      I would still go for Jokic because he is smart and very reliable because of his style of play. His style is very dependable because of the less probability to get injured unlike Giannis who is very athletic and when he lose his athleticism he will no longer be effective. Look at westbrook. Jokic and Steph when these both players on your team you're good with contending for the next 10 to 15 years if you start your franchise with these guys.

    Wemby has size, length and talent. And even though he is only 19 he is not like a kid out of high school, he has been playing against men for several years. Wemby has also been playing and learning more pro type schemes than what a high school player would be exposed to. Wemby will have a learning phase but his upsides are so big you could win multiple championships with him playing his B game with the right team and coach.

    It is probably because Victor Wembanyama has already been a general manager in France, and he has prior experience of drafting players, along with experiencing team chemistry. I would still rather have Nikola Jokic or Giannis, because they are already proven players, and I do not know what the future holds for VW. I just realized that his initials are the same as Volkswagen. Lol.

      I hear where you're coming from for sure. Jokic and Giannis are absolutely proven champions - you know exactly what you're getting with those dudes. No doubt they'd be safe picks to build your franchise around.
      At the same time though, sometimes you gotta have some guts in this league and trust your instinct on a guy. When I look at Victor, all I see is upside out the wazoo. Like have you seen how fluid he is moving at 7'4"? That ain't normal!
      Plus he's still so young and just getting started tapping into his potential. You don't find prospects with his unique combination of size, shooting, handles and IQ just sitting around. If he puts in the work, sky's the limit for Victor in my eyes.
      Now I know he's unproven, so it's a risk. But how many championships are won playing it safe, you feel me? Sometimes you need that X-Factor, that game-changing type of talent. In my opinion, Victor could be that dude.
      Who knows, maybe I'm just drinking the hype Kool-Aid. But I like rolling the dice on a special player who can really put a franchise on his back. To me, that's Wembanyama all day. He's the high-risk, high-reward swing for the fences.
      But you do you - like I said, can't go wrong with those other guys either. Just trying to explain why I'm drinking the Victor vagine early! Gonna be fun to see it all play out.

    If I had to guard Victor Wembanyama, here's generally how I'd approach defending him:
    Due to his huge size advantage, I wouldn't try to aggressively pressure him full court. He's too easy to pass over me. Instead I'd play back further in the half court and try to stunt his moves inside.
    First thing is cutting off his dominant hand. I don't want to give Vic space to gather and launch that smooth stroke of his. I'd try to crowdsource him to his weak side as much as possible.
    Against his dribble, I'd stay low in a defensive stance and try to feel where he wants to go. His handles are tight for his frame, so physicality is key. Can't let him generate steam down the lane.
    In 1-on-1 post situations, I'd fight hard not to let him seal me down low. Quick double teams might be needed if he establishes deep position.
    Help defense is crucial against his drives and kicks too. I'd trust my fellows to rotate hard and contest any of his impressive passes.
    It'd take a full team effort to guard Vic properly. My quickness and motor could help, but it'd be a challenge no doubt. Definitely the biggest assignment I've ever had! Just gotta swarm him and hope he misses.

    GMs aren't immune to emotion. Jokic waited until they built that team around him. Giannis just strong armed the Bucks into making a make or break move that will or wont work out, and if it does not, that team is probably screwed and he's gonna leave anyway in 3-4 years.
    It's not just about how you play on the court. No GM wants a LeGM looking over his shoulder. Wemby is a kid, and so when you think of "build a team around" naturally they are gonna look at him.

    • @MrE_
      @MrE_ 11 місяців тому

      Sometimes gms need a push to get something done. I think what giannis did is way on the tame side of things compared to guys like lebron or harden who force a team to make moves whether it's signing certain players or forcing a trade. Giannis has been in the league for a decade without a legit star on his team, it's perfectly acceptable to give the team a nudge to make a move. Jokic is a chill player who comes to do his job, which GMs like, but jokic also got lucky that the Denver nuggets actually put a decent team around him over time and didn't have to nudge them to make a move.

    • @blikketty77
      @blikketty77 11 місяців тому

      @@MrE_ 2 things can be true.
      1.) assuming Giannis went to the organization last season or after they lost, and said all this stuff privately, then sure, if he wanted to say it publicly after they didn't make any real moves, thats his prerogative as a top 5 guy. Middleton regressed, Jrue's contract $ to contributions was out of wack in a way that made it hard for them to improve the team any other way. They already blamed the coach, now he has blamed the GM publicly. But a few things come out of this, his good guy image takes a hit, and if they don't get chips with Dame, Giannis will be blamed, not the coach, not the GM.
      2.) most GMs would rather start with a young star, and have some time to build a team around them. Jokic's passing makes everyone around him better. Giannis, as dominant as he is, his skillset that is most out of the ordinary is finishing with power at the rack, and getting calls when he misses in the same conditions. While he's a great player, he requires a certain roster construction in regards to shooting and defenders around him to make it work at the playoff level. Middleton regressing and how the Bucks have fared in general since losing PJ Tucker attests to that.

    The difference that separates between jokic and gianese is that jokic playas a huge roll in development of young players while gianese relies on coaching to develop young players

      If you were to look up Giannis's value to the Bucks in 2020, he led in a lot of advanced statistical categories. He can lead a team like Nikola Jokic, but the truth is that every player needs help at some point.

    I would want to start a franchise around a sturdier player. Wemby is strong for his height but he is one play away from injury if he goes up against a strong Lebron/Giannis drive.

      @@ndnd7614 I know dude. And that's part of why everybody has hyped him. But I don't see what's special about him except his height. I do think he will be an overhyped player. Giannis was true to form and same goes with Lebron. But those guys had something special. I don't know if Wemby has that or at least yet.

      @@shipwreck8847 Get to know him more. He was playing GM in his france team and the crazy improvement he had from last season compared to the previous season before that is crazy. He double his ppg and won every individual award in the french league. He has great people surrounding him. Compared to other rookies, his camp is world class. Bro's family got connections with Mbappe.
