  • A brief review of my favorite radio controlled ship in my collection.... and of course that is my NQD 1/325 scale Titanic. It is ready to run right out of the box and is a lot of fun to operate. It’s fairly detailed and a great quality product. I have had mine a few years and have been very happy with it. It’s still available on Amazon if you think you might one of your own. As a Titanic buff, and pool owner, this was a perfect edition to my ongoing love of scale model hobbies. I will show you a bit about how it operates and things you can do with the model; I will also show you different views of it in our pool. This is not an unboxing video - just a brief demo of a model I really like. Thanks for checking it out!!!

      Yes very true, the funnel lighting would be better if they could have found a way to get a small LED to directionally light the outside of each funnel and to light the hull would be awesome! but that definitely would have increased the cost and the weight of an already heavy model; however - for the price and the ready to run joy right out of the box - I think it’s a pretty nice package :-)

    I've had mine on the lake several times. Some tips: seal the hole that the mast/masts plug into. They're just holes straight into her hull. Also, some clear tape over the button is a good idea, although I've not bothered and now it won't unclick due to corrosion. The yellow tape is useless, I replaced mine with the electrical tape size roll of gorilla tape torn straight down the middle. It seals that seam very well and you can thin out the white a little bit. Gives it more scale. Beyond that, disassembly would be required to make her "unsinkable", but she does surprisingly well with just these few simple modifications.

      @@ourdogzippy so it can go pretty darn far, far enough that during the day you almost can't see it. At night, however, it appears as a searing red dot. Would be fantastic to have red and green lights on opposite sides so it would be easier to tell which direction its facing. One night, on calm waters, 20mph gusts kept blowing her further out. It was quite a struggle getting back but the whole thing started as soon as it was on the water with a fresh battery so I had the power to get back. Unusual conditions, but still got back without taking on any water.

      @@jordanricker4948 awesome :-) that sounds really cool (would have made a great video for youtube!!!) - I have a destroyer I built and I had it out in a lake on the first day - wind blew so hard that day and the Model is very top heavy... wind gust caught the radar mast like a sail and started to roll it over- almost capsized it - the deck is not sealed so the hull would have filled right away - would have - ruined the electronics and sank it - disaster was averted but yikes!

      I have been happy with mine, but just keep in mind it is slow and makes wide turns so you need a large pool or lake to get the most out of it. It is somewhat detailed but maybe a bit basic some might say It has a toy quality to it and does not have the level of detail a model kit would provide. But keep in mind this is not meant to be a museum quality RC - It is a ready to run out of the box Titanic, so that in itself I s pretty cool! And I was happy with it’s appearance - so I would consider this a step of above a toy RC boat but is is not hobby level. It is the perfect boat for someone that loves Titanic and would like and RC boat that is ready to run out of the box that is not the common speedboat... Also Some people do not like the motor noise as the motor sound is loud but I actually kind of like that. To me that sounds like it is steaming on! Overall I was pretty happy with it but there are many that watched my review that did not like the detailing of it and some of the things I pointed out... so I tried to give you a summary of many viewers opinions... all opinions from the viewers are valid good points so it just a matter of what you are looking to get out of it...But I would certainly buy it again if I had to do it over - I like it :-)

      Hello, I would not recommend sinking this model. It’s fairly watertight but if forced underwater, water can and will get into the electronics. There are a few videos of this out there where this model did not work after someone sinking it so I would not try it with this one:-) Leokim has two videos that show this not working after sinking :-)

    Just got mine a few days ago and enjoying it! But I did my research before buying and solved the fatal flaw of this model. Use silicone to seal the two holes on the keel, they just go straight into the ship breaking and/or sinking it. I’ve done it and ship has worked great for me (although the battery on mine specifically was weak). By the way do you still have yours working?

    • @ourdogzippy
      @ourdogzippy  6 місяців тому

      Interesting! Yes mine still works, never sank - no issues - but I don’t leave it in the water for extended periods of time after the battery runs out, and I only use it occasionally. So not many opportunities for the destructive qualities of water to breech the hull and bring a slow demise to my model:-)

    • @ourdogzippy
      @ourdogzippy  3 роки тому

      Hi - no I don’t think it would work if you created the sinking and fully submerged - high risk the electronics get too wet - the model is water resistant but not water proof- there is actually an older UA-cam video where this sank in a pool and it was pretty wrecked after that - the UA-camr’ is Leokimvideo “Titanic” he did two videos on it and they are pretty good - I can’t remember if he got it working again - been a long time since I saw them but it’s worth a look :-)

    Hi mine is same model but the other prop is not running. Do i need to fully charge it? Or outbof the box it should be turningnright away?

    • @ourdogzippy
      @ourdogzippy  2 роки тому

      Sorry to hear you are having an issue with yours! I would fully charge it first as the charge right out of the box may not be strong enough to turn all screws/props. It will malfunction with a weak charge. Also check the adjustments on the controller to make sure power is directing towards the props when you pull or push the trigger - on mine it is the buttons TH TRIM, try pushing it up or down depending on the power ratio, (up to much forward will be stronger and reverse weaker) (down to much would be the reverse) so (aim for a balance in the middle using those buttons) If it is still not working after the charge and playing around / testing the TH TRIM (Throttle Trim) there could then be something mechanically wrong, if you determine it has this issue and if it is possible to return it then it would be better to exchange it for a new one if it is not working, otherwise you would need to open it up and try to find out and troubleshoot what is wrong. An RC hobby shop could do this for you and repair it if you are not sure you want to work on it. Good luck with it!

    • @ourdogzippy
      @ourdogzippy  4 роки тому

      Oh that’s cool! I am sure you will enjoy it! it’s a 9.6 volt battery pack so you just have to do a search for that type of pack but match the shape and connector type as they are a few options out there... typically 9.6 volt are flat so this is a little unique as you need a box shape but should not be hard to find online... Amazon typically has all sorts of battery packs. I only have one pack myself of this type so I never did a search for extras but try searching for This one as I took a peek and found one - it’s on amazon now as of 8/7/20 but there are only 7 left- “FMT battery pack 9.6volt NiCd 700mah for RMS Titanic boat RC” search that and you should find it...

    • @ourdogzippy
      @ourdogzippy  3 роки тому

      Well, the RC model is built really well it “should” not sink and was not made to be a submersible model... but if you wanted to try ANYTHING can sink if you want it to - you will ruin it though if you sink it, the RC equipment was not meant to be submerged... but yes you could sink it with enough holes I suppose but I wouldn’t try it on this one! :-)

      I think it’s a great RC ship for the price, but it is not hobby grade. It runs well but it will be slow with a wide turn radius. It is very detailed for a ready to run kit but not detailed by hobby level standards… So it really depends on what you are looking for…. I am very happy with it and so far as I know it is the only RC Titanic that is ready to run out of the box so unless you want to build one then this is your ship :-)
