Im super excited to watch you dig into Ixalan. If the opportunity presents its self I'd love to see you draft a blue white or green black deck in this format. I think most people will shrug off those color combos as they don't have a tribe identity, but as you said in the video, if you can pick up the payoffs for these deck they seem to be incredibly powerful. The lack of support for Minotaur tribal in Amonkhet/HoD was super disappointing for me, I loved Neheb. I love tribal themes so this set is SUPER HYPE There's a clicking sound from his mouse between each card that is driving me nuts. It's really distracting. Great video otherwise tho

I think you missed on the green white large toughness archetype it says all CREATURES not just dinosaurs so that 3 mana 1/4 that flights when it enters is a 4/4 and there’s a 2 mana 0/3 that explores
Devon Hokanson I agree. He missed that entirely. I'd be happy to run green white. Play defensively until you get your big guy, then your board is suddenly full of massive damage and you win.
Devon Hokanson I think you miss the point. Yes, the brontodon itself works and supports the deck, but nothing else. If you build your deck around 1 card, you'll get blown out 90% of the time

perce4 I wouldn't do it unless that's what was supported by what I opened. I didn't even get the chance to make that mistake because the manager working today deliberately made me as late as possible even though I arranged with the employee relieving me and the boss to be let out early. I got to the game store right after they started the first match. It broke my heart. I've been practicing for days.
I love the name GW big butts. The 0/3 W ramp, 1/3 W flying vampire and 0/3 G explore i would think fit into this build as well, That said i'm not a huge fan of complex combos which rely on one card that can be removed.
I've practiced drafting Ixalan a half dozen times now and feel like it's really hard to draft Merfolk or Vampires. You have to have two colors open AND you have to find the subset of the two colors that have the tribal.

Dual shot is much better Than rile. just saying. You said Black red enrage deck.... i think you meant green red. Prying blade is the easiest way to make treasures, lil shocked you never mentioned it. Storm fleet pyromancer is terrible as 5 mana for just 2 dmg is sad. play the conquistador all day over the 2/2 grizzly vampire. You called the explore deck "the prowess deck" at one time during the 37 minute marker.
+mike lints Prying Blade is terrible. But yeah I should have mentioned it, as I talked about other bad cards. 5 mana to do 2 is bad, but 5 to do 2 and play a 3/2 creature who can trade is a 2 for 1. Ans if you think that's bad, you're crazy.
terrible? its only the best equip in the set. like literally, and i am fully 100% NEVER playing the 3/2 guy for 5 mana. just way too terrible as its too little for too much.
One thing that's weird about pirates, is there is a tonne of ways to generate treasure but the payoffs for having all this mana are pretty limited, especially at common/uncommon. It almost look's like you have to draft multiples of the resurrection spells in order to just keep throwing dead pirates back at your opponent. The best pirate deck might be black/green, where you use the treasure to ramp into the 6+ mana giants, plus you might even get to chupacabra the crap outta someone.
Favourable winds was way too slow in my experience. The one guy running it in sealed got ran over by everyone he played. It's just not good enough to spend 2 mana on, imo. Also UW looked really bad in an aggressive format. The fliers tend to be smaller and don't trade well with the dinos. Maybe it'll be better in draft? I doubt it though.

The 1/3 flying vampire will be good in the green white deck

spwndlove yeah vampires suck imo. I think merfolk will be good since a lot of their cards don't fit into other archetypes and may wheel.
Green and Red seem so much stronger than all the other colors..

+stev019 Pprobably a little early to reach such a conclusion. You could be right, though. The 4-mana 3/4 Reach dino is a real problem.
