That clam chowder is my favorite chowder on the wharf. It’s so good! 😍😍 tastes the same as I remember when I was younger. Watching this makes me want to go out there next weekend just for the chowder 🤔🤔
I grew up in Oregon and we didn't have to do any dioramas or models in school. I had a cool drafting class but that's as close as I got. That sounds like it was a fun project!
Aww, had I known you were in my area, I would have recommended some places! And done some fishing Leppard shark in Moss Landing, Stripper Monterey, a Cabazeon in Carmel!!!🎣 You guys ate at the Old Fisherman Grotto at the wharf? My favorite clam chowed!
We did have to do mission projects for California history. We also went to different missions around the area to see the stained glass windows. I think we did ours in 5th or 6th grade its been a while
Yes, I’m in Los Angeles we did the missions. I did mine in the early 90’s I think (it’s been many years lol). I did San Juan Capistrano which was the closest mission where I was.
I had the clam chowder from Old Fisherman's Grotto about a month ago and I still dream about it sometimes lol. Please tell me you scraped the bread on the inside of the bread bowl that had soaked up the chowder! That's the best part!
We did mission projects at Elkhorn elementary near Castroville CA as a 4th grader in 1972. Elkhorn slough then near Moss Landing was not as appreciated as it is now. The '70's were great in CA. Would not live there now, but nice to visit when I can blow a lot of $$$$.
You guys absolutely rock love every video glad you made it back safe Taku finish the book I can’t wait to read it I read cook books for fun and to gather new ideas
Aweee took my kids to point lobos yesterday for a hike then Carmel for dinner, my now 14 yr old has watched you guys for a couple years and would have lost it to see you guys. Next time 🤙🏼
Love Monterey! So glad you guys made it down here. The calamari and clam chowder are the best here! Did you guys get to try the different candied apples and taffy on the wharf? You guys have to come back and drive down Big Sur. (Currently down because of all the mud slides.) But hopefully it opens up soon!
Not this time. I (Jocelyn) used to get candied apples each time when I was little but I don't like sweets as much anymore. Big Sur has our favorite campsite, we were hoping to make it down there. :'(
Dang it. I wish I knew you were going there. Highly recommend Gino's Fine Italian Food restaurant, Robata Grill, Tarpy's Roadhouse & Turtle Bay Taqueria. Oh, well. Maybe next time. ^.^
Initially walked on the right when my friends and I visited Australia (from California) and it definitely altered the flow. Fortunately we met someone from the states that was living in Sydney and corrected our behavior when it came time. It was still weird when we crossed the street and we looked the “wrong” way. Anyway we’re still alive lol
I do like celery in a Bloody Mary. I also like a couple feta stuffed olives and some pickled green beans. Never tried bacon but I’m sure I’d like it. Often thought about opening a restaurant with a Bloody Mary bar. Where people can add what they like.
There are less expensive options… Next time try wharf #2, the one on the right (north). If your looking for the locals version of The Grotto, try The Sandbar, same great food, just a bit easier on your pocketbook.
Hey Taku and Jocelyn, you spent that much$ and couldn't eat anymore fried. But then you got a fried Canoli🤣! Good luck with your book, Taku👍. I prefer dark chocolate too🎉. JO JO IN VT 💞
Taku and Jocelyn Those drinks and stuff were made by Rip M. Off You both are practical, and really good food doesn't have to be like that! California is a really Taxing State. I wonder how the regular folks survive? In 1968 I was on the17 mile drive, what an amazing place and gas was only28 to 32 cents a gallon!!!! Now it's 5.27, 19 times higher!!! Do you really want a permanent home in California?
You'll find that good tasting celery up ahead in Salinas, Watsonville areas. Nice local harvest. Ft Ord used to be there. Eastwood was mayor in Carmel, been expensive ever since.
Went to San Juan Capistrano about 30 miles from where I grew up. I think it was 3rd grade for us. I drew a picture but I think others made models of it.
Ooommmgggg a chowder bread bowl sounds soooo good right now😩 Also, i hope i can snag the cook book before it sells out🫣 Also also, for the chocolate, i don’t like KitKats in the states. But in Thailand, i absolutely love them. Ive been told that the Japanese ones are even better. Can this be confirmed?
Damn, You make me feel old! I graduated high school in 85, and I remember walking across the street from school and going hunting with my vice principal after school.
🔥🔥🔥 episode y’all, Monterey is the wife’s and my Go-2 vacation spot ✊🏼🧐. We prefer the laid back atmosphere as opposed to like Pismo. To many people with the Party vibes… lol. Cheers 🍻
My parents used to host Chiopino parties, dad would make a sauce and add some crab and a couple loaves of sourdough, the guests would bring whatever seafood they wanted.
LOL Yes to Missions assignment!
IYKYK, California Michael’s stores had styrofoam Missions models 😂 What a time
OMGGG THE MISSION PROJECT IN 4th GRADE!!! From San Francisco and definitely remember that!!
Yes, I had to do a mission project, and I live in Southern California. It was the forth grade in the 1980s as well. So many sugar cubes!
Monterey and Carmel !!!! MY FAVORITE Coastal towns.................!
I love them too, but also find some time to cruise up to Mendocino, its a hidden gem.
That clam chowder is my favorite chowder on the wharf. It’s so good! 😍😍 tastes the same as I remember when I was younger. Watching this makes me want to go out there next weekend just for the chowder 🤔🤔

