Farming life can be tough at times but darn it, I wish my family kept the farm and I grew up there lol. I grew up in the 'burbs and live in the city but I'd happily give it up for farm life. Its all workin' with the hands and with nature. Sadly, my health would not permit it now as I have aged like a block of cheese in the shed lol
Nice to see you again. You'd wonder why they didn't make that access hole when they built the machine. You cut it right on the button. Good video. Pax.
The Farmer's Son: A little tip, make a habit of rounding off square/ rectangle cuts, lessens chance of cracks forming. Drilling holes on corners before cutting is the easiest way to have rounded corners.
Thanks for sharing the details Lukas - a lot of work for a couple of hoses. The dealer must have a way to get them off without punching holes in structural members?!? Blessings!
Wouldn’t you think after all the time Bobcat has been building those machines they would have made it easier to make access to the different areas of their equipment so it can be serviced, really makes you wonder what the manufacturer was thinking of .
@@TheFarmersSon. I was a Chevy mechanic back in the 80’s. I had to replace a hydraulic steering rack. The first time took me 8 hours. Another mechanic told me to use a “crows foot” wrench. It is basically just the head of a crescent wrench with a square hole for an extension where the shaft would be. Imagine this; cut off the head of a crescent wrench leaving an inch of the neck. Drill a square3/8” or 1/2” hole in the 1 inch neck (I know you can’t drill square holes, this is an analogy) and you’ve got a crows foot wrench. Just Google “crows foot wrench. After I got a crows foot for that steering rack and experience removing them I could do it in 45 minutes. BTW I really enjoy watching your channel about farming.👍(Actually there is a drill mechanism that can drill a square hole)
I hope whoever makes this skidsteer looks at this video and sees how dang stupid the design is for ease of maintenance. Lucas having to cut an access hole says it all
Nice to see a young fellow become a man on the farm !! No video games out in the field for this young man ❤
Wow your voice is getting deeper 😮❤😊
Good video. Especially for anyone who thought being a farmer was easy. The work literally never stops.

Hearing & eye protection 😊
There's no reason they can't but access doors on those side panels to make it easier for hose replacement or cylinder replacement
This reminds me of the Red Green show. If the women don't find you handsome, at least they will find you handy!
Really Bobcat? Design equipment you have to cut into for maintenance?
I’m thinking a larger panel can be removed but maybe not?
Subscribed. Loving ya work, young fella!
To loosen always counter clock wise.
Thanks for sharing the details Lukas - a lot of work for a couple of hoses. The dealer must have a way to get them off without punching holes in structural members?!? Blessings!
Yeah I’m sure they do but we don’t have those tools
Great video young man. I haven't seen one ugly farm boy there all good looking 😂😂 what's that about lol.
First time watching yoir videos ,like it dude I'm California young bloods like wouldn't even know how!!
Wouldn’t you think after all the time Bobcat has been building those machines they would have made it easier to make access to the different areas of their equipment so it can be serviced, really makes you wonder what the manufacturer was thinking of .
Skilled Bobcat mechanics do not have to cut.
Great video! Why the heck didn't the manufacturer put an access plate there, so you wouldn't have to cut the body?!
Ugly
Hoses are usually simple to install, as long as you're able to access them!😂
You are the best I support you
Great job man!
Good work 🇦🇺
Lovely to watch
Good job buddy
Super
Great job!!
Keep up the good work man!
That's hard and dirty work. Now on to another job. That's a Farmers life!
❤very good video ❤
Would it help if you spaysome wd 40on the bolts before and after ti lossen them
That Vascularity
Basin wrench didn’t work?
Don’t have one of those
@@TheFarmersSon. it’s a great tool, well worth the $20 at home depot. Not sure if it would have worked for your problem, though.
Gloves please
How many acres do y’all farm if I can ask?
Around 600
@@TheFarmersSon. wow! That’s awesome..
Are you a Wisconsinite ? Noticed one of your shirts had Wisconsin on it . If so what county ? This from a wisconsin resident myself .
Yup, Pepin Wisconsin
Read the title as putting new hoses on the kids steer and was totally confused for second.
'skidsteer'
So that's what they call it.
Back in my day, we had something too.
It was called 'A Shovel'
You guys are styling.
Freaking awesome vid bro
How did you get your arms damn
Wax
IDea of an OF name....Mr Handy Milker!
I don't know if your in high school or not but if you are - do you plan on continuing farming?
Yes I’m in highschool and yeah I plan to buy the family farm from my parents in the future
I feel like this procedure did not come from the Bobcat’s service manual…
lol no
Wow. I've never someone have to cut a hole in the metal just to change out some hydraulic hoses. Wonder if there is an easier way?
This was the easiest way dad said!
@@TheFarmersSon. Good to know. Not that it is wrong but what do you do with the hole so it doesn't get filled with dirt and mud?
@@utsouthpaw2013 just leave it as it is, can’t really do anything about it yk?
Would a crows foot and extension have worked instead of cutting through the side.
Not always, bobcat should’ve put an access panel in from the manufacturer
Not sure what that is

Dude you are radical ,I think it would of been much easier to take off the cover /😮
U guys know u stuff
I want to work with you
There's not enough of just YOU...
See 3:08 struggling with a wrench. Id ike to see more too.
This trick I use for loosening bolts it’s lefty loosey righty tighty
we know loosey
There has to be another way of replacing the hoses. If that's the only way, then that was poor engineering on Bobcat's part.
Please wear safety goggles when cutting something
And position yourself in such a way that a snagged or runaway tool goes away from your body.
next Video pls?
Soon yeah
What the heck, who builds a machine that one can't get semi easy access to a part or hose?
Built cheaply, dropped its guts into the frame at the factory fully assembled with no thought for the end user
All skidsteers are hard to work on since it’s a lot of things that need to go in a small area
He who wants you to take it in!
@@TheFarmersSon. you like that singlet don't you. Haha. I was half expecting it to come off at one point when you were busting yourself.
Every auto manufacturer
Why'd you have to cut that hole? You couldn't get to those hoses another way? Looks like a design flaw to me jus sayin.
Well this was the easiest way to
my couis us a farm
I hope whoever makes this skidsteer looks at this video and sees how dang stupid the design is for ease of maintenance. Lucas having to cut an access hole says it all
They could had a simple removable plate there for easy access.
where are your work boots ???????? your sliding all over the place !!!!!
I should be wearing them but it was hot that day and my feet sweat really bad
Never buy a bobcat
Why they are the best
Don't those shirts come with sleeves? Lol jk
