  • How to correctly install a floor stop for a door (stopper or limiter) with your own hands, on a floor with parquet or tiles. #door_stop # how to_install_door_limiter # correct_installation #door_stop #door_stop #DIY #CleverBill
Everyone knows that parquet boards are a "floating" coating that cannot be rigidly fixed to the floor (base); this type of coating also dictates a special way of installing the door stop.
If you fix the door retainer on the parquet itself, and as a rule, this is an extreme board near the wall, and provided that it still should not rest against the wall and have a gap from the wall (for expansion), then soon, with frequent blows of the door on the door stop, you can get a gap between the parquet boards. And when dirt (dust, sand) gets into the gap, you will not be able to remove the gap just like that.
Unpleasant things can happen with ceramic tiles and glue parquet. A door stop with a hole at the edge of the tile can split the latter, and block parquet can move away from the base.
Therefore, when fixing the door stop on such coatings, the most correct thing would be to install it on a pin fixed in a concrete base, and make the hole in the floor covering wider than the stud itself.
Then, when the door hits the door stop, the hairpin will only take a blow on itself, since it does not come into contact with the coating itself, and the stop screwed onto the hairpin will not have a strong effect on the floor covering.

A door stop, a seemingly simple thing, but after looking at other installation tips, I decided to give my own. With floating or adhesive-based coverings, the door stop cannot be fixed to the floor covering.
And the stop, fixed on a pin in concrete, will be able to protect the floor covering from unnecessary impact force. For those who do not have concrete under the coating, of course, it is more difficult, but you can still try to fix the pin in the base.

Hey. Well, if you need to paint something, then it is better to first drill all the holes, then paint and only then install the door stop.

The real question is do you need door stop if the door opens 120degree and would look stupid for door that opens 180degree and have a door stops. Is there a rule from what degree door stop is no longer needed?

The door stop serves as a limiter so that the door does not hit furniture, walls, etc....

Should be called StupidBill. Laminate expands/moves so you wouldn't drill through it and screw into a concrete floor etc.

Poor fellow, there is a saying for you.I look in the book and can not understand a word. That's for whom I said that this is why, in the laminate, a wider hole is drilled for the screw going into the concrete (just so that the laminate can move :))))
