In this video, we'll discuss what's best for your situation whether you work in the oil and gas, electrical, or construction industries. From balaclavas to beanies to hard hat liners, you have options, but not all options are created equal.
Did you know you can lose 40 to 45% of your body heat through the top of your head if it's exposed? In the cold winter months, it is essential that you have your head, neck, and face covered to keep you warm and in top shape on your job site.
If you're shopping for Fire Retardant Clothing for your job in the oil and gas, electric, or construction industries you need to thing about THREE things when purchasing a head, neck, and face covering for your job site...
#1) How versatile is the garment?
#2) How warm do you want to be?
#3) What part of your head do you want to keep warm?
In this video, we'll go over four different types of FR Garments and how they answer those three questions above.

A con for the balaclava is that the mouth and nose area gets wet from breathing out and if you’re riding in the wind, it can be miserable with a cold wet rag over your mouth . I’m looking for solutions that prevent mouth breath moisture.

Here's an idea, put on a hardhat so we can see how the products fit with the headgear!!

Great idea! Maybe we'll do a post script video soon showing the face masks with headgear. Thanks! Be sure to follow us for the updated video if you don't follow us already.

I bought something like the last example years ago for hunting. It doesn’t do much for keeping my head warm so I wear a beanie over it. Only reason I still use it is to have camo over my face. And pulling it down to let your glasses Defog for a minute doesn’t help. As soon as it goes back on it goes right back to fogged up. I know because I’ve used it for 4 years and wear glasses when I don’t use contacts. But the worst part is when it’s over you mouth and nose all the moisture builds up and acts like a freezing cold rag pulled tight to your face. I would go with the carhartt with face mask or one that doesn’t hug tight to your face would be good to still block wind and help retain some heat

Thank you for the comment KYote 422. My safety glasses would always give me issues with fog when wearing anything that covered my nose and mouth. I have used Cat Crap (an anti-fog cream) in the past to help with fogging issues and we have safety glasses with a military grade anti-fog on them. Here is a link to that video. ua-cam.com/video/-rNnG95dSJk/v-deo.html. I know you are wearing prescription glasses so these safety glasses may not help but there are options out there for you.
It is tough because you want your face to be warm but then the trade off can be foggy glasses or ice on the garment from your breath. I like your idea about a loose fitting mask. That would keep the wind off your neck and keep some of the fog and ice away. Thank you for the comment!
