    I had dreams of becoming a professional baseball player. After destroying my arm playing D1 baseball that became an impossibility. I went into the Marines which I am extremely proud of. Blessings come in disguises as well. What at first seemed like the end of the world opened up the door to doing something I hadn't previously considered and not a day goes by where I don't cherish the memories with my fellow Marines. Pick yourself up when life brings you to your knees you might be surprised what you find.

    That was an amazing speech. I'm 55 and looking back he is right. Some dreams have turned to regret yet on my death bed I won't be thinking about what I didn't do. My thoughts will be on the amazing family I have and wish I would have spent more time with them I will hope I instilled good morals in my children but most of I will hope that they all know how much I loved them all.

    Well, he clearly memorized everything he planned to say, and his speech is not without its cliches, but nevertheless, he still had an impressive delivery. Lots of people here are saying that he'll likely become mediocre, and I'm not sure that's likely; after all, he is val, and it takes a lot of hard work to get there, so I'm sure his fire is not yet extinguished. However, it's clear that this guy is an optimist who follows the mantra that you'll always be able to follow your dreams, and that's obviously not true. No one should be discouraged from at least attempting to follow their heart's desire, but for pete's sake, you have got to devise a Plan B because of Plan A's improbability. Bright dude, just needs to be a bit morea real.

    So many haters smh. Lovely speech, whether or not you memorized it or said it from the heart, it was inspirational. Many people on here are just hating. I am a rising Senior with so much work to do, I probably won't have time to have fun or anything. Changing schools in the middle of high school, to one with more requirements will do that to you. I liked your speech. I'm a writer. I don't write much anymore, but I still do, and I want to continue doing so because I love it. This speech made me realize that my dream to write is not dead. No one ever discouraged me, but I know that writing alone will not be enough to live off of.

    Uh So Just A Question Why Do People Think A Valedictorian Is Such A High Honor, I Mean I Guess Having The Best Grades Is Good But Honestly What Makes Them Different From Those Who Aren't They Could As Well Fail To, What Are They Least Likely To Fail Because That Is A Lie, I Knew People Who Were A Valedictorian And Have A Lowpaying Job So Why Are They So Special. I'm Just Saying This Because People In The Comments Say " Oh You'll Never Come Close To A VALEDICTORIAN "

    • @ukrd94
      @ukrd94 6 років тому +3

      Thief Ninja because getting good grades is hard for most kids much less having high enough grades to be a valedictorian.
      I graduated at the top of the class and the second best was far behind where I was.
      So he is special. We all are, but he had a great mind that can store much more than your topical high schooler.
      Most dont care enough to get A's because they want to start working right away while valedictorians might not always care but they still get through high school at the top.
      So you know they have to be different.

    Great speech but not all dreams come true snowflake. Not everyone can be an astronaut, an NFL football player, a runway model, a best seller. Sure don't give up on your dreams but more importantly...don't stay down when your dreams fail. Failure is all part of the game...how quickly you can recover from failure is the true mark of a successful person. The quicker you can get back up...the better. And don't be upset if your quest for your dream starts out by mopping floors. You have to earn your stripes.
