Greetings from Dublin. Good stuff - thank you. Yes indeed.... 1. Determine what you actually need/want it for [local/shorthops/shopping, medium distance, long-range, commuter, off-road, final kilometer and so on), do your research and get the most suitable, 2. Purchase a reputable make/model from a reputable seller, 3. And maintain/service it properly (no shortcuts, please), 4. Use your common sense - just because you CAN go at a certain speed, it doesn't mean you HAVE TO..... 5. So find your sweet spot (personally 18-20 kph) - with proper - PROPER - planning this will get you where you want to go, safely AND you can actually enjoy (yes, enjoy) the trip, 6. Remember, we use the roads/lanes as a privIlige, not a right, 7. ALWAYS bear in mind they are NOT toys - adhere to manufacturers' instructions (especially in terms of long-term storage, charging etc.), 8. EVERY DRIVER IS OUT TO KILL YOU - maintain situational awareness - anticipation is the best braking system, imho, 9. Don't play silly buggers - sometimes the best thing to do is simply stop, dismount and walk for a bit (I ALWAYS do this at roundabouts and certain junctions where I want to turn - crossing the road at the pedestrian crossing is quite ok), 10. Wear your helmet, 11. When you get your new eScooter ("I LOVE THE SMELL OF AOVO IN THE MORNING"),, go somewhere safe and practice, practice, practice, 12. Don't get cocky - wearing safety gear does not make us invincible. So APART from all that, enjoy - they are colossally great fun - happy travels.
As a scooter commuter, although I agree that range is important, most commuters don't need 40+ mile range. 9 times out of 10, a scooter commuter is not trying to replace a car, but a bike or walk. Scooters are first mile/last mile solutions for transit riders, or for urban commuters that live near work. Those last 1 out of 10, sure, look for huge mileage, but most of us know how to recharge every night for our daily single-digit miles round trip, even though I could ride a few days without recharging, because it's better for the batteries.
Thanks for your comments Joe. It all depends on the person I guess. If it wouldn't take me three times as long to get to work, I would ride my scooter the 15 to 20 mi each way every day. I have put 1300 miles on mine in 5 months! If you live in a big city and work close to where you live then yes I guess that would be true. But as you know and as I said in the video, 40 mi of range does not mean 40 miles of range. This is for beginners that haven't bought an electric scooter yet and don't know that 40 miles does not mean 40 miles. Also, if somebody does not have the opportunity to charge at work, they need to know whether they can make it back home or not. There are a lot of factors and variables that are specific to each person But I do agree that the average commuter does not need a 40 mi scooter. Again, I appreciate your comments and thanks for watching friend!
I disagree too due inflation I’m actually buying a scooter to get back-and-forth to work to save on gas because gas is so expensive the governments all up in our pockets With everything not just gas but food I can barely wipe my ass With the prices of everything. I hope I don’t get hit by a drunk driver with all these alcoholics in the world all mass distracted by beer and our bullshit news And fake sports
I agree with you I know for sure that gotrax scooters are pretty true to mileage range and even more which is impressive, I think this guy is just trying to be a know-it-all he's focusing on all the wrong things but I guess that's just what people do to get attention
I've seen so many scooter review channels, & they never once dip their toes into these topics! So basically 100% of this was new to me, Thank you very much! :D
In terms of actual(!) range, I've found that if you take the manufacturers stated range, multiply it by 0.65 and add 1.25km (at a speed of 15-18 kph) it's surprisingly accurate, in my experience. Happy travels.
Oh and to avoid fires in the house. Always connect the charger in the electric wall unit and After connect to the scooter. And do not leave the scooter full charged still connected to the charger for long hours like a cell phone.
@@etric4947 ok thank you so much I appreciate the info a ton as I already let ur charger over night twice so I feel lucky & greatful , I've been blessed fr 😭
and always always wear a helmet! I crashed my scooter and fortunately wore a helmet and just had bruised ribs and arms and no brain injury due to the helmet
As it happens one of the materials in the kind of gloves you might prefer to have worn, prior to the ride to the hospital, actually has a Ti knuckle protector.
Great video, and spot on. I bought a NanRobot also and for the same reason - Roadrunner Support. I'll add one more thing to consider too, make sure you don't get one that's underpowered for your size. I made that mistake with my first scooter, a 500 watt single motor scooter. It turns out it was fine in the flat, but it was not able to get my 235 lbs up the local hills. If you're a bigger guy and want to be able to make it up a hill then plan on getting a dual motor scooter with a 20 AH or more battery unless you want to buy it twice like I did.
@@blazk1ntok350 It will struggle. If you live in a very flat area it will probably be ok, but if you have hills, I'd recommend spending a little more for a dual motor.
@@AKCobra1120 thanx..i didnt got it yet waiting for mail man to deliver me but yeah i think with small very small hills will be ok idk.. the name of the scooter is Eco speed 8x
Bro, great video. Also, it pretty much brought me to tears hearing about your wife man... I hope her recovery is going well and ends up successful. I shattered the radial bone in my dominant wrist about a month and a half into owning my first e scoot.... Surgery didn't fix it and it'll never be the same again. Can't even bend it. I'm glad you brought up safety and the fact that they are not toys. It's a "tool" and needs to be respected as such. I wish I was a freestyle scooter kid instead of a freestyle skateboard kid; then I would have already known that no matter what happens (an itch on your face, you drop something, etc.) that you CANNOT take a single hand off the handlebars no matter how fast you're going. I was going a very very short distance and had a McDonald's bag under my hand on the grip of the scoot, it slipped and fell and I naturally reacted to grab it and it pretty much destroyed my life, so yeah. Serious stuff. Thank you so much for the video!
Hey, thank you so much for the comment! Yes my wife is still recovering and will never be the same either. But she is doing better and slowly getting back on an e-bike. I appreciate you being a part of the channel my friend!
and that is why I bought the $200 (originally $400) scooter to try out and have been doing exhaustive research ever since. The Swagger 5 is not a bad commute to/from the bus depot but is little more than that, plus, its suspension is basically your T12, L1 & L2 spinal discs. If you didn't understand that, please look it up because you need to know it and potentially avoid it. Thank you for your input on the subject, priceless info!
I couldn't agree more with point 2. My first scooter was an Australian band (where I live) called a Dragon. Your can't buy parts for Dragons unfortunately. Another point I'd like to see you mention: modular/split hub wheels. Super important for tire changing.
Ben, yes I agree! You have to choose a company that has LOTS of parts available or your screwed. I want to do a video at some point of showing how to change a tire or inner tube. I just need a flat to do it..haha That will include showinh the split hub for easy replacement. Thanks so much for watching Ben!
