a man finds a painting of his dream girl and buys it but when he touches it his dream girl comes alive and they are perfect together until they see that her home\painting is dying and she has to go back, so the man says his final goodbyes as she goes back home and everything comes alive will color and life as she goes back to being a motionless picture. But before she's goes still again she ways him one final wave as she returns to her still state of a painting. To be honest its buitifull if you look at it right

It's insane to me that this was considered a "dud" back when it first released because this song meant so much to me in middle school and it still means a lot to me now. This song hit me in the heart when I was hardcore questioning my sexuality and had no idea what I was when I was so desperate to put a label on myself and find a place where I fit. "I felt it in my heart/ if there's even one to feel" was exactly the way I was feeling back then. So to learn that one of my favorite songs ever was considered a failure? The song that put my weird middle school feelings into words? The song that has a million views right now? The song that I've always loved so dearly? A dud? A failure??? It was fucking insane to me when I first watched that talk!!
I guess what I'm trying to convey is that even the stuff you're not proud of can be beloved by someone. I want to keep that in the back of my mind when I make stuff.

this song is so strangely nostalgic. I have no idea where I must have heard it before, but it was definitely stored as a happy memory.
It's been years since I've watched this video. I used to watch it a lot because I loved the song, but nothing about the video or song ever struck an emotional chord with me. I came back to this video after watching Jack's most recent upload and something must have changed in me since the first time I saw this video, because the instant her hand touched the painting and she started to get pulled back in it brought me to tears.
This isn't a song about letting someone go because you love them, it's about letting someone go because the place they belong is more important than either of your happiness.

all my friends said stop trying to remember what this song is and get over it but it being such a good song it kept playing silently in the back of my head like it wanted to be remembered after a litteral 15 hours of nonstop humming singing wistleing and thinking of the beat the lyrics slowly came back to me those lyrics were "i knew it all along" and also mtv is a sellout... what happend to them playing music and not just mainstream music...

Fun fact: Jack Conte and Thessaly Lerner were voice actors for The Sims 2 teens.
I used to talk to msg them on MySpace and was really surprised that they would actually respond. I am still a TS2 fan to this day, and it still feels like I had talked to royalty lol. I was so star struck back then but even now. They basically just conversed with me because that's what public figures do 😭😭, plus they were both musicians and that's pretty much part of your job - talking with the public - but it was still special to me.

The way his lip curls up into a happy smirk at the end as she waves at him from within the painting honestly got me emotional. It seems like hes just happy that shes where she wants and needs to be. That he'll never forget the times they had and that this is for the better.
Maybe that is just my interpretation though.
