It's a decent pistol in my opinion, there are some people who don't like the stiff trigger pull, but it is hammer fire verses a striker fire. I will say the Gen 3 model is much better all around then the Gen 2.
Got my CPX2 from a friend. Being used to shooting DA revolvers, I acclimated to the trigger quite easily. It's a great shooter and eats anything I run through it. It's in my EDC rotation.
I'm new to concealed carry. It's a whole different world than the rigamarole that goes into bringing out my AR-15. The CPX-1 Gen 3 is my first EDC. (Grandma's cute vest pocket .25 ACP doesn't count.) I'll tell you what, I like this thing. It's the right size, $200 out the door, and very fun to shoot. So far I've only practiced at an indoor range at 7-9 yards. Same groupings as with my brother-in-law's Glock. Not a ton of recoil for a light, polymer frame. The safety and long, heavy pull is perfect for my situation with little ones. Undecided about keeping one chambered. You do have to learn how far back the hammer release is so you're not firing not all over the place. The iron sights are good. I'm considering an Olight undermount laser combo on the small pic rail, but that's half the price of the gun (there's a reason I bought a budget firearm), and it would take away positive-click holstering. I'm thinking it would mostly be for nighttime home defense. Outdoor use would just be point & shoot to stop a threat. I dunno. Anyway, very happy with this purchase.
The trigger is very different from what I think many would be used to, but practice and familiarity easily adjusts for the trigger. For the price it's a solid firearm in my opinion. I agree with you on holstering, I'd like to have a light on my ccw but I'm not giving up positive retention in my holster. Thanks for the comment!!!
It's because your new CC, once you learn, and grow in CC you'll want a 100%, always goes bang gun. My Glock will hit 100 yd. plates, Yours wont. My shield will hit 100 Yd. plates 299.00 Once you shoot a quality Tighter tolerance handgun, you'll feel, and see the difference, and you wont look back.
@@richardkrueger9097 Agree and disagree. I've put many rounds through it with no issues. My brother-in-law -- who has 70+ guns, been shooting since he could walk, consistently hits ~85% of the clays when skeet shooting, dropped a buck in full sprint at 250 yds with his 6.5 Creedmor, etc. -- has never been able to shoot accurately with his Glock. (Yeah, yeah, it's the shooter not the gun, he needs practice, sights need adjustment, barrel needs tuning, whatever. None of it true.) My buddy I go shooting with has a Glock-style 9mm that consistently jams due to feed-ramp issues. It's not a Glock, so this isn't a rant against another brand. I know Glock generally sets the standard for quality. What I'm saying is whatever SCCY did between Gens 2 & 3 addressed their own quality-control issues dramatically. I still love it for all the reasons I mentioned. I will say, though, being DAO with a 9-lb trigger does make the pull feel heavy after 50 rounds or so at the range. That makes practice less fun than a light/quick trigger. Maybe I have girly hands and just need to do some finger-muscle exercises, but I wouldn't trade off the safety aspect for anything with little ones in the house.
My first 9mm was a gen 1 and it was a challenge due to the long trigger and reset BUT IT TOOK EVERYTHING i SHOT THROUGH IT AND IT WAS A VERY RELIABLE FIREARM BUT GIFTED IT TO A FAMILY MEMBER DURING THE QUARINTINE . I tend to carry revolvers in 38 and 357 so the long and heavy trigger is not really an issue and have a Barretta Nano as my primary 9mm. . I recently got the gen 3 as the price was on point and again it did well at the range . The updated design is a plus and in all fairness the trigger is an improvement . Due to capacity and reliability this part of my rotation
I've read from many revolver carriers that the trigger isn't a big deal for them because of the double action. I had a previous gen myself that I handed down to a family member and agree that the gen 3 trigger has improved. And like you said, the price point is right. Thanks for watching!!
Good video thanks. People have been pissing and moaning about the trigger ever since these came out. Mostly people from the striker fired generation. It is a double action revolver trigger mated to a bottom feeder. If you want a great trigger, get a 1911, a squishy light trigger, get a Glock or one of the imitators, a safe with no external safety, get a 442 or a SCCY.
I've heard many criticisms of the trigger, but in my mind it's a matter of design. A heavy double action trigger for a compact side arm is desirable in various carry applications. I think what people also forget is that it goes back to training too. Thanks for the comment, and thanks for watching!
It's the first semi automatic I ever owned. I did do a lot of dry fire practice staging the trigger. ( Pull halfway, aim and fire). I'm really comfortable with it. It's a dependable gun. I think when sccy came out with a Stryker fired gun. People on utube really started badmouthing the guns.
Picked one up last month for 149.99 at PSA. Accurate and so far reliable. Trigger takes some getting use to. DAO so no need for a safety. Like that. Gonna keep pumping rounds through it. See how it holds up before I carry it. So far I'm really liking it.