The first thing to consider before buying an e-scooter is to check the states' laws in the USA. This will determine the battery and motor power of the scooter to be legal on the road. Wear a helmet and use a mirror. Great presentation.
It may be for some people and it may not be for some people. If you're in a dense city, you can't be going 40 mph on the sidewalks and it's probably not safe to ride in the streets. In less dense cities or out in the suburbs, it's much easier to go faster on the sidewalk or much safer in some cases to ride on the road. Thank you for your comment. I appreciate it!
I weigh about 165. I bought a basic skooter. And I go about 25 to 30 mph. I use it for short trips like the gym and small errands. It's good for about 20 mile range. It works fine for me.
@@HobartsReviewshey bud… one major error in your video is that you’ll get the farthest range on single motor eco mode… that’s wrong. The farthest range is dual motor eco mode. A single motor under load draws much more electricity than two motors operating efficiently. Very common misconception, and WILL sway your range tests. Hope you upload a video with accurate information because you could be costing the company sales and essentially slandering them! I have no affiliation with them… I love my Varla…. Good luck
Believe me, I've been learning my lessons about these scooters over the past 3 years I've been using them to commute to work. On my 3rd scooter now, just received it, about to take my first commuter ride in a few hours. First scooter was a cheap, no-name brand, slow, light, airless tires, no suspension, good enough range for me, but it got the job done for about a year. Went through like 3 throttles on that thing and did some DIY rainproofing. Realized I really needed something faster and more robust, particularly for the roadway sections of my trip. Went with another off-brand model with a decent 30mph top speed, suspension, tube tires, rode like a Cadillac, DIY waterproofed that as well. Rear light went out, rear fender broke off got my back filthy in wet and dirt, no parts availability, crashed like 3 times on it, one leaving me with a road rash. Went through about 4 tire tubes and a rear tire and tons of brake pads. Finally, the stem broke, luckily, I was only just taking off at a traffic light. Now I decided to shop a little smarter... got a Segway for the parts availability, already rainproof, customer service, warranty, and safety and reliability features. Hopefully this one lasts me more than a year or two and can be easily repaired when needed.
I'm stuck between a 2000w single motor and a 2 x 1000w scooter. which one would you go for? I've ridden both & have my thoughts, just curious to see what you have to say. I ride both smooth tarmac, hills and some offroad.
What are the two brands? That's also important. Can you get any part you need from both of something breaks? I would probably go for the dual motor scooter.
@@HobartsReviews the dual motor is designed a Polish brand (Techlife q5) but assembled in China as always and the other one is called Kukirin G4 from China. the European one has spare parts & customer service while the Chines ones claim they would support customers should anything go wrong. I don't think anything could go wrong with the Chines one though at least in the first 2 years.
When Im riding my scooter I advised everyone to stop at stop sign as if you was driving a car. When I get ready to stop, I release my hand off of the throddle and let it slow down by itself. I also look behind once in a while to see if a car behind me. If I see that the road is heavy traffic I just ride on the sidewalk. When I come up to a pile of leaves I slow down and go around it if I can. If I come up some where that I can't see coming around a curve, I ring my bell to let them know that Im coming up.
I agree about having a decent helmet and the risk of riding on small wheels. Four months ago, I was borrowing an upright scooter with 9-inch wheels. Riding at maybe 20 km/h, I cut across a lawn and onto pavement. The grass hid the edge of the pavement so I didn't see that it was raised. I went head-over-handlebars and rolled the fall, hitting my knee, shoulder, chin and helmet on the pavement. It was very painful and the helmet cracked but I was not seriously injured. I hate to think what would have happened if I was going faster. I intend to get a helmet with chin protection. I now have my own electric scooter and I feel much safer. It is a seated scooter with 14-inch wheels. The seated position lowers my centre of mass. I tried riding my scooter over the same raised edge that caused my fall and my scooter mounted it easily.
Im going for the n6 for one simple reason, I weigh about 260. So performance scoots are my only option. My daughters little 250 watt gotraxx pulls me around better than expected but any hill steep enough to run water required a kick to go faster than 6 mph with my tonage.
Thanks my man, I could feel you know what you're talking about. I ride similar sccoter (2000W, 60 kmph max speed). I know it could be dangerous and had a taste of it meself. Now I'm thinking I need longer range, as when I ride at max speed for like 5 mins straight, the battery drops significantly. Also a better suspension (not just big springs, but like oil suspension) is a thing to consider. Roads are far prom perfect simetime and for 10 inch wheels road holes and level changes can be a problem. A suspension that can really absorb the shock, without pushing pack on your afterwards, can be a great help for stability and comfort of riding. Thank you for yyour review! It is really helpful and unorthodox in a good way.
I made a couple of these mistakes when I got my first electric scooter (for 200) and when it broke the only reason I didn’t get hurt was quick reflexes and I was able to get it replaced for free due to the place I got it from the brand (hover-1) has no support and doesn’t care. I broke the second one and after a while I jumped ship to NIU who has a 2 year warranty and sells replacement parts and such
While scooters are fun, I think it’s important for people that are buying them to know that they’re inherently much more dangerous than electric bicycles due to the smaller wheels, and longer steering column. Hitting a bump, crack, curb, pothole, etc. at speed is way more disastrous on a scooter vs a bike with larger wheels. The longer steering column also makes the steering much more “twitchy” and less stable than most bikes.
That's absolutely true my friend! If you add a seat, it makes it much more stable closer to a bike. I know that kind of defeats the purpose but it helps. But yes, they are extremely dangerous because of the size of the wheels.
Don't do it! If you keep your tires pumped up to 50 psi every time you go on a ride and don't ride over any crap nine times out of 10 you won't get a flat. I have had 20 different scooters and rode thousands of miles and I've only had to change 3 flat tires. I've also had solid tire scooters and they are horrible to ride on. In my opinion. It's just not the same.
@@HobartsReviews Hey this is so helpful! Thank you, air tires it is. Could you please tell me how you add air pressure to the tires? Can you use a normal gas station one or have to buy something specific for small tires? Im about to spend a chunk to surprise my GF with two for us need to do it right.
