    I used to live at Urb Los Angeles, as a kid we watched the construction of the second runway at the San Juan Airport. We used to watch the F-104s take off and land and it was for us an airshow. We knew when the F-104 were ready for take off, since they made a distinctive loud howling sound when the engines were powered for take off. I remember how they used to go up with afterburners straight up and disappear in the clouds. We also used to watch the Constellation from Quisqueyana Airlines land and take off. It used to put their engines on reverse upon landing and make a unique thunderous noise. Also the Constellations on take off, always had yellow bright flames out of their engine exhaust and as kids we wondered why the engines were on fire. I remember when the Concorde visited Puerto Rico. There were thousands of people waiting for its arrival, as part of an international meeting of leaders from different nations.

    Cuando yo tenia alrededor de 12 años vivia en Isla Verde PR y los aviones militares que siempre se escuchaban y veia eran los A7 corsair!! Despegaban de 2 en 2..Al aterrizar pasaban "downwind" de la pista 8 por la playa y despues 1 a 1 viraban de regreso para aterrizar en fila...siempre los veia por el ruido tan fuerte..recuerdos de mi Bella islita!! Cuidensen unos a otros,el amor y el respeto es lo q nos hace especial!! Dios los bendiga!!

    San Juan Airport is mess! The Raptors need a home in the Caribbean & Former Ramey AFB is the perfect place!

      To expensive of a plane to be used to protect so few U.S assets. F-15Cs do just fine.

    • @gideon33
      @gideon33 3 місяці тому

      @@TracyKimbal1973 I disagree. Strategically, it still holds immense value, perhaps even more today. Former Ramey AFB is a midway point (Reload), and unless they’ve been upgraded with the new “stealthy” external fuel tanks, the Raptor’s limited range before refuel is a big part of the operational cost!

      @@gideon33 So pull them from where?

    • @gideon33
      @gideon33 3 місяці тому

      @@TracyKimbal1973 From nowhere, for now…from Florida, in particular if the scenario calls for it. But, it’s almost certain future conflicts will dictate the “where & the when.” I’m just saying Former Ramey AFB is still the best…strategic & economically feasible as a FOB in case Maduro looks for trouble with his neighbors.

    • @TracyKimbal1973
      @TracyKimbal1973 3 місяці тому +1

      @@gideon33 I disagree with the need for F-22s in Puerto Rico. Kadena AFB in Okinawa is far more important right now to have a presence near Taiwan to southwest. Again F-15Cs could take care of any threat in the Puerto Rico region easily.
