As a die hard Spurs fan, been a fan since the gervin days, as a matter of fact went to high school with gervin Jr... When it was announced that we got that number 1 pick, I'm 46 years old and in decent shape and I jumped so high I now know what Jordan feels like soaring through the air. We all know Victor is probably going to be a huge asset for the NBA, and if ithey entrusted him with the Spurs instead of NY, LA, Dallas, Houston, SF, etc. then that means we are doing a lot of things right.
The player development of the Spurs org is well known. They’ll shape this kid into his max potential which is best for all us NBA fans.

It seems that some individuals have crafted a fabricated narrative as a means to protect their egos from accepting the truth that they are not the main character and that their team didn't come out on top. I’m from Austin, giant Spurs fan, and I’ve met lots of international Spurs fans online. Particularly French and Argentinians because of Tony Parker and Manu. I love it personally, I’m happy that since we have the smaller Central Texas market we also get some international pull. I think the Spurs will be a great fit. He will have Pop to coach him up and help him develop and he will have Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobli, and Tony Parker to help mentor him. He’s gonna have the whole fanbase’s love and support too.

Something tells me that Lebron would not have been comfortable living in San Antonio, or the surrounding areas. More importantly, I don't think Lebron would have been comfortable playing second fiddle to Pop. Lebron is the kind of guy who wants to call the shots, and there's nothing wrong with that, but, Pop would not have allowed that.

I grew up watching the spurs of the 2000s with Timmy, Tony and manu that’s how I got into basketball cause of Tim Duncan I grew up with the spurs family so I was naturally groomed to be a spurs fan when they were on top

I am more a soccer fan but have followed basketball for quite a while since the Jordan, Shaq years and followed all TP’s games and since have been a fan of Spurs. Can’t wait to see how will victor flourish .

Pop loves his young point guard Tyus Jones brother Trey Jones. I think he is a prototype point guard, and will work well with Wembanyama.

San Antonio and Dallas, always scouting international. Same thing with bucks and nuggets. It is not a secret the European players are getting more exposure now. I just hope the NBA analysts will do a little more homework and don't just reject European players right away. Of course, the player still need to be in a system that fits them. Wemby will shine with the spurs.

What’s interesting about this is that we know from Wemby’s team of people around him that he doesn’t want to play center in the NBA. He wants to play the 4 position. It’s going to be interesting to see what the Spurs do at the 5 position. Also, I think everyone needs to watch out for this scenario, with a ton of picks and cap space and good young pieces. Watch out for that number 3 pick held by the Trail Blazers, the Trail Blazers are in a weird spot with trying to get a star to play with Dame. If the Spurs can get a 3rd team who wants to unload a star especially with what they have as collateral, watch out!
Great point. Spurs have a lot of interesting options if they want to trade picks for veterans to help Wemby develop.
One player that's being overlooked in college that may help right away is Adem Bona out of UCLA. He plays both 4 and 5 is quick to the ball for rebounds and good shot blocker. I'm hoping he may be available at the Spurs 2nd round pick. If you haven't seen him check out his highlights. I think only one source has him going in late second, all others have him going undrafted.