Love my Segway Ninebox Max scooter but it is very large and heavy tipping the scales over 40lbs so looking for a much lighter more compact e-scooter that is comfortable and good balance. Thoughts? Looking at the new super compact Dynamic Scooter that weights a lot less and smaller footprint to get to/from bus stop. Really only need ride a mile to and from the transit stop.
@@HobartsReviews wow that is a heavy one! I only need a 5 miles range each way at the most. Looking at the ultra portable models. Trying to decide between Segway smallest powered scooter and the new Dynamic Scooter Model B.
Thanks Joe! Yeah she is back bike riding here and there and last week I got her on her first e-bike and she did well. We are now looking for an e-bike for her so she can come with me in my long scooter rides. I appreciate your concern Joe!
Well you can't do anything with the cold weather. Most scooters will behave the same. But one of my favorites right now is the Ausom Leopard. It's big, fast, powerful, looks good and under $1k. Here is the link to it but I also have a video on my channel you can watch. www.geekbuying.com/go/7wnLq8MA Here is a link to the video ua-cam.com/video/8VPy02BO3h8/v-deo.html
Thank you for creating this video. You provided some really great considerations. I am also researching the purchase of an E Scooter. One thing I did learn is how state laws govern where you are allowed to ride your scooter. For example, in California, you cannot ride your scooter on pedestrian side walks; and when using bike lanes, your maximum speed is limited to 15 mph.
Thanks so much my friend! Yeah each state is different. Where I live in Florida I can ride pretty much anywhere as long as I'm not being a butt head in traffic or around people. If you have any more questions while researching let me know and I'll try to help. Hobart@hobartsreviews.com
Because fish jump all the time here in Florida so it's not that big of a deal for me haha. Sorry, I'll make sure to look out for fish jumping in the background next time.
I'm 5ft1inch, looking for a scooter for short commutes to the grocery store. Do you think the Segway Ninebot KickScooter F2 Plus Electric Scooter (800W Motor / 55km Range / 25km/h Top Speed) will work for me? My concern is the height of the handles...
I was going 30+ and something happened to the front wheel idk if I pressed the front brake by accident or what. The front wheel just skid and I fell, tumbling. I cracked a piece of my wrist and had scrapes that’s all, thank god. PTSD? Yeah….I’m scared to go 40mph now, without gear ofc! With gear I’m still shaky cause I can’t believe those small ass wheel are allowing ppl to go up to 70mph that’s ridiculous. A small bump and your flying. Sadly I could never enjoy flying on a scooter again. When I feel it’s picking up way too much speed I slow down and I hate it
picked up a gotrax rival as first time electric scooter rider for 198 at Walmart mainly using it to the gym and back roughly 4 miles total trip so far had it for a week and 0 problems so far
@@HobartsReviews it’s a fun little scooter! Especially for my needs :) I was looking towards a gotrax e bike but haven’t decided on model yet but I do wanna do a few bike trails
I'm trying to find a scooter to commute, but I know this matters, and your video popped up. My only problem right now, I don't know which brand is good and which brand is not
Hey thanks for reaching out! I would be happy to help. What is your budget and how far do you have to go? You can also look at my channel and watch some of my reviews to get an idea. Let me know
well i brought the hiboy s2 pro last september, something happnede to it (dont knoe what) but it doesnt come on, so i go on their website to find a batteryy(assuming) and they have as sold out, i dont know if hiboy is a reputabel brand but yeah (also i live in england, and hiboy is a german brand but they only operate out of america and canada) makes sense
Thanks for your comment but I disagree on the tires. I've had 15 or 20 scooters and have only had three flats over 2 years. I always keep mine at 50 psi or the maximum recommended and don't write over crap.
Curious but do you guys have medical insurance at the time of her accident/injury? I know USA medical is expensive. I live in Canada but I wonder about this if I was to get hurt while riding my e-bike or future e-scooter? I know my work would cover me for short term disability but I do not have extended disability via work or mortgage. Not sure if I could get on Workers comp either since most of the time i ride it for fun and not to/from work.
No we did not have medical insurance. Her surgery was over 100k but we were able to get some forgiven by a program at the hospital that helps people with no insurance . We still owe them and the doctor himself several thousand dollars still to this day. Sucks!
@@HobartsReviews Interesting. I just googled that avg. health insurance in usa is appx $450 a month. That is a lot if you dont have a job that covers most of it. Thanks for sharing.
Those are good points, just a correction, nanrobot also deals in rebranding scooter from China, not saying it is a bad thing, I wanted a roadrunner but since I'm not in the US I biught the exact same scooter from kukirin, that sell outside of the US. And both brand used an OEM where they put their brand on the scooter.
I got an Engwe Y600 for $600.00 Support is present and has a following ! Very few videos out but it’s still good. I just received it yesterday so let’s see how it works in the months to come
Honestly first thing I look for when buying a scooter is the range. Everything else is a bonus. I wanna ride for hours freely and without anxiety of walking home
To add to this I don’t look at the displayed range but the watts to amp hours ratios displayed to get a more accurate guestimation. Like a 20ah 2400w scooter might get less range than a 350w 12ah scooter so always good to account for the theoretical maths
Good points for sure as range is important. You're going about it the right way. But as I say in the video, if your scooter breaks and you have nowhere to get parts, you're kind of SOL at that point. So make sure to get one with good range from a reputable company with lots of parts of available haha.
@@HobartsReviews you’re definitely right there! I’ve seen enough horror stories of poorly put together cells combusting and had my fair share of aftermarket mistakes trying to compensate for a lack of parts supply. I bought a aftermarket replacement rear hub motor for my wife’s ninebot max that she uses to go to work and the bolts slipped out over time ( the security hex bolts holding the motor together not the chassis bolts ) and the entire back end was chewed up in the velocity of movement. I also bought a e rider Dora which is more like a moped and there was no parts anywhere online for basic things other than replacement batteries so I later sold it and got a Dualtron scooter which has an abundance of spare parts. Sorry for the boring read lol I’ve been riding e scooters since they were belt driven 20 years ago and the passion never fades just like motorbikes. I often find myself trying to look for the next power upgrade or range buster usually within a few days of purchasing a new vehicle 😂 best of luck with your UA-cam channel you’ve earned my sub
When I got in touch with them, they told me that I would have to buy from Amazon in order to buy the warranty, unfortunately. I ended up going with fluidfreeride, and they offer an extended protection plan that includes accidents.
In this video I had the Nanrobot D6+ but since then I have had several. My favorite to date would probably be the Varla Eagle One V2 and my Apollo Phantom V3. I have videos on both of them if you want to watch. I appreciate the kind words!

