This is a good reason not to get excessively fussy with details on a project (like some UA-camrs do). It's helpful to set a reasonable standard yet be mindful that a texting driver in a rented Altima can end everything in a heartbeat.
I know the feeling. An F350 Dually did the same thing to my C5Z. And in my case I couldn't even do anything about the truck's driver - since it was me. Yep. Backed into my own Vette in my driveway. Just forgot where I'd parked it.
Oh man, I’ve really been enjoying this build and am bummed out to see the broken fiberglass. Glad the guy had insurance to cover it. Keep up the great work!
Oh wow... DAMN DUDE!!! This is truly a bummer. Well, just look at it like this... After you Sue the driver of the truck for property damage, physical injury, emotional stress, mental anguish, loss of work due to all mentioned above. You've got more content. Wishing you the best in a bad situation. I think you may come out on top on this one.
@@jamesharris2615 haha seriously. I gotta say it was emotionally distressing to watch a big truck slowly back up onto the front of my car. I’ll hear the sound of crunching fiberglass in my nightmares for a long time I think.
bought my brothers crippled 70 454 that i thought just needed head gaskets, had a damaged block - bought a 402 out of a wrecked sheriffs car and rebuilt it stout, ran like a bat out of LLeh : my bro married a woman who worshiped him so she gave me 10K back in 92 , he got hit by a new dodge Ram by girls joyriding in their dads truck , he ended up ok but with a pinched nerve but the car was in little pieces (sure wish i could have salvaged that motor)
Man, that's a huge bummer, but awesome that insurance is covering the repairs! I am curious about the insurance covering your car. I have a vintage car under normal liability insurance (not collectible based), and I always worry about this. Did the other guy's insurance company try to total out your car for a low amount??
@@petea actually it’s the other guy’s insurance that’s covering the whole thing, I’m not involving my insurance at all. They were actually very good about acknowledging the car’s collector value and even said they’d account for the work I did LS swapping it in the total value. It didn’t seem like they were anywhere near totaling it based off the shop’s initial quote.
@ oh and to answer your other question, I have agreed-value insurance policies on all of my cars. Meaning if something were to ever happen it would be valued at the dollar amount I chose to insure it for.
Why not put in a 6 or 6.2 liter engine instead of a tiny 4.8 liter engine? If you are going thru all that work, why not choose the better engine. Great job, sir. Sorry about the wreck.
@@jackthereefer1 4.8s make nice little high revving engines with the shorter stroke vs the 5.3 and 6.0, which makes them great for boost. I also got it cheap, haha.
