lol, im kind of obsessed with the cabin by the lake lyric, its one of my favourite this year. i didnt realise eyjaa couldnt marry him cos he ran away 😂
"He ran away ay ay ay, I wanted to be with him." 😂 If you imagine sisters wanting to marry the same man, chasing him while he's running away, song gets better. 🤠
Today I´m gonna be "EXPLORING" the songs from DORA. Good one. 😅 EDIT: Our selection is one heck of an acid trip, but I do have some hopes for Harmonija Disonance. Incompetent as our broadcaster is, putting that song last in the running order clearly indicates that they want it to win. So that´s something at least. 🤷♂
@@ESCTom I have no clue at this point. 🤷♂ Not that the quality over quantity matters if almost everything is still shite. Macedonia last year had 6 songs and we know what that was like.
Blonde Lesbian Lei Lei! Dora 23 in a nutshell. I feel like we all just trauma bonded going through these entries. Lei Lei I think is the best entry. And, in a year where the international community gets to vote, ethnobop is the best way to go.
Here are some pointers for Serbian, Bosnian, Montenegrin and Croatian pronunciation, it’s quite simple I promise: Ć (often at the end of last names) - CH as in cherry or Charlie Č - a harder CH sound, but without getting into phonetics, you can just pronounce it as ch (like in cherry or Charlie) Đ - pronounced like J in Jack or June Đž - like the last syllable of grunge or fringe Š - SH as in shy or sharp Lj - a mix of L and Y, like in the British pronunciation of million Nj - a mix of N and Y, like in the British pronunciation of onion Ž - like the S in pleasure/ treasure/ measure And a few more pointers: J is always pronounced like Y in yellow or you. A lot of foreigners mispronounce it as G in George. K is always pronounced as K in Kevin and C is always pronounced as the TS in cats. I completely get that our language may look intimidating when you see all the odd names and words, but it’s actually VERY simple in terms of spelling and pronunciation, a lot easier than say English or French because it’s phonetically consistent. 1 letter is always 1 sound and every letter is always pronounced the same regardless or how a word is written.
Hah that’s awesome, thanks for that. I’ll try and use some of it when I do my Serbia video. Yea English is an absolute nightmare for rules and pronunciation- there’s even a lot of Tik tok channels where the entire thing is making fun of how inconsistent it is
Dear, oh dear!! I don't know what to say.....17 songs that I'll never wish to hear again.....well 16 anyway. That chanty song at the end i could sit through. Just have a feeling that it promised more and didn't quite achieve its goals. BUT, i did find a rare gem amongst Dora this year. More in error i think. I was getting ready to skip after approx a minute but stuck with a song and got pleasantly suprised. That song's name, i hear you ask Tom?....."Lost and Found" by The Splitters. Yes, i know you weren't impressed by your first listen but give it a go in isolation and not have it drowned out by over an hour of dross. So reminds me of The Black Mamba Portugal 2021. I like that vibe. A simple song, sang well can still stand out amongst a "televote seeking, uptempo fest". It would all be about staging. Portugal, in the last couple of years, elevated slow tempo songs with simple but creative ideas. Can Croatia do that. Mmmmmmm, yes, why not! Watch Croatia go for something out of left field blandness! Oh well, it is their choice I suppose 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
yea well this is why having 18 songs is so stupid, because it's so much harder to appreciate each song when youre just getting mentally exhausted. Im pretty sure i would have exploded if Id heard that lounge song (the 2nd in running order) towards the end. instead i ended up remembering it cos it stood out at the start. These broadcasters need to EDIT more. I might go back and check out The Splitters song again, but right now i need to recover from that onslaught 😭
Literally my favourite of the pack is 'Nevera (Lei Lei)'. If you listen to the chorus, the 'Oj ej neretvo zaboravi more' bit is so reminiscent of 'Rasputin' by Boney M! 'Ra ra Rasputin, lover of the Russian queen'. That's all I'm hearing! Lol. My favourite by far due to the instrumentation and the pace of the song. Also it falls in to that bracket of modern folk songs that I've really been enjoying from the last few years of Eurovision, for example 'Fulenn', 'Shum', 'Fire Of Love' etc etc. Damir Kedzo is my second placer, but he's quite far off the mark with this one because I know he's better than this. He'll sing the crap out of it, but its that "Go on gurl, give us nothing!" moment that was meme'd to hell. It just goes nowhere. His pedigree in singing and his beautiful vocal range deserves better than a song that could've been a qualifier in 2010. 3rd place is Boris Štock. Pleasant. The rest for me just fade in to nothing. Just a massive melting pot of Meh.
The stars on Eurovisionworld are made of people clicking the stars (1 to 5) underneath the title and artist on the individual songs page - which then gives an average as the votes mount up. So you could vote as you review, but on second thoughts, everyone's star ratings will plummet!
Apsolute Mastersong!!! Top performance with pawurfol message!!! melodiie is fantastisch, scenografie en ewriting is genius!!!!! THANKS CROATIE!!!! 12000000000 points vrom Holland!!!
I like lots of songs because it gelps add things to playlist, and if they will shorten selection themselves there is no guarantee , that they won't choose worst ones
I think there are 4 decent songs... that are probably not competitive. I can see why some people might like "Angels and Demons" and "Nevera." I think "Grijeh" and "Dom" are well written but need better production: (contest aside) I'm enjoying those two on my playlist.
This is a little embarrassing, but my husband and I watch every single of your videos, but we still cannot understand what’s the thing you say before every song 😅 something secret..
oh lol its not embarassing cos i say it very quickly. it's "wanna know my secret, bang" - its a lyric from a Eurovision song. I just say it so that when im editing, i know where to start the music video. if i forget to do it, its a total nightmare syncing my reaction to the music 😂 i love that you watch the videos together, thats so cute 🥰
Ohh! Thanks so much for the reply! ❤️ Haha, it’s our fav time of the day! He always runs out of his office screaming “TOM HAS A NEW VIDEO! PLAY IT ON THE TV”! Thank you for all your work!
This is not great I feel Nevera is only one with some kind of potential.Croatia is in a very strong first semi and their record of qualifying is poor.Wish them all the best but I can't see them qualifying.
This national final is a hot mess. I blame the broadcaster and you would NEVER guess this based on their Eurovision history, but Croatia has a beautiful music scene. They just never send good music to Eurovision. Also, to answer some of your questions: Bye Bye Blonde is about the singer. She used to be blonde and then a guy cheated on her and now she dyed her hair and the sweet girl she used to be is gone. It’s kind of my guilty pleasure. The instrumental is so Italo-disco from the 90s and the lyrics are soooooo dated (in the dark of the night, in love with a perfect stranger, she’s a gamechanger) I can’t help but laugh. But it’s still my #2, behind Nevera. Let 3’s song ŠČ is an humorous/ cheeky anti-Russia song. They sing about Putin, calling him a short psychopath (he’s quite short in real life). ŠČ is a letter in Russian and the reference to the tractor (mama kupila traktora) is a reference to Lukashenko, the Belarus president buying Putin a tractor as a gift. I find the song quite irritating, but it has that X factor and has the potential to win the televote in Dora.
Ahhhhhhh thank you for explaining the šč song, I didn’t pick up on any of that. I like the idea of a humorous song mocking him. I wonder how they would make it translate if they got a huge televote and ended up winning
I am also upset by the cabin by the lake, the same way I was by "I was gonna marry him. BUT HE RAN AWAY." Please.