Wow😮! both your guys' stories reminds me of getting my 1st razor manual scooter back when those little buggers were all the craze. the flashing wheels tho! Fun but you instantly felt its balancing limitations especially with the small hard rubber wheels going at fast speeds & really being made for kids size bodies. never got too daring with it. these e-bikes & scooters of today can be powerful & fast for sure & even with being safety conscious the unexpected is always there. I am in the mkt for either an e - bike or scooter w-removable seat/basket. mostly for a 10m round trip 2 day a week retirement job that includes 1 decent hilly section. your info has been really helpful especially with all the crap made under powered knockoffs with near zero customer service. hope your recoveries have gone well,
Hey, I didn't post a link for it. I'm sorry. Just search on Amazon for electronics warranty and it should pop up. It's based on the dollar value of the product you're buying. I think it's asurion
I have a rod and pins in my left leg from an accident 35 years ago. As I recall full recovery took about a year. The human body is an incredible thing. At 69 years old and in pretty good shape. My "bionic" leg is stronger than my "good" leg. I believe that your wife will make full recovery.! I have been looking at a variety of electric vehicles. Thanks for your insight.
Can anyone recommend the Kasa 2OOOW 6O Volts electric scooter. Has front and rear suspension, front and rear disc brakes and 12 inch wheels with chunky pneumatic tires. I am keen to buy it because I weigh 1OOkg. Can anyone who has one, or knows anything about them? If they are good or bad? Are spare parts easy to find ? Thanks everyone. Victor.👍👍
No! It's a generic brand with no spare parts on their website. They sell baby toys, camping and hiking gear, dog kennels , hand sanitizer, home appliances etc. Not even close to an electric scooter brand where you will get parts and support. That's a big fat No!!!
@@HobartsReviews Could you please recommend me something similar with the chunky tires, and must have front and rear suspension. It doesn't have to be 2000W 6O volts, but I weigh 1OOkg and I don't want something that is going to struggle to push me at a fast pace. It also has to be for sale on eBay because I am in a rural area and need it delivered to me. I'd rather have the grunt there and know I can use it when I need and want to. It must also have a seat.💯% My maximum that I can spend is $13OO. Any recommendations that you could give me would be much appreciated. Thank you. Victor.👍👍
I just want to know what's better front wheel drive or rear wheel drive? The rest is pretty irrelevant to me. I would assume fwd would be a little more sketchy turning under power and such. Or is there no real difference in feel.
Segway is a good brand and has parts and support. The C8 is a kids scooter. So if you are a kid yes. If your an adult then no. Maybe try the ninebot max or something like that.
Hey Hudson, yeah it's not a bad scooter. Kugoo is a pretty good brand and they have a warranty and they have lots of parts available. So that checks several boxes for me . haha. If you can afford a little more the G2 max has more power, top speed, hill climb and range. It's worth it if you can swing it. Let me know what you do!
Is my headlight and front light connected together? I had to but another mud cover to go over the tire. My scooter is gray, but to closes I could get was a black. The tell light doesn't fit in It's to big andthe wire that connects to the head light hit the mud cover making noise that's very distracted. So do I have to get a whole new scooter. I can't find no where around here that can repair it.
I removed my mud cover when it cracked . I just pulled the wire off the cover and super glued the light underneath the deck so it lights the ground red when I brake and no mud cover in the rear .
hi nice video. i currently have an lectric xp 3.0 i use for commuting to work and around town. 20-30 miles/day. in what i would call very rural arkansas. i can ride on most roads just fine at 20-32mph. due to circumstances (tornado caused tree to fall on bike and bent frame not being covered under warranty) i am looking at scooters as a possible upgrade path. i am between either a Kaabo Wolf King GT or a OBARTER X7. same basic specs, range and price. coming from an ebike is there any major differences i should be aware of?
Hey, yeah the lectric 3.0 is pretty nice! That sucks a tree fell on it. As far as differences there are a few. Scooters are more unstable than an e-bike. Because your center of gravity is higher and the tires are much smaller, it's a little bit more scary standing up than sitting down. Plus those scooters go twice as fast as the bike so you have to be even more careful. Wear a full face motorcycle helmet and elbow, knee pads and riding gloves. When you fall your hands are first and your face is next so protect yourself. With all that said scooters are super fun! The acceleration and speed is addicting. If you respect the scooter you will be fine but if you try to push it over its limits or your limits it will bite back. I put links to all of my safety gear in the description if you want to check some of it out. Hope this helps and let me know if you have any more questions.
Okay I am 300 pounds I only want a scooter that can go kinda fast for the fun of it but mostly to commute to work and my college which is less than 2 miles and then going to downtown which is less than maybe 10 miles I really don’t know what I should be looking for at this point I know my main goal is to get to point A from point B and back any recommendations I normally just walk around but a scooter seems fun to own and use
Hey, thanks for reaching out! So you are going to want to look for either a single motor 1000w scooter or a dual motor scooter. Because of your weight you need more power and battery to go fast (have fun) and to get the range to downtown. I made a review for the Ausom Leopard (1000w single motor) and it's bigger brother the Gallop (2400w dual motors) they are both reasonably priced. I would search for 1000w adult electric scooter and maybe dual motor electric scooter for adults and see what you find. Stay away from no name brands as I said in my video. If you find something you like do some research to see if they have a website and parts available before you buy. But you need at a minimum single motor 1000w or just go for the dual motor. Both will be heavy so hopefully you don't have to carry it anywhere. Hope this helps!
I think Nanrobot uses about a 175 pound avg for the distance and speed not no weight and least resistance per say. That’s what the website says at least.
Hey friend, thanks for the question! I don't know much about this brand, but I did look up their website and it seems like they do have some parts available in case something breaks. I'm not a big fan of the way it folds at the deck instead of on the stem, but that's just my personal opinion. For a 60 volt scooter you would think it would go faster than 32 mph??? So I'm not sure. If you have the money. Maybe you look at another brand like Ausom. They are a geek buying brand and they have one called the Gallop that's close in price to this one but goes 40 mph. It's basically the same as a Kugoo Kiran G3 Pro. I just don't know enough about this brand to be able to recommend it or not.
I don't have sidewalks to go to work.. Only 35-50 mph two lane roads with plenty of traffic. No bike path. 16 mile round trip. My 35 mph E Bike during my commuting is sketchy. I need 45 mph speeds at times.
45mph is really fast in a scooter. Especially in traffic. Just be careful on whatever you get and ALWAYS wear safety gear and a full motorcycle helmet! Thanks for watching!
I don’t recommend the aftermarket warranties. I’ve heard horror stories with them and I had my own bad experience with one (with a car not a scooter). Hopefully you found a good one. A helmet is always recommended for safety. When you fall off, the first thing to hit the ground is usually your head. My wife wanted to try my scooter (my first scooter-hurdle motorgear). It automatically goes into cruise control after 5 seconds of holding the throttle which she didn’t expect, got nervous and fell off. A few bumps and bruises but that led me to buy better models and like hobart said-name brands matter. Now we have nanrobot where we can turn off cruise control.
