No disrespect towards the other Genesis members, past and present, but to me Tony was the driving force behind the band, and this new music is a wonderful way to keep the spirit alive.
everybody knows that, especially like myself being Tony's music fan for more than forty years, that's my way of saying "yes, you are right":):):)
:)
Banks, Hackett, Rutherford
yes - you are correct sir.
I totally agree.
Banks using his famous crosshands technique, been a long time !!
hasn't it?
2:51 Clarinetist: That's a bassoon, not an oboe!
Bassoonist: Oh crap!
Funny moment :)
This was immediately my favourite piece on the album. There's a wistfulness about it that makes me think of some of the happiest times in my life and feel quite emotional. It's almost like I've always known this piece from somewhere and was just waiting for it come back to me. Stunning x
This should be a Soundtrack to film... you can almost see the scenes play out when the atmosphere changes.
John Gardner apaqa kmu adalah aq?
Totally agree!
OMG. I can't stop listning to this piece. Absolute fantastic. Tony Banks is back, and still superb 😁
Just can't stop revisiting these pieces. A new ear to such complex music. My eyes and especially my ears hear sound differently.
Good old Banks. It reminds me ''One for the vine'' and Duke's travel.Thank you Tony!
Aah, the old cross hand technique makes a welcome return.
Beautiful composed, orchestrated and played. Banks was always going to end up writing music like this. Excellent!
He always did, except he only wrote it for 5 then 4 and then 3 players.
Think of Carpet Crawlers when listening to this, incredible musician.
I was a huge Genesis fan back in the day, and I loved Tony's keyboards, but I always thought he was more classical than rock. Classical isn't my thing, but this is lovely. A musician is a musician no matter what.
Heard while on hold with Apple Customer Support
He has come full circle in my life as I've been a fan since I was 11. I'm 63 and I feel so proud of all he has accomplished. Music is my medicine or my air I breathe. I know most of his entire Genesis lyrics along with the instruments in my head. Ask my husband as I sing them every day.
Beautiful! Tony's got It!
Jsem pyšná, že zrovna naše česká filharmonie se ujala díla Tonyho Bankse. Miluju Genesis, moje celoživotní láska... 💗
If I had one word to describe this piece, it would be Hope. 😍
this piece is one of the best of Banks creation wonderful music soft and happiness. Why are you are waiting so long time to writing this piece. You are a great composer!!!!!!!thanks a lot sorry for the others Members of Genesis!!!!!!!!!
The ever renewed genius of Tony Banks.Absolutely magnificent and majestic!
Wish I had a DVD of these the complete performances of this wonderful album!! I love this album!!
i just want to say thank you tony...
Thank you Tony
Brilliant Tony!!! Saludos!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDMASTER BANKS!!!
This album will go down as a classic.
Oh my....................totally outstanding!
At minute 6:55 the music itself levitates to another dimension. So beautiful!
leitemagal from that part on, I just cry like a baby. There's something deeply sad about that part.
Tears in my eyes, thank you Tony
Majestueux!! Merci Mr Tony Banks.
So cinematic, and again thanks Tony for introducing me to Ravel and the composers that influenced you. Oh yeah, who can't forget the amazing Keith Emerson.
A superb piece. I was listening to the extra tracks from the three Genesis box sets yesterday and thought how wonderful it would be if Tony took some solo tracks, some orchestral pieces and rare Genesis pieces never (AFAIK) played live such as the wonderful Evidence of Autumn -- and put a show together. I'm sure in places like the Royal Albert Hall and the Birmingham Symphony Hall, he'd sell the places out. Fish is fairly quiet at present, so he could take on the majority of the vocals.
One can only imagine, I'm in NY, I would put everything aside to see that.
I discovered Tony Banks and Genesis when I was 13 and it was love at first listen! The following year I was in Turin to attend my first concert (Selling England By The Pound) and in 1975 in Turin again for The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway Tour. Thanks to Tony Banks I got so passionate about their music that I started playing keyboards, trying to reproduce as faithfully as possible all his songs (although I only play by ear and I live music as a simple hobby) and even today the emotion I feel in doing that is great and fills me up of joy. It's already a great pleasure to listen to this music, you can imagine what it means to play it! Five is a wonderful album and Reveille is my favorite composition. Thanks Tony, I would like to meet you one day, I was so close to you without knowing it last September, at Cadogan Hall in London, at the Big Big Train concert, where you were among the spectators, like me.