Why would anyone carry this daily, when you can get a proven champ in the Shield+ for 299.00 Grab a gun. If you don't know yet, don't trust your life to it.
As of 4/2024 these are $229.00. Still a good deal. I bought a cpx-2yesterday. I already had a cpx-1 red dot. For some reason the new had a 6 lb. Trigger pull and my cpx-1 that I have had for three years had a 8 lb. Pull before I put a trigger kit in it. SCCY is an awesome company, I had failure to feed problems on my cpx-1 when it was new and it turned out to be the magazines. They sent me two more clips no charge.
I just picked one up today at Sportsmans Warehouse for $209, spur of the moment purchase while picking up an AR-15 I bought from their website. It will live in my bug-out bag.
I'm getting one tomorrow as I believe salesman said on the phone that the 2 he has have those optic sights. Another shop by me has one I looked at but he has it up for 350 dollars and thought that was lil much as a lot of reviews have them in 200s or lil less. Like the color on that one.
The optic sights kit by itself runs around $60, getting it with the firearm will save you having to order it. The $350 does sound a bit high, unless it's cut for a red dot optic, that may be what's driving the cost of that one up. For the price though, it's a solid firearm in my opinion. Thanks for watching the video!!
$179 @ buds gun shop. I was blown away by the smoothness of the chambering. It felt like butter going in and has been just as smooth 100* rds later. It’s got a thick trigger pull, but quick to get used to.
Picked up one today they now have a flat trigger in the cpx2 gen 3 went straight to range 50rounds of 115 grain fmj no issues 25 rounds of American gunner jhp no issues then 25 rounds of fucchio 115 grain jhp hyper preformace nothing but light pr
I bought a SCCY CPX-2 3rd gen last month and so far only put about 200 rounds into it for practice. There's definitely a learning curve, but once you surpass that, it's an awesome, reliable firearm thats predictable in a good way. As is, I prefer this 3rd gen CPX-2 over the Glock G43 I bought last year. Not perfect clearly but it is solid and there when you need it.
It does take some getting use to; I agree regarding the reliability and predictability you mentioned, and once use to it, most I've talked to are very satisfied with it.
Over your Glock? You sell SCCY? I have the 43x and wouldn't carry that girls gun.... next time buy pink.... too long of a draw, too short of a hand grip. and at 50 yds. it's a joke.....
I have the CPX 2 gen 2. Some of the reviews have not been favorable, but I've had no issues running over 300 rounds of Winchester 124 grain through mine. I never had a misfire or jam. I do find the long trigger pull and recoil a bit much for long distance accuracy at 50 feet, but I attribute this to its light weight. The heavy trigger pull gives me confidence it won't be accidentally misfired. I trust this gun enough to keep it in a biometric safe in my nightstand ready to go if needed.
There are some bad reviews of this firearm, I've had a couple of these now and know many who have one, no issues among us. Perhaps there were a few lemons, perhaps bias, for the price I think it's a solid firearm. Like any firearm though, it needs to be vetted before making it a defense weapon. Thanks for watching!!
I love my CPX-2 and have had it for over 5 years and 2,000+ rounds. I still carry it regularly. But it has not been without issue. Roll pins walking out, broken extractor, broken rail, broken recoil spring. But overall it's been a good experience. Good enough that I've ventured into DVG-1 land ....
It's a great firearm for the price, not many bells and whistles but for a basic edc it's solid. I know many people that used this as their first edc. The trigger will be the hardest thing to get down in my opinion, pulling back without coming off target. Practice will overcome that, every firearm always has something. Thanks for watching!!
Just got the same one. My slide lock/release button will not release no matter how hard I try. Maybe I’m just weak. But I have to manually pull back the slide to push it down. Anyone else have this issue ???
The pull is another safety BTW same idea as a revolver double action I know you mentioned that and they're really when you look at one they are super well made they look real good
I hated the grip on the CPX gen 1 and 2 i never bought one because of how uncomfortable the grip was but i recently picked up a CPX 2 gen 3 just to have as a back up gun and man for 165 it's a great gun can't go wrong with it i love the new grip and feel and surprisingly the recoil isn't bad at all
I agree with you on the old model grips. Probably the biggest drawback I saw in this firearm, glad they fixed that with this gen. Now, like you said, for the price you can't beat it. Thanks for the view!!
I've had two of them, I handed down my first to my son. One thing I'll say for sure, they always fire. Many complain about the trigger pull, but that's just a matter of practice and familiarity.