Hey, is it the iEnyrid M4 Pro S+? I reviewed it on my channel. Have you seen it? I thought it was ok but not the greatest. Range was good but it didn't have the best acceleration from a stop. But overall not bad for the price. Also iEnyrid should have parts available just in case. 😉
im looking for something i can fit in the trunk of a Mazda Miata that has a seat. Looking to use it for mobility issues(trouble walking long distances)
Hi. I just have some questions. For context, I am a college student right now, so budget is tight. I don't want to buy a car yet because of inconvenience and cost, Public transport is good, and I don't travel long distances by foot. I just wanted to know if you would recommend me buy n electric scooter, and if so, can you give me some options?
Yeah I say for sure get a scooter. Since your budget is tight and you are probably not looking for a big heavy speed demon, I would look for a single motor 500 - 100 Watt motor. It should still be pretty quick 20-25mph and have decent range 20mi or so but not break the bank. Check out some of my other videos I have a few that would fit that category. I really liked the Navi V40 pro. you can start there.
Great great thanks for you, very useful. I just want to buy a Segway p100se. It have a max 100 km range. At drive mode and 98 Kg i guess it will give 45 k range maybe. BTW what difference is between p100se and p100s ? GREAT THANKS AGAIN !!
J Cam, thanks so much! Yeah, I wanted to share everything that I learned so that others don't make mistakes. I've got almost 1700 miles on my nanrobot D6 Plus now and it's still going strong.
Hi i was looking to get a scooter and i want one around 300$ that can to like 17 to 20 mph and thats good do you know anything also do you think if its good to get one on walmart?
Excellent video. I like Segway as a brand as they have been around a long time, have tons of parts available, good warranty and best overall scooter build quality.
Ok so looking into it don't see a website for this brand which makes it hard to see if parts are available. Also customer service and warranty may or may not be good. Looks like it's a direct from China brand. Not that it's bad but as I talked about in my video , it's better to get from a company with a good presence online with their own website, contact info, parts availability etc. But it looks awesome! Kind of looks like a wolf king.. haha. Let me know how it goes... I'm interested to hear. Thanks for reaching out my friend! 😉
@@HobartsReviews Ya One I jus hope it doesn't take til end of summer to get here. Two. I hope it's not a bunch of parts I have to assemble and Three. My biggest fear i just Never get it! They r all over the web under various different websites for sale (dirt cheap $75 with discount mine was $46 free shipping) n another site was a Costco site selling em ( I was originally going thru them but my PayPal account froze up) So idk it seems sketchy with so many places selling em so cheap 😕. Answers r always over abundance. 🤔
Is iscooter a trusted brand? It looks like it has great reviews as a good starter electric scooter. I’m looking at the ix3 and have been super interested! Just wondering if I’d be able to find parts
I am having an extremely difficult time deciding. I need something that can do hills really well and handle not the nicest paved roads. I thought I had it narrowed down to Apollo Go or Apollo City. Then i read reviews and they are a huge company, but sounds like a lot of negative customer service interaction.... now I am stumped
Hey, thanks for reaching out! I have the phantom and have had no issues. I too have seen the people complaining on Facebook but you never know the situation. Some of these guys are taking them in jumps and complaining their stems broke. They are not made for that. I tell you what I just got the Varla Eagle One V2 for a review and I think it's my new favorite. Even over my Apollo Phantom and Nanrobot N6. It feels super high quality and has no clickity clanks whatsoever. If you jump off of a curb you only hear the tires hit the road and that's it. It might be my new #1... Lol. So maybe look at the Varla brand. Hope this helps. Let me know if I can help anymore.
Great video! I subscribed.. I'm thinking about buying one, I just need it to comute to work 10 miles from home, which one would be the best for a new rider? A two motor without the automatic cruse control, as I read it causes problems for beginners?? Range rather than speed, and something no more than 1200.00 dollars... Thanks!
Thanks for the sub! It's hard to saym Nanrobot has the D6+ 2.0 for $1399 right now. They also have the lightning 2.0 for $1299. Hiboy titan pro is $1199. Kugoo G2 and G3 are also pretty good and more affordable. Hopefully this helps a little. Thanks again for watching and for the sub!
I bought my e-scooter for $170 on Temu and commute 10 miles round trip daily . Holds up and does the job. This was my entry to e-scooters . In hindsight now , I’d definitely get a scooter with shock absorbers , very important when you have 8.5 inch tires.
Right now it's $200 off and only $1599.00 for the 2.0 www.nanrobot.com/products/nanrobot-d6-plus?gclid=Cj0KCQjw756lBhDMARIsAEI0Agn6gEFiHw-906wWVrr6PsSQcf84KPyZB2mIYNwKQ5NeQMUgPP8k_HAaAl-ZEALw_wcB&ref=j30CiM29
Do you think I still need a full faced Helmet if my scooter goes 20mph? If I do I would get a full faced one but do let me know because I don’t wanna look silly
It's your face . Lol. If it were me I probably wouldn't. For 20mph and under just wear a good fitting bike helmet. Just be careful of riding over big bumps or potholes with the small scooter tires.
My commute is 6 miles one way, with the ability to charge after I get to my destination. My commute also involves one section where there is no bike lane or enough room to the side. I have to take the lane and keep up with traffic, which is 25-30MPH. I NEED power, NOT range. So it's not if you are a commuter you need range. It depends on your commute, which is highly personalized to YOU.
do you think the xiaomi 2s pro is a good electric scooter, i am having trouble buying a scooter because i’m worried that it would expload it in my house if i charge it
It's not bad but when you look for their website you can't really find it. And the one that I did find did not have any parts available. And you don't have to worry about the battery exploding in your house LOL. Yes it happens but I've had 20 scooters in my garage and no problems.
Greetings from Dublin. Good stuff - thank you. Yes indeed....
1. Determine what you actually need/want it for [local/shorthops/shopping, medium distance, long-range, commuter, off-road, final kilometer and so on), do your research and get the most suitable,
2. Purchase a reputable make/model from a reputable seller,
3. And maintain/service it properly (no shortcuts, please),
4. Use your common sense - just because you CAN go at a certain speed, it doesn't mean you HAVE TO.....
5. So find your sweet spot (personally 18-20 kph) - with proper - PROPER - planning this will get you where you want to go, safely AND you can actually enjoy (yes, enjoy) the trip,
6. Remember, we use the roads/lanes as a privIlige, not a right,
7. ALWAYS bear in mind they are NOT toys - adhere to manufacturers' instructions (especially in terms of long-term storage, charging etc.),
8. EVERY DRIVER IS OUT TO KILL YOU - maintain situational awareness - anticipation is the best braking system, imho,
9. Don't play silly buggers - sometimes the best thing to do is simply stop, dismount and walk for a bit (I ALWAYS do this at roundabouts and certain junctions where I want to turn - crossing the road at the pedestrian crossing is quite ok),
10. Wear your helmet,
11. When you get your new eScooter ("I LOVE THE SMELL OF AOVO IN THE MORNING"),, go somewhere safe and practice, practice, practice,
12. Don't get cocky - wearing safety gear does not make us invincible.
So APART from all that, enjoy - they are colossally great fun - happy travels.
Wow Dave! Hello Dublin from Florida USA! Thanks for taking the time to write that up. I appreciate it. I will see if I can pin it.😉
Do you think it can be also a good idea to get a vest like yellow or orange vest?