4th grade mission projects 😅 remember them vividly. You could see who had "help" 😂 and who did them by themselves as instructed.
I distinctly remember those mission projects! Right along with learning about the state flag and the (basic) history of Calfornia...
Love seeing you guys together ❤️ 💗
In Florida in 4th grade we did FL history... lots of Spanish Conquistador stuff as well! lol
Hello you two glad to see you both together again. Enjoyed both your video while Jocelyn in Mexico and Taku in Japan 👍

I run national sales for Caraccioli! I hope you enjoyed the wines ;). They are definitely the best sparkling producer in CA (maybe even the USA)
Sponsor these two kiddos!
We had to build a mission out of sugar cubes and white frosting. Oh the memories..
that sounds kinda fun. I feel like ours was so serious, some kids built some really nice realistic models.
@@TaklyntheWorld it was amazing how realistic some of the missions turned out 👀😃

Looks like a disaster on a stik til you see the straw 'n drink. The rest was pretty cool. Cali-style round Monterey. I miss the PCH. Memphis, 10

Really enjoy your videos. Come to Marin and visit Sausalito. We'll treat you to dinner at Sushi Ran for a little cookbook inspiration! I know a guy

I saw Joslyn in Trader Joe’s a few weeks ago. Didn’t see Taku or the van . That parking lot is a mess though.
Scene cut after Jocelyn said “the darker the better” Taku was definitely laughing 😂

Great video 👍👍
I saw you at Trader Joe’s and wanted to say hi, but you were shopping and I didn’t want to seem weird 😂!
is the audio consistent with everyone else after 8:58?

A nice seafood dinner, wine, and expensive chocolate? Were you celebrating your anniversary or something?
Old fisherman’s grotto? Looks right.
The wife and I fancy the “Grotto”, hasn’t disappointed yet 👊🏼😎🤙🏼

That's a cool place
Monterey, Carmel
It makes me want to go off path when I visit point lobos after you mentioned the porcini....but I don't want to go to jail for mushrooms lol
I’m from San Diego and we had to build the missions in groups in fourth grade. Simple times.
Dang you got to do it as a group? We had to do it solo and it was supposed to be an accurate replica.
Love Pangea!
I also recommend Lula's Chocolates. Also, pricey, but worth it. Keep up the awesome work. And, take care.
One of my fav couples❤ Jocelyn LOVE your sweater where did you get it?
Keep right! I live in Turkey and some people here think it's London. I chew them out.
I did the mission dioramas in 4th or 5th grade. I was way NorCal
You'll find that good tasting celery up ahead in Salinas, Watsonville areas. Nice local harvest. Ft Ord used to be there. Eastwood was mayor in Carmel, been expensive ever since.
Oh thanks! Might have to go get some.
Yes do a Cioppino recipe, please. I seldom buy a cookbook but I plan to purchase yours.
AGREED 🫡

Celery is also delicious with vege cream cheese
The best chicharrones i ever ate was right off the freeway at Santa Barbara.
Nice couple😊
Looks like a good day
Oh you are from Monterey too ?
My hometown is Monterey
Was that the Sandbar restaurant?
I went to elementary school in Berkeley. We made adobe bricks😂
This is so funny! Someone else said the same thing.
Yes!! Original valley girl here and yes we visited every mission. Love the bay area too!!
What hotel or where did you all stay at ?
Love Monterey
What’s a good hiking spot with views in san Francisco?
I was born in 85 and I remember making Adobe bricks in elementary
Damn, You make me feel old! I graduated high school in 85, and I remember walking across the street from school and going hunting with my vice principal after school.
We are coming to Big Sur in 2 weeks if you want to meet and fish or snorkel lmk.

❤❤❤
Yeah we us to make a replica of the mission in grade school
GoGo Taquitos!
Haven’t watch you guys in awhile. Did Joselyn get older or is it just me? 😊
Yes i did a mission project
You could totally do a video of what you eat at home just like regular food
Also good in a Bloody Mary... dilly bean !
Please put ciapano in your cook book.
Next time try Crepes of Brittany at the Portola and Domenicos
Kids still study about missions in 4th grade. However, not all teachers assign making the mission anymore.
13:50 Joc's cute sweater matches the "wine" glasses....we see what you did there ;)
They had my boy Taku in ELS like me 😅
Wow those drinks are expensive.
Probably the nicest teeth I've ever seen!
My parents used to host Chiopino parties, dad would make a sauce and add some crab and a couple loaves of sourdough, the guests would bring whatever seafood they wanted.
That's a good party idea!
Aloha. I think that’s how it originated, with fishermen.
Be careful forging in California there's hefty fines
lol the Celery was the best.lol note
You just got up
Always always a complaint about the weather
Says the guy constantly complaining in our comments 😂
Stay the course 😂😂😂!!!
I totally agree with you about the wine tasting selling speech!
Holler at me if you come back
We didn't build a mission in 4/5 but we did visit a few missions in 4/5th grade.
I swear I you cheat on my boy taku your world is gonna come crashing before your eyes
I was homeschooled but I remember the mission project!
$15 Blue Moons are too pricey.
Just say cannoli. Singular and plural.
