Blue Lagoon is located in Port Antonio and is a wildly popular travel destination for families and honeymooners. With glistening, turquoise blue waters surrounded by lush greenery, Blue Lagoon is a vision of beauty. When you first arrive, you may notice that the lagoon looks familiar to you. If you’ve seen the Brooke Shields’ movie, The Blue Lagoon, then you’ll know why. Interestingly enough, the lagoon was once called “The Blue Hole,” but with the popularity of the movie, the lagoon’s name was permanently changed to “The Blue Lagoon.” The water seems to have a bit of magic to it, as the color changes throughout the day, depending upon the way the sun shines upon the surface. When you first arrive, the water can look turquoise but you may notice that during your boat ride, the water changes to a deeper sapphire or even royal blue.

You have it the wrong way around. The lord of the flies was filmed in Portland, Jamaica back in 1990, and the Blue Lagoon with Brooke Shields was filmed in Fiji.

Barracudas live in blue lagoon so your 'no sharks ' statement is most incorrect. Right outside the lagoon the most sharks await you. I used to be in Portland at the Blue Lagoon every weekend in the 1970's . We did every ocean activity that could be done. Baby barracudas are often found in the lagoon. Spearfishing outside the lagoon you ran into sharks sometimes abandoning your string of fish to them so as to get away. There was a lovely restaurant/bar by day whiched hosted great parties at night. Was a popular spot for all the well known names of Pt Antonio.

The whole area hasn't changed since Christopher Colombus. I think it needs investment and redevelopment with hotels. The money will come back to the locals. It is a similar story with the South of the Island like Clarendon. Huge investment is needed.
