Again, I have a high respect for your Channel. (Not as a put down to everyone else out there) however, a person see's a lot of videos about range reviews, you show, in order to review the pistol you have to put distance between you and the target to get a respectable evaluation. and you are doing that with black powder pistols that are from a design in the 1850's. and doing it without a ransom machine rest. It goes to show the quality of what you are watching. I'm looking forward to more video content in the days to come. Keep up the great work. Peace dude - Dave

Wow, great video. I love the walker. Looks like you have that baby dialed in now ! I enjoy your videos very much, and you have the best channel on yt for black powder shootin n stuff. I also enjoy the funny comments you make, and all the comedy mixed into the videos. Keep those videos coming. Peace, and best wishes to you sir. Happy shooting.. We love the Old Ranger ! 😊❤

Thanks so much for the encouragement. After 4 days of shooting them and the 2nd model dragoon, I went back to the 51’s and 60. They felt really small and light, more like toys. Sort of like going from standard models to the pockets. The workmanship is outstanding considering price for these guns; a real “bang for the buck “ and great fun to shoot. Keep safe. O.R.

Those groups are fantastic! And I really like the front sight tweek, I find they are mortised into the barrel, (my 1873 sight jumped out last week), so it is a lot of work to get the old one out and get the new sight blade inserted and lined up at the same time, it would be interesting to see where it shoots at 100 Yds. I tried it at 50, and it was about 8 inches low. I doubt it would make it to the 100 yd mark. The only Walker now that I can test at 100 with orig sights is the 2nd Gen. Good reason to invest in another. I don't have a Cimarron (yet). O.R.

Great video series on the Colt Walker! My favorite percussion revolver. I get great accuracy with a Hornady .457" round ball and 50 grains of Pyrodex P.
Rather than raising my front sight, i filed out the rear sight to provide a better recess to lower my front sight into. This obviously lowers the bullet impact. I aim 6 o'clock at 25 to 35 yards to hit center mass. The front sight is lowered halfway down into the modified rear sight.
I use my Walker to deer hunt. It is very accurate and plenty powerful.

Great guns. Fortunate to have them being reproduced, and with quality components and craftsmanship and affordable. O.R.

@oldranger3044 Yes, we are very fortunate indeed. I admire your channel and content very much. I do a lot of the same testing and tinkering with my own percussion revolvers. A lot of my emphasis is hunting and carrying them in the field, including snakeshot loads. I've also been working with numerous Howell conversion cylinders in .45 Colt.
I'm always amazed at the capability of these historical handguns.

Awesome, anxious to get mine to the range. I have about half a dozen BP revolvers.

Gotta love the passion you put into this great hobby, now if percussion caps start showing up in stores again I’m gonna have to do more testing on my colts as well, I do have the cap maker kit and have had success with it but I’m also lazy and don’t wanna make them all the time lol, thanks for sharing your wisdom and btw what a great piece, Uberti does make some fine replicas, I own a few myself, thanks for sharing 👍🇺🇸

I was into RC about 30 years ago. Built a few. Great hobby. I have a bad case of dumb thumbs. Most of mine crashed shortly after they became airborne. I think I was trying Duraplane or something like that. Will have to check out your channel. Thanks. O.R.

I did the crash and burn thing in the beginning but quickly realized I needed a RC flight simulator, that’s when it got real! Once I learned how to fly and set up planes with correct CG and radio programming the rest is history, tons of fun and met lots of great folks into the hobby from around the world.

@@DeucesWildRC It was so addictive for me that I was rapidly bankrupting myself buying K&B engines which were at that time the least expensive. It was fun. O.R.

I don't understand why Uberti doesn't put a higher front sight on these from the factory. That being said, I think I will try this on my Walkers. How thick was that brass stock you used? Looks like about 1/16 inch or so. Thanks

I've wondered the same thing. No need for it to shoot a foot high.

Brass was .060 I will be posting part IV(a) where I used a nickel, that did a better job I felt, especially matching the original that is not brass (at least to my knowledge) O.R.

You must have the last stash of Black MZ. Alliant stopped making it. At about 10 dollars a pound it was good stuff:) (I have a small stash)

I'd say enough, unless someone likes 45/120's and that's what I paid.
Someone commented in one of my videos that it's being made again and I checked and it was available. That's the good news. The bad news is I forgot what its being called, and the price was not ten dollars anymore.

For the life of me, I cannot understand why they don’t give you a taller site to allow you to file it down to the desired point of aim??

    • @oldranger3044
      @oldranger3044  4 місяці тому

Lots of folks might not own one, (file), not surprising since I don't think we make them anymore. But it's more likely folks would start complaining that they don't look original. O.R.

Boy you must be REAL OLD - using hand tools rather than rechargeable power tools - And how come he only gave us five fingers when Sam gave us six chambers? Good shooting but.
