About the time you hit Great Bend, I fell and tore a tendon in my knee. Hearing you pluck up the fortitude to keep pressing despite the pain has challenged this 59 year old to get out of bed and stretch those legs no matter how much screaming and yelling I do. Thanks for the inspiration.
Thanks for these videos everyday. As an IT manager and day hiker I look forward to this daily. Nice break. Don’t think it ever do this sort of thing (definitely an overnight or two but not months of it) but like your content!
"Man in the wilderness, holding out his cup (bottle) for water and a stranger filling it" truly kindness and much appreciated.Would make a wonderful painting.. esp with that background. The cows can't help admiring your colors, like the Autumn 🍁 so swiftly you go.Have a pain free night, sleep well
I continue to watch you every day, Matt! So appreciate your efforts showing us the topography of the land and the beautiful nature of our nation. Continue onward, young man!👍🏔️🥾
Your words near the beginning of the video remind me of a favorite saying, "None of us are going to get out of this alive." Good luck and I hope you stay safe.
The way you describe the foot pain is truly how living with chronic pain is like. I had a headache everyday for three years after a car accident. Life has to go on. Every day I wake up without a headache I am so grateful. It’s also why I am so quick to comment about the foot pain. I just really get how much other sucks. Also I’ve learned that dis functional movement patterns result in pain. Since you were dealing with your right foot for so long, you had to adjust your walking pattern. Even if subconsciously. So it sorta checks out that it’s now in the other foot.
Stil realy beautiful views , those fallcolors are spectacular ! Reminds me of your Silverthorne alt video's. Sorry to hear your left foot is acting up again . Mayby look for a podiatrist in Grand Junction ?? Hopefully you will be able to find the beans and rice there also .Keep it on .
When I was trekking to Everest, our cook ran off with our food. We had mashed potatoes and ketchup for dinner until they killed a goat and then we had yak liver. I appreciated the mashed potatoes and ketchup after that. Know what you are going through with the dinners.
After I retired from 20 years in the military, I found myself working with mostly people 20 years younger than me. They complained how they were not going to come into work the next day because they were sore. I told them that if I waited for nothing on my body to be sore I would never come in to work
Matt, maybe offer to trade a bland meal for something with more taste? That may appease your inner stubborn. When hurting like you are now, do you only stop for meals / snacks, or do you take breaks every so many miles, or do you count on social encounters for breaks? Colorado has been much more interesting than Kansas. Looking forward to Utah.
I generally take a break when I feel like I need it versus having any sort of set schedule. Sometimes things are going really well and I might go for hours and other times the pack is heavy and the terrain is challenging and I’m taking a lot of shorter breaks.
There must be a way to manually only use only satellite mode on your iPhone. I own a galaxy, and I don't think android has the satellite communcator yet.
As a seamstress, i would disagree with a sewing kit being useless on a cross country hike. A small packet of thread and a needle can be invaluable in certain situations, weighs nothing and takes up almost no space. But need to stitch up your tent or torn garments, etc and you will be so happy that you threw it in the bottom of your pack.
__ I tried not watching you for a couple of days but that just meant I had to go back and watch the ones I missed. I do worry that by watching I might be contributing to you harming yourself. My addiction echoing yours. Few humans in history have ever tried to walk a giant continent between winters. Probably not what tendons were designed for. If you wanted to take a break and paddle the Missouri for a couple of months, it wouldn't bother me. You'd still be moving and not stuck in civilization. In other words, I don't want my "like" to be something on the order of people going to the Indianapolis 500 and pretending they're not going for the crashes.
Ok, LTE, stands for "long term expansion" has nothing to do with signal quality or strength. I worked in the cellular industry, it simply means that they have the capability to upgrade the radios and other equipment on the towers.

Day 160. Love the area you are in.
Thanks, interesting. ✌🏻👊🏼

Probably a trail cam by that toilet!
11:35 "homeless with momentum" 🤣
The colors are really popping. 😎✌
Used to do photography and we would use "gaffers tape" which is a cloth based but would never leave a residue sticky crap like duct tape.

Heck, In Kansas the other day I had a sheriff's deputy go down my hiking road (dirt road 1/4 mile from my house and ask if I was all right.

After a weekend in the mountains I used to aim to barely be able to walk when I came into work on Monday. That way I could be getting paid to heal
@@FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes The like is for the comedy, not the activity.

Trying to imagine how long the sewer line would be for that. 13:54

Juvenile bears, sheesh. Those kids need to grow up.
MONEY is the root of ALL

Personally I’ve had a lot more luck with tenacious tape patches.

Not a stress fracture in your foot?

It’s actually long term evolution.
It’s called victim behavior. Accidental death almost, almost, always is the result of contributing behavior making a victim.
