Pretty sure the Varian charged in because the team was there after he pinged for help, no thought to the level.
For the algorithm!
Throughout the entire game, you used:
1. 73 Q's and landed 49 = 67%
2. 10 W's and landed 6 = 60%
3. 29 E's and landed (explosion) 15 = 52%
4. 8 R's and landed 4 = 50%
@7:00 - Second teamfight, you used *4 Q's,* used *1 W,* used *1 E,* used *1 R,* and landed *NONE OF THEM.* In this fight you can see your entire team jump on Gazlowe with a taunt by Varian. You, the damage dealer, are the only one who doesn't help there, instead opting to launch abilities at a Malthael side-stepping around the fight. You could have secured that kill, but you didn't, and immediately started blaming Varian. At 10:25 you *DID* follow up, and that resulted in an easy kill.
@11:13 - Your Varian charges into and taunts Fenix while he tries to TP away. Your focus is on Malthael again (with your E), but thankfully you spot it and kill the Fenix with your other abilities. You can't fault him for "not getting good taunts" when you're the one not following up with the damage, despite the previous taunt being used on a vulnerable Gazlowe just outside the fort.
@19:10 - Insulting Varian again even though he had to leave the point because Lucio had died. I agree that a couple seconds can make a big difference, but I'm doubtful the game would have fared any better if he remained on the point for those extra seconds and gotten another death because of it. You'd have likely lost sooner if he didn't leave. Malfurion has W slow, Fenix has a TP, Malth can TP if he lands his E, Hogger can E towards him, and Gazlowe can slow and stun him. It's a pretty good idea to get off the point early against that team when he has no mobility. I don't blame him one bit for that.
You, the only real damage dealer, were caught after refusing to back away @20:30 and forced into a 1v4 situation, died, and then proclaimed "my team is trying so hard to lose". Are you going to also report yourself for not being 100% efficient (at @17:22 for example), or just blame Varian and Leoric for dying and/or having a low K/D ratio as tank and off-lane?
This game was very silly at times, but it was not just Varian's (and Leoric's) fault. You all made mistakes, no need to point the finger at the others. Hit more abilities, follow up on CC, don't stress about and focus on other people's performance, and try to have fun.
You're right that I should have followed up at 7min but thats about the only timestamp you have where I should have played better. The rest of them are me following up essentially or missing skillshots(which I think is a very uneducated criticism as I'll explain). The reason I didnt was because I was already tilted my leoric entombed a fenix with e up + my varian clearly didnt know how to play tank at a master+ level.
The difference between your criticisms and mine is my criticisms are all revolving around the varian not knowing how to actually play his hero/tank role.
For example, you see the target that he taunted at 7:00, but did you see literally seconds ago at 6:58 when a malthael is literally melee range autoattacking varian, in the middle of all 5 my team, and my varian has taunt up and never clicks it? That is why I pressed Q and "missed" because any varian that knew how to play should have taunted there, easiest taunt of his life and had he taunted my q would have hit. So you see that I missed Q, but you do not see the reason why. You accuse me of randomly being focused on malthael but you don't see the reason why I was focused on him was because he was the 1st correct target in that fightand varian was the one that actually missed the opportunity and went for a different one later on which caught me off guard admittedly.
That is why I am blaming him and I would do it again every time I think its absolutely justified, but in the game it is impossible for me to explain these things that I am constantly aware of but go by too quickly for me to type paragraphs like this and explain in detail.
I dont really feel like looking through the rest of the game step by step but these are the reasons why I criticized varian, and I assure you throughout the whole game he made many mistakes like this that left me 100% sure that he does not play this hero at a master+ level. He is offroleing heavily. That being said I was tilted and in a bad mode, usually I dont mald this hard.
I never criticize anyone for missing skillshots unless they are missing like 80 or 90% of them because everyone misses skillshots, it is an inevitable part of the game and not a great indicator of anything unless they miss 80%+ like I mentioned. You miss every shot you don't go for as well so you have to throw lots of skillshots out. It does not mean you do not know how to play the hero which I think is far worse.
@@FanHOTS Morning, Fan! Firstly, my comment was rather lengthy so I am both surprised and pleased you got around to reading it and taking the time to review some parts of this video. I wanted to address that I was not trying to be overly nit-picky towards your own performance, but just enough to show you that Varian was not the only one making mistakes or missing abilities. Overall, it felt lame to hear all the criticism be tossed over unto Varian and that's where I began reviewing the video myself.
With that said, *regarding your first point:* I do see that Varian failed to Taunt Malthael at 6:58 which is completely fair and - to be clear - I don't consider *these moments* misses or mistakes by you at all (i.e. anticipating Taunt and throwing out an ability that misses because he doesn't use it). That was a very good opportunity for a free kill provided the team focused on him like they did with Gazlowe seconds afterwards. I didn't catch that moment while reviewing the video, likely being too busy watching your abilities used instead, so good call on that! I think the read there with your Q was just fine. That was a good moment for Taunt and he didn't do it.
*On your first second point:* I *did* claim you were focused on Malthael (while he was sidestepping around the fight and hesitant to get involved) when you perhaps shouldn't have been in that fight, though. To that end, I would say that it's because, had you not, you would have had all of your abilities (you had 2/3 off cooldown, including ult which is enough) to use on Gazlowe seconds later, but you didn't use any of them on him and he got away. If you were caught off-guard by the change of target, fair enough.
And again, honestly, I'm not here trying to be nit-picky, even with my mentioning of your abilites' hit-rates. I also don't bother mentioning Leoric & Lucio's performances throughout the game (Leo not getting any value with his ults; Lucio getting himself killed in malf roots with his own R or healing you over his team on point at a boss fight) and that's because you were targeting Varian much of the game despite there being plenty of times (timestamps) where you could have done better and didn't (much like everyone else). I come here for the content and I enjoy it 99% of the time; it's only when it came to blaming someone else for much of the match that these moments come to mind and I wanted to review this one since I had some time. I don't know what time this game was at and how many bad games you may have had before it, and I agree that HotS can be very annoying sometimes.
If you wind up coming back to check through the rest of the timestamps/gameplay, then awesome. If not, no worries, brother - it was just one game out of a thousand. My main point was the targeting of Varian. This isn't a super competitive game anymore, you're going to have teammates that aren't as good for many reasons. It could be that it's not their main character or a character or role they feel super confident on; they could be having an off day, in a bad mood themselves, tired, drunk, you never really know. My main point was that it shouldn't be taken too seriously to the point where they risk getting banned (via the report) because they didn't play exactly the way someone wanted them to at 100% efficiency at all times. We all make mistakes or simply suck from time to time. Better to do your best and move on to the next (and hope the next game doesn't take 1.5+ hours to queue into, LOL).
