I have heard those 23 sorrowful notes for along time and it never "got" to me. That changed January 2003 when a Navy trumpeter blew Taps for my dad. WWII vet that never saw action (Graduated Mountain View HS (California) 1945. He is interned with his fellow heroes at Garrison Forest (Maryland) Veterans Cemetery. Mom joined him several years later, I'll pass along all of your best wishes when we visit them later today!
I didn't quite "get it" either until it was played for my grandpa at Arlington. It "gets" me every time now.
Ahem , I think it's 24 notes?
24 notes sir!
Oct 23 1983 was when these notes meant something to me.
For the MARINE that made this video: THANK YOU! I took my Ipad with me to the crematory and played this while standing at my parents resting site. It was loud and clear and incredibly moving! Semper Fi!
Sorry for your loss, Scott; thank you for sharing.
God bless. Thank you.
Awesome...God Bless America....
Its hard to play taps without shedding tears. Honored to do so. Least I can do.
I lost a Marine friend of mine on May 25, 2020. He was a Star Trek fan, and today. June 6, 2020, at his virtual funeral, I played this video of TAPS over our fleet's discord. Semper Fi, old friend.
Im sorry for your lost 🙏🕊

Incredibly moving, and beautiful. Rest in Peace, to all our lost heroes of our military, and God Bless and keep our service members, veterans and their loving families. "Thank you" is so inadequate to type, but nonetheless, I am so grateful

I have to take a pill twice a day. I take it to Reveille and Taps. Taps today when I stood and saluted was thinking about all of the men Dan Daly saved.

Here in Clark Airbase there's have a statue like that, the soldiers raising the flag
That is the MARINES AND SAILOR raising the flag on IWO JIMA to show and prove we were taking the island and taking the PACIFIC.
Memorial Day 2023. I’m playing this at 1930 (sunset) for my neighborhood.

Is this recording in the public domain? I know the song itself is, but I love this recording and would love to use it in a project.

First
How can someone just claim first without out showing some respect for those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for your freedom! Totally disrespectful and obviously doesn't understand the meaning of Memorial Day or the playing of taps.
Vibrato is ok on most songs, not this one.
This is a dirge.
Uh, no it’s not.