I am praying for your Wife's full recovery. Thank you, Sir for this most informative video.
Thank you my friend!
Aww 😢me too, my best friend just passed away from his Harley And now I discovered this Hyper Scooter thing. Crap, I’m never going to stop crying now.
Joe, not disagreeing with you. But give credit, where credit is due. It was a great, informative video.
Heavier people should get the higher range one
I appreciate that very much! I got more coming!
In terms of actual(!) range, I've found that if you take the manufacturers stated range, multiply it by 0.65 and add 1.25km (at a speed of 15-18 kph) it's surprisingly accurate, in my experience. Happy travels.
Dave thanks for the formula. I'll give it a try. I agree on the .65 for sure.
and ideal riding condition, no inclines
Oh and to avoid fires in the house. Always connect the charger in the electric wall unit and After connect to the scooter. And do not leave the scooter full charged still connected to the charger for long hours like a cell phone.
Thanks!

In preparation to ride my scooter, I had my doctor install a titanium rod in both legs and both arms. I think I'm ready to go riding now.
Lol
Think I'll have a titanium exoskeleton custom made.
and always always wear a helmet! I crashed my scooter and fortunately wore a helmet and just had bruised ribs and arms and no brain injury due to the helmet
I just had surgery to replace all my bones with titanium and inherited wolverine's healing ability, I think im ready to go riding now.
Thanks Dave! I totally agree with you! Great tip!
This should be the very FIRST thing people think about.
i buy my first scooter has 500w and peak 1100w power do u think it will be able to climb easy hills and i weight 264pounds
@@blazk1ntok350 It will struggle. If you live in a very flat area it will probably be ok, but if you have hills, I'd recommend spending a little more for a dual motor.