Bought one for 180 slightly used and I done ran 150 bullets on this little pistol yes the double action tigger takes some time to get use to but when you got it runs so smooth I have had no jams probably because I clean and oil the gun overall I think it’s a great council carry if you know how to handle it
For the price it's really hard to beat, and like you said about the double action, it takes some time to get the hang of it, but once you have it down it's not a bad little defense pistol.
lol, it's definitely not for everyone, some feel safer with the high trigger weight when throwing it in a backpack or something. To each their own I suppose.
I enjoy my CPX-2 RD gen 2 and may get a gen 3 to try out but will probably get a CPX-3 in 380 first. Not really interested in the DVG at this time. Thanks for the video and keep shooting 😊.
I was considering the 380 when I picked this one up, still might give it a try too, I don't have a lot of 380s so might be nice to add one to the collection. I haven't thought about trying the DVG, the CPX line seems to be the more common SCCY product, I might look into that one too. Thanks for watching!!
If it's not a primary defense firearm regular ammo would be fine, I personally use Federal, Remington, and Fiocchi the most. For defense most hollow point defense rounds should be good, there are a few new bullet designs that don't hit feed ramps just right, such as NOVX, personally I mostly use Sierra 124gr JHP or Nosler 115gr JHP. Smaller carry guns I tend to go with 115gr, full size carry guns 124gr. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!!
I've read the DVG1 trigger is much different. My understanding is the CPX2 trigger was designed to resemble the double action of a revolver. I haven't had a chance to tryout a DVG1, might have to look into it. Thanks for the comment!
I have not picked a holster for this yet. Considering this will likely be a backpack or handbag firearm we're looking for something with a dedicated compartment for carry. I'll probably do a video on this once we find something.
Oh, the reason the G2c shoots the pants off this gun, is adjustable sights, and the choice to replace them. my shield was dead on right out of the box. now each has 4000+ rounds through them, and both look new, with no problems. and the G2c is much easier to hold for big hands.
They pronounce it Sky. Guess that’s what it was going to be called but another company for something else was going to sue them for copyright I believe. So they spelled it this way but still pronounce it Sky.
I love my SCCY cpx2 its awesome mine absolutely hates Steelcase ammo though I wouldn't recommend it all the steel case ammo I've tried out of that gun it doesn't like it but I like brass better anyways it's easier on guns, I did a video and I change mags as soon as I fire the last round of brass as soon as it cycle the Steelcase the next one Jam they might not all hate it but mine absolutely does
Used to be the day when $229 would buy you a lot of ammo and very little pistol. Now it will buy you a lot of pistol and very little ammo. Thanks to computer guided manufacturing. Stainless steel, structural polymer, and careful safe design. No Zinc or Zymek.
Very true, technology in manufacturing has definitely brought the cost of a decent firearm down, and material costs now drive a lot of what we see with ammo I feel.
I don't care if your state has concealed no permit carry. You new guys, and some of you old timers, should take a safety class, best gun money you'll spend, and you probably won't flash, or shoot someone, including but not always your friend, or yourself.
Terrible accuracy, I hit bullseyes with my G2c at 10 yds, 6 " plates at 20, and 12" plates at 50-100 yds but I carry a S+W shield + and suggest you do also, a couple hundred difference? No, night and day. SCCY are junk, and Hi Point are also have a couple of each, in bags on my desk. Spend the extra money now. people say, I can leave it in my glove box. BAD IDEA (kinda give a killer a gun)
It depends on how one carries. Anything in a bag or where the trigger is exposed a safety is good. In a holster with a trigger guard the safety is not so critical. IMO.
You will lose money, because when you try to trade it in, no-one will touch it. And you will try, once you have a few bucks in your pocket. Shield 299.00, if you know where to look 100% better weapon. G2c 300.00 double action, But goes bang every time. If you look, you can get one at 260.00 Not even close!!!!!!
Yah I have 4050 rounds through my G2c No failures. I owned a SCCY for a very short time. Not the accuracy I needed. My Shield, with 3000+ rounds, and my G2c will group at 50, and hit 100 Yd targets. at 10 to 20 Yds. bullseyes I'm not the best shot and either gives me the best chance. MY SCCY never could. I get the backup thing. You have to try the Shield +, A whole new world in your hand@@Paul-hy5ei
I Bought this today IWI MASADA 9mm going to the range tomorrow. Can't wait this gun is everything a Glock should be. A lot of my Sheriff friends, say this is the one.@@Paul-hy5ei
No, tried 8 pawn shops, and 6 gun shops and no one wanted it, or a G2c. I shoot a Berretta, or a H&K. If your that broke don't carry. If anything happens, you wont be able to afford an attorney.@@bluecrazzzy892

If you're used to revolvers I imagine this trigger felt very similar, it's a nice pistol, especially if someone can get used to the trigger pull.
