Definitely because they have higher voices. Many accompaniment parts to any song are usually pretty mid-range, which tenors can sing. Some men can even sing as high as women or higher (countertenors). This is why all-male a cappella groups are more popular than all-female.
For, the bass parts it's understandable Mary Claire Reynolds true (although there are women with low voices as well). However if you search for 'Local Vocal - 90's acapella medley mix' for example, you could still see women doing rhythmic beats with their mouth. And if you watch the movie 'Pitch Perfect' the acapella pieces are all done by an all-female group.
True as well! Unfortunately, even the women who can sing down there where bass parts usually lie aren't too resonant. I wish we could be all "Girl Power!" and fill out the sound, but in general it's just far more common for men to sing high enough to cover "female" parts than the other way around.

No, I never claimed this was live, in fact I've got more knowledge on how videos like these are made than you might think. I am well aware that the tracks are pre recorded, and fine tuned. But it is only fine tuned. They may have used autotune to fine tune it, but there is no clear overdose of autotune like you have said there is.