Thanks from California....
Thanks Joel, I appreciate it!
and that is why I bought the $200 (originally $400) scooter to try out and have been doing exhaustive research ever since.

As someone who rides their scooter to work everyday, speed is just as important as range
That's awesome!

Hey thanks for the comment! Sounds like you have figured it out! Segway is a good brand that makes solid scooters. Good choice!
Awesome info my friend!! Thank you. I just bought a NAN Robot unit per your video. Was going to buy some off brand before i watched it. Thank you
Awesome Gary! Hopefully you used my link..haha 😉
Great video! I've been wanting to get a scooter. These are good things to know.
Thanks! Go get one! They are super fun.
Glad you're ok! Yes I wear a full face motorcycle helmet when I ride. You never know and it's always good to be prepared.
Im going for the n6 for one simple reason, I weigh about 260. So performance scoots are my only option. My daughters little 250 watt gotraxx pulls me around better than expected but any hill steep enough to run water required a kick to go faster than 6 mph with my tonage.
Chris, good choice! The N6 is really nice! Thanks for watching!
Thanks so much friend!
I made a couple of these mistakes when I got my first electric scooter (for 200) and when it broke the only reason I didn’t get hurt was quick reflexes and I was able to get it replaced for free due to the place I got it from the brand (hover-1) has no support and doesn’t care. I broke the second one and after a while I jumped ship to NIU who has a 2 year warranty and sells replacement parts and such
Glad you made it out alive and went into a quality scooter! Thanks for watching my friend!
Really loved that you focused on the real pertinent topics. Excellent review.
Thanks Adrian!
Gotta enjoy life
Solid tires are soo tempting i dont ever want to deal with a flat tire/self repair it. I found a solid tire with suspension maybe it could ride well.

