I’ve only been watching the channel for 6 months or so. This is my favorite episode so far. I appreciate how you bring attention to the great work and talent of workers like this gentleman
@@eganc1976 Yes that's what I forgot to comment on That drawer was a magic drawer🪄 kept everything straight hot -That dude has so much experience personality and professionalism I'm just blown away by this video I love it 👍
Man, you are so gentle and kind man. As a cook i can 100% say that people like you are the best treat for us. People who not just eat but taste and understand the food. So happy i found you. Best wishes!! Arthur from Russia!
Fantastic video from a southern Calif guy!! His business is a success because of his dedication to his craft! Not all of us are blessed with wealth but blessed with many other things in life. The younger generation needs to watch this and see how hard this man works because ( as u said ) to do this for 38 years, diffidently means he has been doing it absolutely right !! God bless him 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I mentioned my guy on the South-East corner of 70th and York Ave. My guy has has a simple hot dog, hot sausage & knish menu for at least 10 years. His cart is not as flashy as John's Grill. I never see him on his phone. Dude is always standing there, earning his honest hard-working living serving the hospital & university customers. Highly recommend a look! Additionally, in-front of the university (next to the hotdog cart) is a line of the most underrated food trucks in NYC. There's this INCREDIBLE Jamaican oxtail stew truck with the coconut rice. There's also a Colombian truck that makes these amazing sweet corn & cheese arepas. Very nice foodie scene.
Now that is a food cart I would be interested in owning and working everyday. Loved the layout and equipment options. It's Wide open and when your busy? Showtime Baby!!!!
I've been absent from your channel for a while and need to catch up on the videos, but Chris, I have to say - you NEVER disappoint. I appreciate the channel, man.
LOVED Every minute of this Chris!! What a guy, what a video 🙏🏾. Bless Him. Just doing his thing in our great city of NY. Wishing him continued success ❤👍🏾
Excellent video, Chris! The backstory of his cart and the history behind it were really interesting. It would be cool to see all of these episodes of your best spots compiled into a street cart/food documentary one day as they are such a part of the fabric of NYC and we are sadly slowly losing them all to attrition over time.
This is probably your best video you’ve ever done. I can’t thank you enough when I’m down that way. I am definitely going to stop there. Keep up the good work.👍🇺🇸
Been watching the channel for a little while now. I sure miss NYC and it was my favorite place out of all my travels around the world. I used to live in the Tri-State area well over 20 years ago. My wife, at the time, and I would be in almost every weekend. I miss this kind of stuff. She was connected politically and we would be at the Indonesian Consulates place constantly and I would be eating with the diplomats. I ended up being good friends with a UN chef from Indonesia. He was incredible and would come over and cook dinner for my wife and I. Lost contact with him when he moved back to Indonesia. I would love to visit NYC next spring. Maybe.....
@@miketuggle9273 the energy meeting ppl high profile is special. Man my hats off to you for putting these great americans on, like you said last of a dying breed. Wish I was back in NY to try that ribeye, great video! subscribed.
I just went there yesterday after seeing your video. I got the ribeye steak platter with additional chicken kabobs . It was incredible. So nice and tender and flavorful. John was so nice. To patronize a small business and get a great value/ meal was great. Everyone should come and try it. You will not be disappointed. It was only a few blocks from the Apple Store on fifth avenue
Simply a superlative video. I appreciate your soulful videos. Great production and presentation. At the end, you almost reached Tony Dragon's. Wish you had tried John's hot dog. It's good. When I'm in my car and on the Upper East or West, I either go to John's, Tony Dragon's (for the grilled chicken platter) or Billy's. At John's I either get the ribeye or chicken platter...then luxuriate in my car and feast.
Bro this looks soooo good. I live in San Francisco.. We do not have ANY CARTS!! Im very jealous, id eat at these carts everyday!!! I dont understand why downtown San Francisco hasn't caught on yet.
I'll pay a little extra for the good stuff. His prices aren't bad at all & everything looks so fresh. I'm in the Deep South and they charge NY prices for sandwiches that are half as full for $14.
Great video. I hope that your video reaches many who are able to bring him more business. You could see how fresh that steak was. The quality and quantity surely are worth his prices.
You're always very well coiffed. Remember, no white pants after Labor Day. It's now fall, black and grey only. If you want to live on the edge, pinstripe gray. Brown is for hippies!
Glad you finally made it to John's Grill. Without question better than dragons. You should have saved the trip to San Gennaro and gotten the sausage and peppers from him, equal to the best that I've ever had at any Italian place. Also he has grilled hot dogs with homemade onion sauce.
And I've been going to John's for about 30 years now and always had a great meal. John is a class act and stand up man. John's grill is a NY institution as far as I'm concerned.
Great video! He brought a vending cart/stand to another level. Such a clear video as well, are you using a camera or phone? Look forward to your next one.
Incredible content sir. Thank you. Do u have a vid about how these carts get established, fees, licensing, etc??u asked John about issues never moving his grill. Just curious as hell. Again fascinating thanks again
On the way back to Long Island from working in BK or Queens, I always stop by the Souvlaki King food truck on corner of Northern and Bell Blvd, then I hit Paris Baguette for a little dessert

Wow, those sandwiches. God Bless this man and his business. We can do without corporate stores, but we can't do without Mom & Pop family biz's.
I love how he utilized the drawer in building the ribeye hoagies...genius

Wow Chris! My kind of food cart! The ribeye sandwich looks amazing and the chicken looks to die for ! Yum yum
I like this cart, I would love to see a video cart tour discussing how he stores all the food, loads and cleans the charcoal grill, gets it in place.
Nice looking sandwiches. Good to see a hardworking man take pride in his work.
