It's pretty amazing to think that this man retired in 1911 as General of the infantry, to then return to the military in 1914 to lead Germany during the war as General Field Marshall, and then become president and respecting a german republic despite being a Monarchist
Unfortunately for the weimar republic. Hindenburg was not only a die hard monarchist, but also too easily manipulated because of
his age (some sources say he was senile at the time) and social background (a prussian junker, career officer and landowner) by the camarilla of Schleicher, Papen
his son Oscar von Hindenburg and others. when he was reelected in april 1932 (with the support of the social democarts, catholics and liberlas) ,defeating hitler, insted of using his victory to save the republic Hindenburg, ungreatfull to his voters, took a strong turn to the right, dissmised the moderate chancellor Brunning ( in part because of his agrarian proposed reform which didnt suit aristocartic landwoners) and appointed von Papen which started the tragic way to evantually hitler coming to power
@theubergamer67 the extremist won't be happy lol
@@1973modi or, maybe, he knew what he was doing.
@@1973modi Right wing is good.
Hindenburg empowered Hitler and defended the Enabling Act of 1933.
He explicitly said that the SPD who were mere liberals had "Stabbed Germany in the back" therefore justifying their persecution and murder.
..I love how Hindenburg always acknowledges the colours, or standards that are drawn up. He of all people would know of the sacrifices that were made in the name of the Fatherland.
Now this is what i call birthday party
When he's marching down the street with the national anthem, he is Germany, that's such an epic moment I think. He never thought so many decades later we, as the youtube community, would be watch and saying " Damn that's badass".
Pau von Hindenburg - a great German!!!
Some birthday party he had, i only icecream, cake, presents, family and friends. Hes was a blow out party with thousands of people and a marching band well after all he was the leader of Germany.
Als Deutschland noch deutsch war!
They forgot to tell him no one wears a pickelhaube anymore

Do you ever wonder if they ever think
All of this just for me?
All you shouldn't have
The Romans would have an aide whispering in the celebrity's ear, 'remember you're still only just one of the regular guys' while riding through the triumph parade past the cheering crowds.
Gotta love the Defilermarsch
Hindenburg & Ludendorff took over as commanders in chief to prosecute the war - they refused to negotiate a peace agreement by 1917, insisting the war would continue. By then German civilians were starving, as these two knew but it didn’t matter as much as winning the war.
Hindenburg was a monarchist and hated the outcome of the latest elections giving the Nazi party more seats. He hated “the little corporal” and, while he was pressured to choose Hitler, he was sure the Army would not work with Hitler.
Hindenburg and Ludendorffs were in charge of commanding the armed Forces. They had absolutely Nothing to decide About war or Peace. According to the constitution of the Kaiserreich, the Reichskanzler and the Kaiser were in charge of making Peace or War. The Kaiser wanted to stop this war since 1916 but it was England and France who refused to negotiate and both countries demanded the unconditional surrender of Germany so there never was a time when Hindenburg and Ludendorff could decide About war or Peace.
Why is it always women talking clueless dumb shit?

EINE GANZ GROßE PERSÖNLICHKEIT
Poor Hindenburg, he could not save his country and stop Hitler. He wanted to stop him so badly.
Moustache man bad. Moustache man very bad, indeed.
Alas, he was too old. He was incredibly courageous though to take him on even at 84 years old. If only Germany had been able to economically recover from the Depression while he was alive, perhaps the Nazis would have started to lose favor with the public. We can only speculate though.
I Only can imagine tacos guacamole and tequila wow nice birthday!
What is the march? 1:15.

“I personally think every politician should strive to be like Paul von Beneckendorff und von Hindenburg. You have every right to be confused. Let me explain: Paul von Hindenburg was a politician, but not for his own personal fame or selfish reasons like most today, but he was a politician because he knew he was just doing the right thing for Germany his beloved country he served honorably in the past. With this in mind, he was an unintentionally self-less politician as he was working towards a goal larger than himself, that goal was restoring the monarchy back in power, and to return it to Germany once again. This strong higher calling made Paul von Hindenburg self-less when he needed it most.” -Luke Friesenhahn
At 1:11 the Defiliermarsch begins.