Thankyou for the heads up, much appreciated. Hope your Mrs. has a quick recovery. Hi from down under.
Hello friend! Thanks so much for the kind words. She is doing better but still not 100%. She's getting there! Wow I love Australia! Hello Mate!
Suspension yes, air tires I don’t like. A honeycomb solid tire is the best overall unless you like fixing flats.
Thanks for your comment but I disagree on the tires. I've had 15 or 20 scooters and have only had three flats over 2 years. I always keep mine at 50 psi or the maximum recommended and don't write over crap.
Gold, absolute GOLD! I LOVE YOU! This is what I needed. Love from Australia.
Haha thanks John! Love to Australia!
can you tell me best electric scooter to buy under 400$ like a link or something?
If it's okay if you have a seat I would suggest the iscooter i12 I just reviewed. amzn.to/4h38nGM
Does this work in wet road or rainy snowy conditions?
No unfortunately not. It's not safe and I wouldn't recommend it.
I got an Engwe Y600 for $600.00

I just received it yesterday so let’s see how it works in the months to come

No problem! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video post Hobart, and the tips on buying!!
Anytime George! Go check out some of my reviews now so you can make a good choice! 👍😉
I'm not seeing a link to asurion/amazon in the description, is it still possible to buy those warranties?
Yes sorry, the links always change so I left it out. Just choose the right one for the dollar amount of the scooter. amzn.to/4czcZlj
When I got in touch with them, they told me that I would have to buy from Amazon in order to buy the warranty, unfortunately. I ended up going with fluidfreeride, and they offer an extended protection plan that includes accidents.
Which scooter did you buy? What model is it? What was the cost? Great information! Great video! Thanks for sharing. Really appreciate it.
In this video I had the Nanrobot D6+ but since then I have had several. My favorite to date would probably be the Varla Eagle One V2 and my Apollo Phantom V3. I have videos on both of them if you want to watch. I appreciate the kind words!

Three weeks ago today I nearly died on my scooter. I had a crash at 87kms, I got a little bit of air came down incorrectly jack knifed and super man it head first into a tree.
3 days induced coma due to swelling in the brain,
Woke up 3 days later in hospital and told I had 2 fractures to my face, ruptured spleen and a lacerated kidney, and I was wearing full protective equipment.

Wow😮! both your guys' stories reminds me of getting my 1st razor manual scooter back when those little buggers were all the craze. the flashing wheels tho! Fun but you instantly felt its balancing limitations especially with the small hard rubber wheels going at fast speeds & really being made for kids size bodies. never got too daring with it. these e-bikes & scooters of today can be powerful & fast for sure & even with being safety conscious the unexpected is always there. I am in the mkt for either an e - bike or scooter w-removable seat/basket. mostly for a 10m round trip 2 day a week retirement job that includes 1 decent hilly section. your info has been really helpful especially with all the crap made under powered knockoffs with near zero customer service. hope your recoveries have gone well,
Hello Hobart, where is the link for the warranty you mentioned in the video?
Hey, I didn't post a link for it. I'm sorry. Just search on Amazon for electronics warranty and it should pop up. It's based on the dollar value of the product you're buying. I think it's asurion

Is the ECOROAD EC6 safe to buy ? Please reply quickly 🙏
No not really. Seems like a generic scooter. Look at Turboant if you are in this price range.

Hey, no problem my friend! Thanks so much for watching. I do appreciate it! I'm here if you have any more questions.
Awe that's good to hear! Thank you so much for your comment my friend. Thanks for watching!
It must also have a seat.💯%
My maximum that I can spend is $13OO.
If there is a single motor I would say rear wheel motor but I would always suggest a dual motor scooter if you can.
Is the ninebot c8 scooter a good buy
Segway is a good brand and has parts and support. The C8 is a kids scooter. So if you are a kid yes. If your an adult then no. Maybe try the ninebot max or something like that.
I’m about to buy a kugoo g2 pro electric scooter do you recommend it
Hey Hudson, yeah it's not a bad scooter. Kugoo is a pretty good brand and they have a warranty and they have lots of parts available. So that checks several boxes for me . haha. If you can afford a little more the G2 max has more power, top speed, hill climb and range. It's worth it if you can swing it. Let me know what you do!
@@HobartsReviews thanks I am selling my dirt bike so I think I can get the g2max with the money but I’m only 12 😁😁😁
Is my headlight and front light connected together? I had to but another mud cover to go over the tire. My scooter is gray, but to closes I could get was a black. The tell light doesn't fit in
It's to big andthe wire that connects to the head light hit the mud cover making noise that's very distracted.
Good job on this video... I'll soon be commuting by scooter and this was great info 👍
Thanks so much Hector! I really appreciate it! 🙏
What’s a good commuter scooter on Amazon for a 500 budget?
This is a good one. amzn.to/3PPfFCL
I want to get a chaos scooter should I get it as my first one
Sorry I’m looking to go off road in fields u got any recommendations
Just bought my first one Obarter x7 ! Can’t wait till it arrives
Awesome!
Thanks for your comments G Razz!
Hi Hobart: Regarding the brand, what do you think of "iEnyrid" 600w e-scooter with 6-month warranty from an eBay, is this a good purchase? Thank you!

Not sure. I'm not too familiar with those. Happy scooting!

Yes they are. Good quality and ok specs but you pay for it.
Excellent video. I like Segway as a brand as they have been around a long time, have tons of parts available, good warranty and best overall scooter build quality.
You are correct! They're one of the originals for sure. But there's a lot of newcomers that are making really nice scooters as well.

Yeah most of them have those options in them.
Omg! Hobart im an idiot!😝 I 4got 2 ask u if u know anything about the ehoodax hbo7 n if its any good? Appreciate any help u can provide. Thanks 😊
It's your face . Lol. If it were me I probably wouldn't. For 20mph and under just wear a good fitting bike helmet. Just be careful of riding over big bumps or potholes with the small scooter tires.

GH...good idea! I will include it in the next one! Thanks for watching!
You're right!

It's not bad but when you look for their website you can't really find it. And the one that I did find did not have any parts available. And you don't have to worry about the battery exploding in your house LOL. Yes it happens but I've had 20 scooters in my garage and no problems.
