Omg yes my wife moved our scale from the upstairs bathroom to the downstairs and it changed by a good 10 15lbs x.x in the direction i didnt want it to go to
Another tip is to weigh yourself on the SAME SCALE THREE TIMES. Zeroing it first, of course. Sometimes, you might get a different reading. If you do, simply zero the scale again, step on, and if it's still way off, take the median of all the readings. Great tips!
+ you can test the accuracy of your scale with weights (although i’m not sure if there are minor discrepancies between brands for weights, and i wouldn’t doubt it). or if you have an object and you know for a fact is weighs x, you could use that. and it’s important to know where to put your weight - shifting pressure from your heels to the balls of your feet can give a different reading
I have not been able to budge lower than 200 lately, so I started not looking at the scale as often. My body has hit a plateau. I’m changing it up, hitting the gym, weights, machines, different foods...etc. I was 291 now I’m 200. Lost 91 pounds in 1 yr and not stopping!
Weight only shifts around the same 3-4 pounds but I've lost a Jean size and a half just by walking an hour a day. The scale is evil and counterproductive for me.
Reshme Farah it’s not a bad thing, until you get obsessed with weighing yourself, then it can actually mess with your brain and mental health and you can become addicted. It makes you think you are heavier than you are or that you are bigger than you are.
Watching extreme weight loss over and over motivated me and I. Now training 6 days a week and I’ve had tremendous results💕 thank you guys for doing what you do.
This is so so important! I was just talking about this with a co-worker recently. This is exactly what I was telling her from what I learned during my transformation. You don't need to weigh yourself everyday! Once a week, same time and measure yourself also. I found the scale would be only half a pound, to no different or even up but I'd lost 1-2 inches which showed I was making progress. The NSV are the most important part of any journey!
It took me a long time to figure out that I have to place my scale in the exact same place and on the exact same tiles every time. Just a tile or two over can be several pounds different!
This made me feel better because I thought I gained like 4 pounds in 2 weeks and started thinking that I weighed a lot but I was wearing a sweater on while weighing
Even when I’m not losing weight (plateau) I feel and sometimes see my body changing. I’ve been 142 this whole month and I’m not able to break it lol. My body might just want a breather, I’ve been on a weight loss journey for almost a year and have lost 63 pounds. Trying to be happy with my progress instead of upset that I still have 12 more to go.
The part where you mentioned about the water retention really helped me! I would always weigh myself right after I showered and I got really discouraged because the number was high but it was probably my skin holding in all that water! Thanks for the tips!
Just come across your channel and had to subscribe after watching this! I so needed to here this, I’m recovering from an eating disorder and working towards a healthy body and life and have scales relationship that is not helping...so thank you this really makes sense 😊
I saw this video to answer my anxiety right now.. I last weighted myself at 62 and now I'm at 65 but many says I loose so much, looked fit and I see my collarbones now and my clothes are loose also.... THIS ANSWERS MY QUESTION
Thank you for this. My weight was a bit up and down because I was using many different scales and was never consistent about the time of day. It nearly sent me into a panic attack (even though I was fitting into clothes better).
my scale is for sure broken. I usually weigh 60kg. but a few days ago when i weighed myself is said 48 kg and that’s not accurate at all. and now when i weighed myself i weigh 56kg. it’s really frustrating not knowing my weight
... *AND this is another reason* , why Heidi Powell is way better than , Jillian Michaels I like to take a 10lb - 20 lb weight, and see if the scale is accurate. LOL Lots of great tips about scales...thanks again Heidi !! 😀 👍👍👍
I have an eat smart scale and that is the first scale I have ever had that matches what I weigh in at the doctor's office. I used to have scales that showed a 5-10 pound difference from the doctor's scale but this one is always accurate.
I wish you would have put the scale in the same place and measured to see the difference. Floor level plays a HUGE, and as a viewer I can’t tell how much was contributed to one
I think I need a better quality scale mine read twelve and a half stone five days ago, three days later it read twelve stone today two days later it reads twelve and a quarter, I always put my scale in the same place every time, it seems to up and down to be accurate.
Heidi, do a video on rebounding. Rebounding is the one exercise I can stick to, because I'm a stay at home mom, home-school and babysit Littles, it is hard to get out the door. I generally do a very active health bounce for about 50 min. 5 days a week. Muscles popping out in my arms, abs and legs with this alone! I am curious about how many calories that would burn. My body is historically sluggish. I gain slowly, but rarely lose. I am now up 100 lbs overweight. Would love advice. I began rebounding in Feb. and dropped some pounds but they keep dancing back and forth. Trying to get the right combo for my body. (btw, I am hypo-thyroid). Thanks for the above video. Very well said.
So glad I seen this! I can easily let the number on the scale get into my head. It actually did this morning and I meal prep eat very healthy and also very committed to exercising. I had a baby 6 months ago and I'm way to hard on myself not being at my pre pregnancy weight. Love your channel! Just subscribed!