A couple years ago, I spent two months transcribing all the various keyboard solos he's ever done between '70 and '80, including the ones off A Curious Feeling and the one off of that Spot the Pigeon ep Genesis did just before Hackett left. Also, in the process, I was able to accurately reproduce a lot of his patches via various soft-synths. Still not sure what to do with it all... 🤔 Too bad his 70th birthday already came and went before I could think of anything.
A musician who never ceases to amaze me. And to delight me.
Beautiful, perfect, peaceful, etc.
Maestro Banks! Utterly superb composition, arrangement and performance! Core Genesis DNA in a different mode of expression.
Fantastic sound, my only problem is that the piano is difficult to hear. Though what a tune. Hats off to the trumpeter he was brilliant.
YOU ARE A GREAT MASTER 🎹 TONY CONGRATS 👏 👏👏👏👏👏👋
EXCELLENT, MAGNIFICENT
Just one word...¡¡¡ YEAH...Stunning performance...
Finally Tony's solo career reinvindicated. Who knew a Classical composer was his True calling. Thank you Mr Banks for this Masterpiece (third time after seven and six). Your Genesis bandmates could never do this.....this is truly Remarkable
So happy to watch Tony playing piano again. The marimba line reminds me of John Adams, by the way (the American composer).
Despite the great voices of Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins, but for me the symphonic souls of Genesis were Tony Banks and Steve Hackett!
This is nothing less than total & complete musical perfection!!😊😋
When I listen to this exquisite piece of music, it brings The Border from
Bankstatement to mind, and it makes me wonder how many of your
other incredible melodies might sound in an orchestral arrangement🤔
Thank you!👍, Mr.Banks, for keeping the torch lit for progressive music.
Whether it be in a symphonic, rock or poprock context, you’ve never let
me down at any point in the 35 years I have enjoyed every chord of all
your compositions - and I do not feel in any way that any of your tracks
were “a chord too far”😉 To the contrary am I of the strong belief, that the
reason why your Genesis compositions as well as any of your wonderful
solo compositions continuesly bring me joy, is because of the complex
nature of your compositionel structures!
Thank you, again, for all your work, and for, through so many years,
fulfilling my listening pleasure of what I consider to be “perfect music”,
because of its ability to convey so many personal feelings, whilst
it still manages to provoke and soothe the heart and the soul
of general human nature.
Keep up the the good work & I expect that you will enlighten us all
with at least four more albums of symphonic works?😋 - (4,3,2, & 1)
With kind regards, Mike from Denmark (a truly devoted fan!!)
Well said!
His brilliant, he just is. Lovely album, classic in more then one way.
This must be my most heard song of the last three years.. i use it as my alarm clock sound. best way to start the day^^
This is Heavenly, and why not...Banks' compositions alway's did sour to the Heavens.
I think you meant "soar" ....
You made me cry of joy and gratitude for the gift that the good Lord put in your hands. Thank you, thank you a thousand times. You are a healer of the soul!!
Utter sweeping majesty... followed by peaceful serenity. It doesn't get to be any better than this.
Very nice piece. Although, when it comes to the choir, I will always prefer a Mellotron. The choir on the Mellotron give me the chills ! Certainly for a good part because of a certain mr. Tony Banks !
Amazing Amazing Amazing💙💙💙💙💙✨✨✨
Thanks Tony, for keeping this flame alive. And thanks Emily, for register in pictures and videos for us, fans 😊
Majestueux, noble, quand la musique nous élève dans les divines sphères du beau,du bon et du bien.
Great, romantic and spiritually uplifting piece. Nice to hear on a story rd my winter's day. Tony old time Genesis hero, I owe you for your beautiful music!
Traces of An Island in the Darkness song in the middle of the slow section!!!
GREAT TALENT 🎹 PIANO, ORGAN & OTHERS TONY CONGRATS 👏👏👏 GREATS FROM MÉXICO 👋
This is an absolutely magnificent composition by Tony!!! It has me tearing up as I listen. It has all the classic earmarks of Genesis!!! He just gets better & better!!!! Can't wait to receive my copy!! Thanks to Tony Banks for creating such imaginative pieces!!! I'd love to see a tour with Tony & an orchestra!
