come back at all) and my engine is not making a weird noise anymore. Drove over 100mph on the highway several times and no problem at all.
The part shown in the video is the right one for the Escape models, and you can also find it on Parts Geek.
Hope this helps good luck!!
Hello I like the video very informational but unfortunately for me this did not fix my issue. Anything else you think I can check?
They're going to have to check the turbo itself and you're going to have to check for any loose induction connections or charge connections coming from the turbo
So if you have no leaks and you see white smoke sometimes coming out of the exhaust I would suggest yes looking at the turbo what the 1.6 L block also had a coolant intrusion issue
But I don't think it was an issue as early as 2011, was your vehicle produced in the United States?
So yes your mechanic is right it could be the turbo
It could also be internal to the engine

Sorry it’s lengthy and hard to understand. It’s the wife’s car and I tried telling her to get it sorted out earlier than later lol. It’s probably been this way for almost 2 years now
Again sorry lol don’t mean to complain about the stealership to a nice fellow on UA-cam

I have been driving for 2 years with this. No physical difference. Im now trying to get rid of that
Great content! Question: What would be the consequences or damage done if your were to drive this car with P0234 for an extended period time? Any long term turbo damage?
There could be potential damage yes, if its not the boost control solenoid more than likely the Westgate or linkage is bad
Can you ohm test this solenoid?
You can but I don't know what the spec is off the top of my head and I don't trust that anyway home testing is such a basic test that doesn't really say a lot
Does this apply to 2016 2.0 Ecoboost Fusions too?
I've got a 2016 Fusion that's throwing P0236, a wrench light, and low power
Throttle response is not there, and it surges and bucks when it comes back down to idle
I'd like to hope at 57k the turbo itself is still okay
Looking at the freezeframe data, it happened right on cold start, about 1200rpm
Am I looking at both MAP/Charge cooler pressure sensors, or the wastegate controller itself?
Any insight would be appreciated, thank you
Throttle body could be the issue or the vacuum solenoids
My wife’s 2016 escape had the code p0234 “over boost condition”. hi, thanks for your video's! I have a 2105 escape 1.6L. P0234 popped up but I have no other symptoms of an over boost. I eventually cleared the code and after 60 or 70 miles the "permanent" code cleared as well. About a week later it came back, again no other symptoms. Cleared it again and drove.
I'm going to try one of the turbo cleaners and hope it makes a difference. Thanks again for your hard work on these videos!