i really don’t know if i actually lost 30 pounds people say i look skinnier and i don’t eat much anymore and i do a slight bit of exercise but i have this fear that the scales are all broken and i actually way a lot more than the scales say like is it possible for a scale to be like 30 pounds off or am i just dumb
This was a great video, very informative. I went on the scale yesterday and I was 67. Literally don't know how this is possible because I was 76 like 2 days ago. The scale has been in the exact same spot both times I have weighed myself. It makes me so confused.
I go on the scale first thing in the AM after I empty. A few times after I weigh myself I will go back to bed without drinking or eating. Get back to use the bathroom hope on the scale and somehow the weight went up! So definitely how my clothes fit is the most important to me
I need help! I am 58. Although I can pass for 45....all well and good. I am petite but muscular... I love to lift! Lately.... I have had strong cravings for.... Cake cookies and brownie. I never over ate or had cravings! I was always a size....8 to 10. Now I think about food a lot and I am scared!.Please advise!?!
It could be that you are not eating enough! Try eating 5 small meals per day every 2 and a half to 3 hours to make sure you are getting enough nutrients
Thank you for this💖 I try not to let it get to me because I was 133lb and I was sure I lost a few pounds because my clothes dont really fit me anymore but when I stepped on the scale the next week it said I was up to 138lb I thought something wrong with me 😭
NOTHING is wrong with you at all! That means your body composition IS changing! Make sure to take progress pictures so that you can see the changes there too!
Girl I am the SAME weight as you! I was 133 (down from 160). I stopped weighing myself every day because it was so bad, stepped on the scale for the first time in weeks and I’m 139. My smaller sized clothes all still fit the same, but I can’t tell if I’m “getting chubby” again or if I’m building muscle.
I’m scared of my scale....such a mental trigger for me. I use my clothing and how I look in them to push me along my journey. Once a week would be enough for me!
Valerie G S I struggled with the scale for many years! I switched to clothing! I have certain clothes that I call my “weight gauging clothes”. Especially if you are into working out, this is what works! Muscle weighs 3 X more than fat, hence the mental trigger. Stay strong! 🦾🦾🦾
I weigh myself every Friday morning before liquids/food and after using the washroom. Same clothes, around the same time on the same floor with the same scale. When I started telling my doctor about losing weight she weighed me and it was much different then my home scale. That and I had just had lunch lol. I honestly didn’t listen to it because I rely on my scale for my weight loss.
You look so amazing....I am watching this at 2am, following a day of self sabotage. I am 53 years old and over 100lbs overweight and signed up for another fitness challenge that I so want to win but i am fighting against a lifetime and bad habits and living on auto pilot. I dont know if you will actually see this and yet I needed to reach out. How can I lose a whole person to become someone I don't know?
Hello frm India Mumbai... Best video for me... Thanks for making this video... U and u r husband r huge inspiration for me... God bless #extremeweight loss inspires me till date.. Good luck..
Sometimes I notice the scale doesn't move, like even a decimal point, for 3-5 days, with carb cycling (following Fit plan). What causes this? I've noticed it in the past and struggle to get through without giving up and binging.
I know that can be so frustrating but I would weigh in only ONCE per week. Your weight can dramatically fluctuate even from morning to night on the same day, but also day to day depending on whether you are low carb, high carb, or reset that day. So I would weight in ONLY on the morning of your reset day for consistency!
I used to see this too and find it insane. I found out that scales are designed to not change if there's only a small change in weight because they need to seem reliable. Try holding a jug of water to 'reset' the scale memory. Then jump back on without the jug and you'll be able to see the small changes.
When I needed to lose weight I bought a bathroom scale and during the first eight days my readings were confusing, too many ups and downs of 2 to 3 kilos. Then I realized that the scale reads differently when the ambient temperature changes abruptly between the drawer in which I place my scale and the floor. So I learned to rest the scale a minute or two before stepping on it. In addition, I take three or four consecutive readings and take the average. Just to be safe. By the way. I weigh myself without clothes on.
And same floor position. Flooring can change the reading of the scale.
Absolutely!
I have some vinyl and some wood floor and just moving my scale around my house was a 16 pound difference!!
Mine is going completely bonkers when the floor isn't 10000% even
Omg yes my wife moved our scale from the upstairs bathroom to the downstairs and it changed by a good 10 15lbs x.x in the direction i didnt want it to go to
Eggzaktly. I moved my scale to different places with major differences in scale weight.
I like to weigh myself before and after I take a dump.
It’s about 0.5 to 1 Pound
Joanne Wong depends on when you last went; sometimes you can lose 2-3lbs just by taking a dump.
I've managed to do 2 pounds once. I'll never forget this special moment
Thejrb11 can someone explain me what “a dump” is? Sorry English isn’t my first language😅
@@tessayasmine3673 it's when you go biggie on the toilet

