It is very possible that it is aluminum, I don't say no, but I have seen quite a few Chinese pens that are very light considering their size, with the body made of a stainless steel so thin and of such low quality that it was almost as easy to bend like aluminum .
@@InkquiringMinds Well, my Hongdian 100 has also arrived, and it is a rather big and heavy pen, but it is also a pen that looks very cool with a generous nib and for the writing, it writes very well, the feeling it gives when you put the nib on the paper is very similar to the one given by Faber-Castell nibs . The only thing that raises a bit of concern is the transparent plastic rod of the piston which seems to me to be a bit flimsy, it gives you the feeling that if you somehow drop the pen on the ground it is possible for that rod to break.

I've got both the Centennial and 517D pens, and I think for your usage you would enjoy the feel of the Centennial much more. It's quality acrylic, and pleasantly light. The 517D is heavier and has more the feel of an office pen without much character, more about being elegant and functional.

I'm generally not a fan of metal pens, but this one's not too shabby. The artwork looks cool, posting the pen works well, and the metal grip was designed well for gripping. Taking a stab at how they are made, annealed, work hardening aluminum alloy tubing, roll formed on deformable mandrel. The forming tool would be a roller with the artwork machined in relief on the outer circumference. The rolling process would naturally harden the initially soft tubing. The mandrel could be an inflatable bladder, or a hard rubber roller fitting the ID of the tubing. This would be for high volume production. For lower volume production, CNC forming similar to automated guilloche, but instead of engraving, a harden tip embosses the artwork in several incremental passes. This works for low to medium production numbers. Since this is a Chinese made product, there is every production method available there to farm out any method required, so it might have been something different entirely. Enjoyed the review and I chuckled at the Dr. Brown reference. 👍😁

Cool! Thanks!
@@InkquiringMinds Thank you for all the wonderful reviews!
Very shinny, and I wonder if it will stay so being aluminum? Inquiring minds. :)
I think it will as aluminum doesn't tarnish.
Из какого именно металла изготовлен корпус ручки. Спасибо
Я предполагаю, что это штампованный алюминий.
@@InkquiringMinds Спасибо. Удачи
hongdian 100 or hongdian n6?
I like the N6 better. The 100 is a bit too heavy and chunky for me.
Reminds me of yard o led
Not nearly as heavy!
Love the n7 you reviewed and I purchased. I'll pass on this one because it looks chunky.
I wasn't a fan of the N7 options available, but the shiny metal and a red star made me buy one.
@@archivist17 I like that the pen is beautiful, just too large for me.
@@wendyholiday2021 to be honest, it's probably too big for me, too, but I still want it ;)
Very nice pen, it may increase in value in a few years, Chinese pens are often of a higher quality than the price suggests, I also recommend fountain pens from the French brand Oberthur which are of good quality for fair prices.
Snakoss.
I've sold it.
Thank heavens for a knurled knob! I'm fed up of trying to clean pens with a slippery smooth turning knob.
IKR?
Ooooo
I detect a little Roger Whittaker! 👍
Jethro Tull actually! LOL
The characters say...wait for it...'Made in China'
I asked my Chinese friend, 😅
LOL
I’m not familiar with the technical term, “frou, frou”. ?😳
The word made its first appearance in English in 1870 as a noun meaning "rustling." It later came to mean "ostentatious decoration”.
Hmmm…must be a Canadian thing. 🤣
@@bradbeth63 LOL Actually French! :)
Not for me: too ostentatious. I also bear in mind that something "in honor" of the biggest killer party in modern history is also not for me 🙂
wdym "biggest killer party"
Those 4 Chinese characters on the cap 中国制造 means made in China.
The characters mean “made in China”.