I'll keep beating this drum until my arm falls off but I really think Tony should do the score for a classical ballet. His music is romantic in the highest sense and could be perfect in combination with a great choreographer, classical dance company and a good story. I am not a choreographer but I can listen to something like this, close me eyes and see dancers on a dramatically lit stage. I passed on the latest (last) tour but would stand in line in the rain for tickets to a Banks scored ballet. His music always stands on its but would be wonderful in the service of a visual medium such as the ballet.
GENESIS , i love you
Tony Banks is amazing! All those instruments sound ridiculously cool together.
A beautiful piece so reminiscent of all of his work. The undoubted master of progressive rock.
Beautiful 👍💕😊
i have goosebumps. ❤️
This is one of the best compositions I have ever heard! This is a pure Genesis prog Banks style. The best from FIVE. Love it! Powerful! Can you imagine this set live? Oh my God! Fantastic! Congratulations!!!
Agreed - absolutely wonderful
Amazing
it s great composition classic wanderful Mr Tony banks thanksss
This is just plain jawdropping! Fabulous!
Bought this album on vinyl when it came out, absolutely fabulous and perfect for just wallowing away and chilling out.
Great work Tony! You are blessed with a wonderful gift from God.
When you listen to Tony's compositions outside of Genesis such as these enchanting pieces of work... you totally understand how much his contribution to Genesis is, in my humble opinion, so underestimated. Genesis would simply not have enjoyed the success they have experienced without Tony Banks, and the fans would never have enjoyed their music to the extent we have without Mr. Banks. Thank you so much sir.
I stood up from my sofa only to turn on my stereo, connect the phone and hear this new Tony Banks signed piece
Definitely a natural progression for Tony from composing for Genesis to a full orchestra. 'tis nice to see him fully spread his wings.
Absolutely Fantastic!!! Another Genesis Theme!
awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great Tony!
KILLER!!! Thanks for posting!!
WOW!! 👏👏👏 Beautiful!Love this! Never cease to impress with his talents. Bravo!
Astounding
Once again. congratulations, superb!!!
LA GRANDE MENTE DEI GENESIS
Pezzo splendido, meraviglioso
Stunning piece of work
Wow tony
Great music. It could be a movie soundtrack.
Wonderful...Thank You ¡
Obra de arte música de culto placer a nuestros más íntimos sentidos gracias Tony bank
Maravilhoso! ❤️
This is such an awesome piece of music.
Ravel, Debussy and Mr Tony. such as impressionist french era
Grandissimo tony fin dai primi genesis. Il tempo sta rendendo giustizia al suo immenso talento di compositore. Lo ascolto da 45 anni e comtinua ad entusiasmarmi. Fantastico
Love it, a delicious feast for the ears! ❤️ 😊
Absolutely brilliant, as usual Mr Banks !
Fun fact: The title is strange to me, because altgough it’s grammaticarly correct, we never use « réveille » in French, it would be « réveille-toi » or « réveille-le » for example. The wakening is « réveil ». Anyway the piece of music perfectly describes a wakening on a very pleasant day.
YESSSSSSS! Reaching 10.000 views!!! SUPERB!!!!
So great to hear this! Very exciting composition and dynamics with moving strings and soaring atmospheres!
Solo ou no Genesis, Toni Banks sempre é o diferencial que dá brilho a qualquer composição com seu talento.
Very serene , moody nice piece, in a way different too . Still I think the best is the prelude to a million years . Strong album because of the careful orchestration this time . The previous albums were not as much balanced as this new one. The modulations, though very daring this time, seem flowing very smoothly . Enjoying looking at tony behind the acoustic piano with his deep eyes down into the black and white keys(like in the old days).
That is realy nice
👍😊🎶🎉🌞
Спасибо Tony! Замечательная музыка, это лучшее, что я слышал в последнее время.
Damn it, destroyed my speakers with this song.
Reminiscent of the instrumental pieces on A Curious Feeling.
Un gioiello! Mi ricorda la sua "An Island in the Darkness".
Amigo Tony banks muchos saludos rino tuccini argentina
