    Thanks for this video. For that center piece, in addition to the central pin, I also had an extra retainer attached to the power steering fluid line coming out of the resevoir. Same engine/layout, on a VW Routan.

      Literally the reason I am here is for the Routan

    Thanks so much for this video- I was working on my husband's 2017 Grand Caravan, his work vehicle, that suddenly started sputtering & kicking with the lightning-bolt-looking dash light coming on. I'd stop the van, turn it off for a few minutes, and then start it up & it'd be fine for several miles before limping again. I was irritated because it's only 3 years old... I Googled a bunch and watched this video and I was able to get the part off just fine. That center piece right next to the throttle, with the pin that doesn't want to come out-- I used the claw of a hammer & carefully rocked it against the casing to get that pin out. BUT I ended up finding a clean, unused plastic pin bolt inside the casing that must have been dropped in there during installation. The pin must have bouncing around & up against the throttle damper. I suspect that was the problem all along because the throttle wasn't even really that messy, the car is only 3 years old, and after putting it all back together again the whole thing is just fine.
    Thanks again for these detailed videos, I hate spending my hard earned money on work I can do myself! My husband & I both drive the same model, so if this ever goes bad on mine (a 2012) I'll be set!

    My 2014 DGC has decided it dont want to start today, jumping it didnt help, and there is no sounds to indicate the starter is fouled. Only thing i see is the lightning bolt on my dash when i try to start it. Googling that led me to the throttle control.. and here. Does that make sense?

    Broke the plastic pin pulling it out (You literally have to pull up on the middle dot until it releases) but i wanted to mention to anyone else that was confused like me, there are two plastic joints or nipples that the cover is seated on in the back and you have to give a good strong upwards yank to get it off.

    Does the check engine light always come on with the ETC light? And will the defective throttle body keep the vehicle from turning over completely, or do I have multiple issues at play you think?

    • @raybishop85
      @raybishop85  3 роки тому +1

      No the check engine light might not always come on. If it’s not turning over completely than most likely you might also have a problem with the fuel pump relay. The issue with fixing that is that they are soldered directly into the totally integrated power module. But you can bypass it. I will make a video explaining how to do it tomorrow

    • @WizzRacing
      @WizzRacing 3 роки тому

      @@raybishop85 Yeah.. As long as the module is sending the signal to the IPS box.. You can use a normal relay...

    • @raybishop85

      I would recommend replacing it, but I have herd of people cleaning them and they worked fine, but I didn’t want to take any chances.

  • @NEWNATURE777
    @NEWNATURE777 4 роки тому +2

    Observation, I would rather have cleaned the throttle body first and recalibrate it first, they're many videos on YT. Always disconnect battery cable first when working on newest car first 👍

    • @raybishop85
      @raybishop85  4 роки тому +3

      SLICK WHEELS I would have but with the way it was running let me know it was time to change and I didn’t want to take any chance since this is my wife’s van and she drivers herself and our children around, so I didn’t want to take the chance of any breakdowns. Also yes you are correct always disconnecting the battery is step one on newer cars.

    hi b go the days. My car doesn't start in the morning when the engine is cold. Can you explain to me what your fault was when you replaced that part. or what piece do you think is wrong in my car

    • @raybishop85
      @raybishop85  3 роки тому +1

      I think the issue might be with the fuel pump relay. I had an issue with mine and I had to make a jump to bypass the original relay. I can show you in a video if you like. Dodge had issues with the fuel pump relay going out but instead of having it easy to replace, they instead soldered it directly onto the TIPM ( total integrated power module). I can show you a quick and easy fix for this until you can replace the relay on the TIPM .

      @@raybishop85 Thank you very much for answering. but the problem I have is only in the morning when the temperature is very low. for example when it is above 38F it starts perfectly. and unless that does not start. the solution is the same in what you tell me?

      Yes, I was having similar issues but only on cold mornings. I made the relay bypass and it’s been doing great.

    Hi,I'm having a trouble with my 2013 Grand Caravan. The issue is that it like shakes when coming to a stop and sometimes,even turns off. I thought it was the transmission,but I'm not sure. Would you know what the problem would be? Recently,the engine light turned on and it gave me the P0420 code. I took the GC to the warranty and they replaced the catalytic converter. Now there is no engine light on,but the shaking/turning off when stopping problem still continues.

    • @raybishop85

      morganix007 That sounds odd that your engine light isn’t on because you do have a problem somewhere. Does it only shake when you are pressing the brake? I will try to reply back ASAP. You can also email me at overvieweffect85@gmail.com

    Thx

    • @raybishop85
      @raybishop85  5 років тому

      yes it can. It can also be the fuel pump. These vans don't always have the best fuel pump relay which is soldered into your TIPM. I would recommend checking these of your list first.

      @raybishop85  5 років тому

      @@TBruce1380 The P2111 OBD-II trouble code is one of number of possible codes that indicates that the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) has detected a malfunction with the operation of the Throttle Actuator Control System.

      Keep in mind this can also be your fuel pump relay.

      Possible causes of this code may include: Faulty throttle body, Dirty throttle plate or linkage, Faulty throttle position sensor, Defective accelerator pedal position sensor, Throttle actuator control motor is defective Corroded or damaged connector, Faulty or damaged wiring Faulty PCM
      .
      Common Repairs: Replacing throttle body, Cleaning throttle plate and linkage, Replacing throttle position sensor, Replacing throttle actuator control motor, Replacing accelerator pedal position sensor, Cleaning corrosion from connectors, Repairing or replacing wiring, Flashing or replacing PCM
      The first step in the troubleshooting process for any malfunction is to research the Technical Service Bulletins (TSB's) for the specific vehicle by year, model and power plant. In some circumstances this can save a lot of time in the long run by pointing you in the right direction.

      N Hill it is vital that you take it to a shop you can trust. Also most shops are going to charge you for two hours for the install and reprogramming. It won’t take them that long at all but most will charge it. I wish I had my own shop to do business with better practices.
