      Been playing for a long long time, and even went to music school - so this doesn't seem like magic (although his playing is magical). What it DOES seem like is top-quality musicianship, made possible through a lot of practice and a lot of playing. :-) Paul is the real deal!

    I' decided to pick up the guitar and start playing last month. I've put in over two hundred hours of practice since then. The journey has just begun.
    What I have noticed in my learning, is nothing short of astonishing. The connections are there. Just believe in yourself. Thank you 🙏 Paul. One day, I'll share with you my creations and show you how much you inspired me.

    Nice! Paul, if you haven't already then could you please do a video detailing how you made this video. Everything from how the pedals are set up, how the pads work, how you dialled in each sound etc... I think at the very least we'd all like to know the basics of using a laptop to loop with only one pedal for start/stop recording etc, and if there's a looping app/VST that's NOT Ableton that we could alternatively use for FREE that'd be awesome too :-D

    i'd love to see a tutorial video on how you do this - the equipment, the setup beforehand, what your thought process is - ie: how much is pre-planned and how much is off the cuff, etc. this is way beyond a simple looper pedal and i'd love to take that next step towards something like this.

      I would also love to see this. I have no experience with Ableton and would love to learn how to do this sort of thing.

      Seriously. I want to know *HOW*. Every connection, setup, everything.

    • @jdiggitty
      @jdiggitty 6 років тому +3

      He's using an Ableton Push. That's the "push button" unit he's using. It comes with software that has the bass and drum sounds in it(along with a lot of other stuff) Essentially, you set a tempo, then you can force everything else to snap into that tempo on the Push. (you'll see the pads light up as the beat goes on, the highlighted pads indicate a note/drum to be played. And you can change this at will by touching the pads) Then you do the same for a bass line over top and so forth. He's switching sounds when you see him twisting the knobs.
      If I remember right from an earlier vid, he uses a MIDI control for looping within Ableton. I have a Push and Ableton Live, but I was never able to get the latency low enough to record guitar in it with my setup.

      Steevkelly. Try looking up seed to stage by Anthony thogmartin (earthcry). He has an extensive tutorial on setting loops and how to assign your tools to your midi. As well as looping in track mixer. It's very informative. He uses push but these tutorials are not worth a push but other midis and his guitar. Helped me a lot

    It’s very hard to choose a favourite piece of music of all time, but a current favourite is sometimes much easier. Personally I tend to have one favourite that can last from several months to a few years with occasional gaps between these periods where nothing really stands out. My last “current favourite” was Kodaline’s “High Hopes”, and it’s reign over me ended about a year ago. I just realised that this piece has taken the spot as of several months ago, maybe January.
    I could have just said “this is my current favourite song” but wanted to emphasise that for me that isn’t something that changes very often, and this piece has stayed on the spot even though three of my favourite bands released new albums this year.
    So, thank you Paul. Your work is phenomenal.

    Problem with a tutorial on something like this is, theres alot going on here, and quite a few VERY nice toys involved. A profiling amp like a Kemper, the Push pad to launch presets in Ableton Live, plug ins, whammy pedal, switcher pedal, etc...Trying to do this so fluidly without the Push would be difficult. Can still be done, but going in and out of presets would be rough without it if you want this kind of fluidity. Still VERY well done. Inspiring.
