I met Ultravox in HMV Lord St, Liverpool when I was 16. I sagged off school and went to get my albums signed. They were such lovely guys and I got a kiss on the cheek from them all! I saw them play twice at the Empire theatre, lovely memories of a great time in my life. RIP Chris.
No way, I also attended that signing at the HMV, back in the good old days when it was on Lord Street next to Dixons!! I was 15 and had also skipped school to go and exactly as you said, they were all top guys and you could tell they really didn't mind giving up their free time to be there and to meet the fans!! I clearly remember Midge being surprised to see my copy of the Vienna album was a very rare import that had the songs in a different running order to the UK version!! I also attended both concerts at the Empire and they were brilliant shows, they definitely were the best times for music and to be a teenager!! RIP Chris!!
Recordings really cannot capture how *big* Astradyne is when played live - I was born after the group split up, but was raised on their music, and saw them 3 times on the reunion tours - Return To Eden (both parts) and Brilliant. Each time they played Astradyne, it didn't come from the speakers. It flooded the entire hall with sound. It was all around you. With guitars, you're usually blasted in the face with it, but with these keyboards, they were everywhere. I've never experienced anything like it, completely wrapped up in music. I will always love this band and treasure those concerts.
I was 17 in 1981 when I heard this for the 1st, 39 years later and its still one of my favourites of all time. Ultravox so under rated. 80's music was the best decade, music now sucks balls. No originality.
Absolut incredible sound, awesome live visuals. I saw Ultravox in Berlin at Admiral's Palace in 2010 for the first time in my life. I'm a Ultravox fan since 1980. ... Gänsehaut wenn die Violine von Billy Currie einsetzt. A timeless masterpiece. Ohh my god, it's 10 years ago now. Time flies. Astradyne was composed 40 years ago. A real all time Classic.
I have seen this band 4 times, mostly in the 80's but most recently in Birmingham in 2013 a special guests to Simple Minds. They are absolutely brilliant and still sounding as good in 2013 as they did in 1983. I do hope they find it in them to go out on tour again, even with the sad loss of Chris Cross ( maybe do it as a tribute to him )
Such an amazing track, first album I ever bought. At 05:10, it's an endorphin rush from there on in,,, just let those keyboards scream... amazing stuff. Branch to... Depeche Mode ever since..
The best instrumental song of this era, or, any era for that matter. The only other tune that can compare to this, is Simple Minds song Theme for Great Cities.
@@janfriend4390 I saw Midge in March 2020, probably the last show in Sydney before we got locked down for Covid. It was 3-4 songs in when we got Astradyne, Midge did the complete Vienna album.
From the 1980 album Vienna, 1st cut. A very good album, but not as good as Systems of Romance with John Foxx, the original founder and frontman of Ultravox! I saw them in 1978 at the Whiskey A Go-Go in West Hollywood, CA. the lineup of course was John Foxx, Robin Simon, Chris Cross, Billy Currie and Warren Cann. Fantastic concert. I was 22 years old back then.
Underground Warrior I saw the Vienna tour at a club in Phoenix, absolutely blew my mind!I was and still are a HUGE fan. Billy was a true influence on my violin and keyboard playing. I can play this solo on Astradyne note for note. He does some incredibly creative playing here. Staccato and legato simultaneously, which is insane! ❤️
Very sorry to hear the sad news of Chris Cross today.
R I P Chris, thanks for all of your great music.

Yup!!
Einfach nur ein wunderbares Musik Stück ❤ bravo
If everyone in the world felt the way this song makes me feel, nothing bad would ever happen ever again
SO true..
Astradyne is all about personal joy, strength and beauty 🌹
Great song, beautiful melody ... From Peruvian 👍🤘🗿
I remember when I first heard Astradyne, it totally blew me away. An amazing instrumental.
It still blows me away - absolutely fantastic track!
When you can play bass and a keyboard at the same time, you are on another plane of existence. Brilliant song.
Absolutely brilliant. Respect to the lads. One of the finest bands ever. Their music will live forever.
Rest in Peace Chris Cross !!!
So this is what talent sounds like. Wow.
Super 👌 gra na gitarze Basie syntezatorach i e.skrzypcach.Szacun Panowie z grupy Ultravox ❤❤❤❤😊I oczywiście perkusji

Man I wish I was back in the 80's, had such a great time.
Huh? I'm still here.

The best instrumental ever, these masters were well ahead of their time, including when John Foxx was with them.
No words. Well one … genius
Super geil
Saw them back in the day at First Avenue in Minneapolis. Loved them ever since.💜
Super 👌 song and band Ultravox ❤❤❤😂😂😂😊
Absolute masterpiece
Absolutely stellar. Having been a fan forever this live version is humbling, true masters of their instruments.Once in our lifetime
A stunning opening track to a simply sublime album. It’s taken me forty years to realise how good this album really is. 🧨🔥🎤🎸🥁🎹🎻🏴👌🥰
for 1983 my parents bought me a Walkman and 2 tape albums, Ultravox Vienna and Bob Marley and the Wailers Legend,, both epic masterpieces.
@@cirian75 Superb stuff. 83’ was an outstanding year for eclectic masterpieces. Bowie, Eurythmics, UB40. Where have 40 years gone. 🤷♂️🕺
Uhm…this is from 1980.
1979 even🤓
@@MrHoefnix Yes, I but I didn't get it until my 8th birthday in 1983.
Pffft. It took me two bars to realise it was a good album.
Cheers for Ultravox !! The unbeatable music band ❤️❤️❤️

I’m still on a failing mission to get my neighbours excited about Ultravox, but I’ll continue.
A fabulous track done brilliantly 100 %
Completely brilliant. Loved this band back in the day and this was my favourite album of theirs. Thanks for sharing.
If anyone tells me Ultravox did a better song than this instrumental masterpiece, you’re wrong.
p.s. Billy Currie is a musical genius
Nice one Thanks 😊
Beautiful! Very Neu!

Orion by Metallica too.
"The suburbs" (Arcade Fire) "INSTRUMENTAL"un saludo desde Barcelona
When drums are better than years ago. Nice.
deep emotion!
Fuck YEA!!!
El instrumental definitivo por lejos del synth-pop, new wave y todo lo que tenga que ver con "música electrónica".
Es "alucinante"jodeeeeer
Ein Meisterwerk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I MUST hear this song live in my lifetime
Probably the only chance now would be if you saw Midge on one of his solo tours.
Midge opened with it on his tour last year

Is that David Bowie at 3:29?

Vince Clarke, Depeche Mode and more.....