The trigger draw is way to long, I had one.... The G2c has a long draw, but not like this gun, and the reset is better.
This looks amazing for new shooters forces them to focus on fundamentals
I agree, I've had a couple of these now and have used them to help new shooters. They're just simple semi-auto pistols.

Palmetto State Armory has these on clearance right now for $139
DANG!! Can't beat that price.
Ah, I hate seeing better deals after already buying it! That is an incredible price.
I had to really fight the urge! I already own two Ruger LC9’s
sportsmans $179 with the red dot included.
I love the trigger on mine
I have a cpx 2 and it's pink my color ❤
What animation does it take ?
Where did you get his for $180??
Rural King
They're $149 on the sportsman's outdoor superstore right now and that's a steal.
Forgot to mention that's for the green grip one only buy hey it's gen 3 and for $149 I wouldn't care what color it is I picked one up.
What’s the best ammo to use ?
If it's not a primary defense firearm regular ammo would be fine, I personally use Federal, Remington, and Fiocchi the most. For defense most hollow point defense rounds should be good, there are a few new bullet designs that don't hit feed ramps just right, such as NOVX, personally I mostly use Sierra 124gr JHP or Nosler 115gr JHP. Smaller carry guns I tend to go with 115gr, full size carry guns 124gr.
Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!!
I can really trigger off a mag in a hurry with my SCCY DVG1. Trigger is very different from the CPX2.
I've read the DVG1 trigger is much different. My understanding is the CPX2 trigger was designed to resemble the double action of a revolver. I haven't had a chance to tryout a DVG1, might have to look into it. Thanks for the comment!
Have u got a holster yet
Company name
I have not picked a holster for this yet. Considering this will likely be a backpack or handbag firearm we're looking for something with a dedicated compartment for carry. I'll probably do a video on this once we find something.
. I still can't get someone to buy it😢
Live and learn it was one of the first purchases
$179 with the red dot all in makes it a no brainer.
With that trigger, I just can't..
I love mine
Oh, the reason the G2c shoots the pants off this gun, is adjustable sights, and the choice to replace them. my shield was dead on right out of the box. now each has 4000+ rounds through them, and both look new, with no problems. and the G2c is much easier to hold for big hands.
They pronounce it Sky. Guess that’s what it was going to be called but another company for something else was going to sue them for copyright I believe. So they spelled it this way but still pronounce it Sky.
Nice
Not a bad piece for the price for sure.
I love my SCCY cpx2 its awesome mine absolutely hates Steelcase ammo though I wouldn't recommend it all the steel case ammo I've tried out of that gun it doesn't like it but I like brass better anyways it's easier on guns, I did a video and I change mags as soon as I fire the last round of brass as soon as it cycle the Steelcase the next one Jam they might not all hate it but mine absolutely does
the black ones work better than the pink ones
Could I ask where you bought it from please?
I picked mine up at Rural King, if they don't have the color you like they can have it ordered too.
I got the gen three pistol
Used to be the day when $229 would buy you a lot of ammo and very little pistol. Now it will buy you a lot of pistol and very little ammo. Thanks to computer guided manufacturing. Stainless steel, structural polymer, and careful safe design. No Zinc or Zymek.
Very true, technology in manufacturing has definitely brought the cost of a decent firearm down, and material costs now drive a lot of what we see with ammo I feel.
Double action genuis...
I’ve never heard the word bougie used so incorrectly
I got mine for free. They were giving them away because the trigger was si bad
I am not a fan of this gun for defense. But for laugh and plinking fun.....yes....guns are cool
BAD IDEA (kinda give a killer a gun)
its sky (sccy)
I had one it was terrible.
I've heard of a few having bad experiences with these, that's unfortunate, for the price, it makes me wonder if those were poorly quality controlled.
in this day and age ...who wouldnt put a safety on a gun.
It depends on how one carries. Anything in a bag or where the trigger is exposed a safety is good. In a holster with a trigger guard the safety is not so critical. IMO.
Are you gay?
13 minutes with 7 commercials midway I stopped watching
What a waste of $180
There's a reason COPS carry Glocks, and not SCCY. And don't look for them anytime soon. Pay for quality!!
Richard, I have both a CPX-2 and a G2C. Yes, I far prefer the G2C in all aspects, but my CPX-2 is reliable and serves as a great backup gun.
Bro has personal beef with this gun stop whining
No, tried 8 pawn shops, and 6 gun shops and no one wanted it, or a G2c. I shoot a Berretta, or a H&K. If your that broke don't carry. If anything happens, you wont be able to afford an attorney.@@bluecrazzzy892
doesn’t know what boujee means but that’s okay for a man.
This gun is trash so I can no longer trust your content so unreliable
What ammo do u recommend for home defense for this firearm?
