Yo Mick,I saw it when it was relatively fresh,I was in grade school & I would sneak(on a wood panel floor no less) to the hallway near the living room lay on my tummy lean on my elbows & watch "The Midnight Speacial" but I also cajoled my way to watch Led Zepplin " Live at Royal Albert Hall" "1970," Live at Earl's Court"1975, & " Live At Knebworth"1979 on the Late, late Show at 11:30pm❤🎉😮😊🎉
@@kathybwell My band was AXIS - this was in Florida and the rock festival took place at Williston, FL - about 1/2 hour north of Gainesville, FL where U of FL is.
@@kathybwell ❤️❤️ I don't know about you, but I love hearing about all these connections from our past! Such great music and festivals back in the day🥰 and I've been to Florida on vacation but am from Southern Ontario, hi from 🇨🇦!!
🌸 so a while back I saw another reaction of this song and it was so cool because I was looking in the comments, and there was a comment that said " the guy on the drums is my grandpa." 😊
A lot of Guardians was amazing, a lot was kind of stupid, but the music was excellent. But you can't make superhero movies without at least a spoonful of stupid
L33: Redbone drummer Pete DePoe was known for creating the “King Kong” drum beat! Lolly & Pat Vegas were a duo in the 60s who sang Surf/Pop songs. They were great - way before their ‘native’ themed band. Redbone was great - but the brothers, Pat & Lolly both had LONG & varied music career.
I have been waiting for you to react to this song. Redbone was the first Native American rock band, formed in California in 1969 by brothers Pat and Lolly Vegas. I remember watching this live back in the day! Check out their song “The Witch Queen of New Orleans”.
This song has been on many commercials and hopefully it has brought some much deserved $$ to these guys. The song called "Maggie" is a personal favorite that's far less played. Even if you don't listen to it on an episode you definitely need to give it a listen.
Had no idea these guys were American Indians until I was an adult. That was before the Internet, so you just knew what you heard on the radio. And I’ve watched this performance on UA-cam like 1 million times. Since then.😊 I just assumed it was R&B. Which it is. Lol.
The Drummer in the video is Pete"the Pole" Depo, check out "Chant:13th Hour" & you'll get the full version of the Medley/Pow-Wow singing/Dancing,in Pow-Wow competition what you saw was "Fancy Dance" back in the 1800's a plains Princess bent Tin Can Lids into conacal shaped bells & started " Jingle Dress" for young Women
This song on the Midnight Special is exaclty why you have to see them perform "Maggie" from the very same performance and see their musicianship in it's full glory:) Please don't sleep on it!
I loved it then and still love it now. Reservation Dogs did a cool thing with this song ( an excellent indigenous show on Hulu that is worth watching, native or not).
Thanks, L33 - this LIVE version was an eye-opener.. they surprised the audience and producers by featuring their Native American heritage ... . I knew you would know the song... appreciate your reaction... (p.s. if you have not yet, please listen to Los Lonely Boys.. a great start would be "How Far is Heaven"... ua-cam.com/video/wvkzoqQ5Oak/v-deo.html)
Love Redbone and their sound. Next, Witch Queen Of New Orleans. Thank you Gail
I saw this video live on the television way back when I was in high school.

I was in the Army, watching this in a house we rented off base - lots of parties there. The Seventies was fun.
Remember this coming on television and the dance was a surprise but loved it as a statement as well as its beauty. They made a society pay attention
This song was used in one of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. Possibly where you heard it.
Actually got to open for them at a rock festival in 1972.
So cool! What was the name of your band?

Yes. The audio is more important than the visual.
I've always loved this song even as a child, it just feels good. Great reaction Lee.
Cool! I thought you had done this. Lol. Guess not. Great groove my from my American Ninjas!!! So Awesome 😎💯
🎶🎶🎵🎶🔥🔥🔥💃🕺🔥☮️🕊️
Lee, you might remember this song from one of The Guardians of the Galaxy movies. Another great pick Gail.❤
This is a great song. ❤Can't wait to watch the reaction and the premier

Actual soulful R & B with guitars!!! This was the song that got them noticed. High school days for me. We played this in my last cover band.
This is my favorite version of this great song. Midnight Special was live. No lip synching there.
The moment people found out their fave band was Aboriginal. Brilliant.
❤❤ awesome Gail and Lee! I didn't realize back in the day, this was native American, just loved it!
Cant lie love those black boots!! 💕❤️💕🥰
Woohoo. This was fabulous! I felt very happy after watching it❤
Love this one!
🌸 good morning, my friend!

I love the vocals in this so much 😮 ill have to listen to this again. I have never seen this performance.
2018 a French telecommunications company had the *sweetest* ad with this song❤All dads should watch it.
You are so right. Your commentary is so on the money ...
Fun song

Great sing-a-long tune from the era-- lifted spirits!!
I love the dance in the beginning!
Joe Biden should free Leonard Peltier.
his he native American !
❤😮❤👍but why revoke 39 death row inmates and do nothing about Peltier??
@marthagavey9321 because 2 Feds were killed
@@msfoodiediva❤️❤️ohhh, ok🙄😢
It's been so long...hell yes he should be free
The guitar caught my attention first then the song, loved it since I was a kid I was 8 yrs old
They've got a bucketload of cool songs.
Great pick, Gail. Loved Midnight Special back in the day. Great reaction L33. Blessings all.

like the studio version better, but this aint bad

Discrepancies in audio/video synch could come from transferring old tape to digital for upload.
Recording gifted to boy by dying mom in Guardians of Galaxy story line.
The studio version is far better, because it features the proper intro and the electric sitar, which is vital.
I think it's human nature, unfortunately.