I needed this. Its wayyy too easy to get fixated on what the scale says.
Amen!! So glad it helped!
It's so hard for me to not freak out when the number on the scale goes up!
Awesome job! Should still proud of yourself love!
That's incredible! You are an inspiration!
Ty Heidi!!! FYI I broke my plateau!!!! I’m finally in the 100’s!!! 198ish !!!
I got two scales once. They had a difference of three kilos. I get scales aren’t perfect but the difference shouldn’t be three kilos.
It really is insane how inaccurate they can be!
I weigh myself every morning naked
That works!
Imma start doing that too
Sam Bailie same
That the only way I weigh my self. It's a more true weight.
Post dump
Weight only shifts around the same 3-4 pounds but I've lost a Jean size and a half just by walking an hour a day. The scale is evil and counterproductive for me.
That's amazing, congratulations! There are so many other factors that determine success :)

You are absolutely right!
I'm sorry LOL!! Bless your heart ❤️
Very interesting video but....... I can't take my eyes off your bathroom. It's simply delicious.
That is so sweet! Thank you!
It is definitely a bathroom to be jealous of.
This made me feel better because I thought I gained like 4 pounds in 2 weeks and started thinking that I weighed a lot but I was wearing a sweater on while weighing

That could very well be! Congratulations on your success so far!
That's why I take my measurements once a month. (plus weight, but it's less important to me). Measurements don't lie.
Im struggling with my weights all my life. U r right the number on scale affects me mentally...
I'm so sorry that you have had to go through that! Hopefully some of these tips help!
Thank you So much!! I've been working hard and the scale flactuates like crazy everyday.
The part where you mentioned about the water retention really helped me! I would always weigh myself right after I showered and I got really discouraged because the number was high but it was probably my skin holding in all that water! Thanks for the tips!
Good points! I hate being so attached to the scale. Working on it...:)
It can take some time but you'll get there!
Thxs great video. I use my clothing size went from a 22 Jean's and yesterday had to buy a size 10 and the fit was perfect in 7 month.
That's incredible!! Great job!!
This couldn’t have come at a better time. You are the best.
That makes me so happy! I'm glad it helped!
Just come across your channel and had to subscribe after watching this! I so needed to here this, I’m recovering from an eating disorder and working towards a healthy body and life and have scales relationship that is not helping...so thank you this really makes sense 😊
Awww thank you! Yessss! I'm so glad to hear that!
My scale lies to me daily , I’ve come to respect it cause I lie right back , 🥰
Haha! That's the perfect mindset!
Definitely trust those non-scale victories! And yes, consistency is key :)
I always weight a 10lb weigh to make sure it's accurate.. My scale is off by like. 4 ounces.. Not bad
i do the same and its still inaccurate.
Thank you for this video! These are really great tips!
Trust your tape measure not your scale. That was the best advice I received.
I'm starting to follow your channel. Thank you for your content! I love how authentic you are and the message you put out there is really amazing.
pause.. your hair is amazing !!!
Oh thank you!
Thanks for this information
Thank you soooooo much for this video! I needed it! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
my scale is for sure broken. I usually weigh 60kg. but a few days ago when i weighed myself is said 48 kg and that’s not accurate at all. and now when i weighed myself i weigh 56kg. it’s really frustrating not knowing my weight

I'm so glad it was helpful!
Thank you for sharing the video. I didn't know all of them not the same.👍👍👍👍👍
When she stepped on all the scales it made me feel so much better about this morning's weigh in.lol thanks 😊
Yes please more demos!!! Love rhis
Love it! Thanks for the clip and helpful content.
Thanks so much
I literally got an ad and the guy in it said: Stop! Do not excersize! 😂
... *AND this is another reason* , why Heidi Powell is way better than , Jillian Michaels

