I personally got sick of the draft format after about 5 drafts. After coming back to MTG at Shadows and getting to live in Eldritch Moon and Kaladesh limited this format was just so linear and 1 note. Drafts where you all have to fight over 2 drops and eliminating any deck that wants the game to last past turn 8 is not a fun format in any way.
I know you didn't want to be too negative, but I think you were far too lenient on Ixalan. This set put me off drafting for nearly 3 months, and I was drafting about 6-7 times a week beforehand. It hurt my LGS which has had draft as FNM for years. FNMs just stopped firing.
Sometimes when things are bad, you need to nail them. FNM draft might just be dead at my LGS if we get another set like this.
Having said that, I am super hopeful for Rivals. I really want it to be good. Can't wait for the Set Review.
Marshall and LSV are just being honest and analytical about the format. It's like the equivalent of (C or D-level) filler: not exciting, not particularly good, but playable. And you don't really want to play very much of it, otherwise your deck (draft experience) starts to get really bad.
My LGSs has largely moved away from Ixalan draft and have been giving and firing alternatives: Iconic Masters, Unstable, and flashback drafts. We're even going to fire some HOU drafts in January before Rivals comes out. The bigger LGS can afford to give multiple options and fire the pods as they fill. The smaller ones which tend to only fire one draft pod, will poll the drafters on which option people want to go with.

couldnt agree more about one with the wind, I was bumped outta day 2 in jersey by turn 1 speaker into one with the win turn 2, turn 3 branchwalker into turn 4 one with the wind number 2... It was so frustrating lol
what is ChannelFireball? Can I please have it explained one more time... I know, I know, you guys have to do it. I miss the episode in which Luis constantly referred to the site, that was actually funny.

How do you look up which cards you drafted the most in a format? Do you just comb through your drafts?

Great comments and suggestions on cheating. It makes me feel good that vigilance itself is all you need to prevent your opponents from tapping you out with cheating :).

Ixalan was so bad, I started playing hearthstone. When I sit at a table to draft, I want to figure out which of the 10 color pairs I can go into, not which of the 4 tribes.

Am I the only one out there that really liked this set? The flavor was sweet, the archetypes felt balanced, I like the tempo-based feel of the combat, games were frequently close and exciting, and it was fun smashing people with a 5/5 hasted T-rex. I drafted the set a couple dozen times and never felt tired or bored. I get the feeling that the Spikes out there hated this set but us Timmys had a blast.
Navigator's Ruin is the most unplayable card in the set IMO. I have literally never seen it played. It's complete trash. It's a mediocre-to-bad mill card in a set with no real mill support.