I need this. The scale doesn't seem to budge though I can see the difference in my body.
Honestly that is why i hate digital scales because scaling will depend ob the battery life if the batteries are a bit used it won't be exact soo...
I weigh on the same scale on the same floor around the same time in the same outfit. Which is in my undies.
Perfect!
I wish you would have put the scale in the same place and measured to see the difference. Floor level plays a HUGE, and as a viewer I can’t tell how much was contributed to one
I find with these bathroom scales they seem to have set points. It will say 188.2 for 2 weeks then goes right down to 184.8.
Many thanks I used to wait myself different scales but now I am using only one scale
I have the first scale... The highest... I’m wondering now if I should get another
I weigh myself in the morning after I've empty my bowels and bladder twice.
Great idea!
So buy the one that weighed her the least?
I loved this !!!!
My scale hasn't moved in 3 weeks since I started weight training again, trying to lose 10lbs. But I've lost almost 2inches off my waist!
That's amazing! That is huge progress!
I can't stop weighing myself - I'm doing it up to 3-4 times a day at the moment :(
Oh no!! That can be so tough, I would start by trying to limit yourself to just one time per day!
Thank you Heidi - I will try!
Same🙁 then i let it affect my whole day and diet.
Same :(
And of course I have the Taylor scale 🤦🏼♀️ lol
Haha!!
😂
Me too! Lol so that’s my problem!!
Thanks !!! I kind of hate the scale. it made me always feel crappy...
Taylor scales have been my nemesis. They usually say I’m lower.
So helpful! I don't weigh in but once a month, if that.
So cool thank you Heidi love ya loved all the tips 👍💕💕
I'm so glad to hear that, thank you!!
I think I need a better quality scale mine read twelve and a half stone five days ago, three days later it read twelve stone today two days later it reads twelve and a quarter, I always put my scale in the same place every time, it seems to up and down to be accurate.

Just weigh in naked after a shower in the morning. Consistent, accurate, easy to remember.
Yes
Dang. I need that skinny scale 🤣
Haha!!!
This was so helpful, thank you! 👍❤
I'm so glad to hear that! You are so welcome!

That tip about wearingbthe same thing when you weigh in, makes so much sense i agree
Absolutely!
I go on the scale first thing in the AM after I empty. A few times after I weigh myself I will go back to bed without drinking or eating. Get back to use the bathroom hope on the scale and somehow the weight went up! So definitely how my clothes fit is the most important to me
How do you figure sweat pants are lighter? Obviously it's heavier....
Thank you I really needed this :)
Try eating 5 small meals per day every 2 and a half to 3 hours to make sure you are getting enough nutrients
how do you know what scales to trust
What is the best scale in your opinion. I hate our scale it’s a weight watchers one
Thank you for this cause my Medline scale be trippin & making me trip.😁
Do we really need these things? I can see from the mirror if I am getting bigger or lesser without a scale.
I use two kettle bells on each side and they weigh even 20lbs so why not do that
Thank you for this💖 I try not to let it get to me because I was 133lb and I was sure I lost a few pounds because my clothes dont really fit me anymore but when I stepped on the scale the next week it said I was up to 138lb I thought something wrong with me 😭
NOTHING is wrong with you at all! That means your body composition IS changing! Make sure to take progress pictures so that you can see the changes there too!

Kerry Rush it’s crazy isn’t 😂
This is a great video. Thanks!
I'm so glad you like it, thank you!

I’m so annoyed with my scale since it’s like the ticks of the weight and doesn’t give you any exacts
I needed to hear this today, thank you!!💕
I'm so glad to hear that, you are so welcome!
What do you do if you weigh in after morning bowel movement normally but body decides not to have one then??? Ugh

I wish I could use the bathroom without drinking a liter of water, even more
So true, I drive myself crazy. I have a Taylor scale I am always ready To throw it out the window
You look so amazing....I am watching this at 2am, following a day of self sabotage. I dont know if you will actually see this and yet I needed to reach out. How can I lose a whole person to become someone I don't know?
When is it a right time to weighing? In the morning when you wake up or at night before bed ?
There’s always a 7-17lb discrepancy with most scales for me.

It always piss me off when I go my gp weigh myself and see about 8 lbs difference than my weight taken at home…
