I recently discovered elf's Halo Glow powder. I'm 43 with dry skin and it's the best powder I've ever tried. It doesn't have any glitter, just the most beautiful soft glow that is non drying. Great video, btw!
Dee I agree this is a good choice....its actually what I keep in my “on the go / i need a touch up” case. I keep the more affordable cosmetics in this bag because it takes so much abuse and I dont cry as long if it gets misplaced or broken).
I’ve never used finishing powder. Didn’t think I should because I’m 48 with textured combo mature skin. Thanks to this video I’m going to purchase a finishing powder 🤗
Thanks for making the between setting and finishing powders it's definitely very confusing. I use hourglass ambient lighting powder as my finishing powder. I also have the guerlain meteorites.
I've just received my order of Hourglass ambient powder this morning. Read great reviews. Excited to try it. I have dryer skin,a liitle oily on sides of nose. Hoping it works for me. I use IT cc cream and it looks too glowy alone. Liked Stephanie's video!
Have you tried the Thrive Causemetics translucent powder? Soooo good. Blurs my pores immediately. Also the Makeup Forever new finishing powder seals the deal!! Flawless.
Enjoyed your videos on both finishing and setting powders! Now I know - I now just have to check my stock and see what I have and now begin using it correctly. Thank you
I'm oily skin and my favorite blurring finishing powders that make my skin look filtered using them doing the buffing technique.....are sephora micro smooth so amazing and smoothing Charlotte tilbury airbrush powder makeup looks Photoshop also the new pat McGrath blurring powder can't put it down it's very blurring and flawless on skin I have 3 back ups so beautiful
One of the only glow-ISH setting powders that I can use under my eyes is the elf halo glow setting powder that is so beautiful to finish up it no glitter or recognizable sparkle and so affordable
I love the By Terry. It is very finely ground and goes on like a dream. After you talked about Mac I think I may have that tucked away somewhere so now I have to check. Thanks 🙏
I use the Flower Beauty Light Illusion Power and it’s SOOO good!! I have oily skin (like, sweat while I’m putting makeup on oily), and it just looks so good.
Stephanie, I love the MAC powder and also use the By Terry in apricot for finishing. They are both wonderful. Thanks for your great descriptions of all these powders!
Becky C. Question - I really want to try the Mac powder - does it blur pores at all? I’d like one to blur pores. I’m interested in that one, hourglass or By Terry.;)
Thank you so much for this video - so incredibly helpful! The detailed comparisons of the various options is just invaluable for folks looking for the perfect product for a particular function. Please keep up the good work!
So many good options here Stephanie. I love the CT, the Hourglass and the Maybelline. I’ve never tried MAC or NYX (and I love NYX brand). Will have to give them a try after I use up my current stash lol. Enjoy your Sunday 😍
I have the Hourglass 4 palette and love Diffused Light. It honestly does make a huge difference. Before I had that I used Milani’s Prep Set Glow Illuminating Transparent Powder, which’s lot of people compare to the Hourglass powders. I have admit, it’s lovely as well and of you can’t or don’t or want to pay a lot is a great option. I have dry skin, and Terry’s Hyaluronic Powder works beautifully for me. Thanks for the great info and recommendations, chickadee🍃🌸
I had all but 1 of your setting powders, I have the majority of these finishing powders too. Think I have a problem?? Oily mature skin here so always looking!! You raved about the By Terry in both videos so I will have to break it out and give it another whirl. Agree on the Mac, have loved that for years!
Omg Stephanie. You are killing it with the content lately. I have so many vids of yours in my recommended purchase playlist at the mo. My poor, poor wallet 🤪 Too bad I just did a big splurge for my impending birthday and will have to wait, but at least I don't need to surf youtube to hear anyone elses recommendations, as they are all here! Trust and respect all your makeup top pics 100%, fingers crossed they work out for me! 😊😘
Hello Stephanie ! Love the Mac, Covergirl and Hourglass for finishing powder but my favorite finishing powder is Guerlain Meteorites . Thank you for this video ! 🌸
Hi Stephanie, I was so happy to see that you se MAC finishing powder, and that you use it often. I have the same skintone as you do , I am a dedicated Mac girl, have been using Mac since its birth in 1984 in Toronto, Canada where I live. I have used other products over the years but Always go back to Mac, This company has stood the test of time for products., Love them! I'm just disappointed no one mentions Mac anymore. look forward to your next video!
I was excited to see your #1 fav is mine too! I love MAC MSF Natural In Medium. Today (Sunday 15th) it’s 50% off at Ulta so I ordered a couple backups. I have wanted to like the CT airbrush powder, I’ve bought and tried it twice but it doesn’t do anything special for me, even if I use all CT products under it. Oh well the MAC is so great so I’m still happy 😃
I’m so enjoying these videos. We don’t have to wait until the end of the year favorites. I use Mac everyday also. Although you and I are the same exact shade and someone at Mac sold me light plus. When I finish it I’ll grab the med plus.
you taught me to add finishing powder at the end. i love the results. thank you. i like using Charolette Tilbury finishing powder and no 7 lift and luminate powder. . what a difference.
I've watched this to find out the options and which to pick between Charlot and Hour Glass, never had any luck with MAC products although i had me one this finishing powder from MAC long time ago and it did not speak to at all. But today you have me again. will go back and give it try. ☺️
Thanks for sharing this. Very informative. Nice eyeshadow you are wearing on this video. Hoping for a video tutorial on how you did it perfectly. Thanks a lot!
For my 51 year old skin, you can pry my it cosmetics bye bye pores finishing powder from my cold, dead hands! I have Angie at Hot and Flashy to thank for that. Either the loose or pressed, love both,
Thank you Stephanie! I didn't know Glossier had finishing powder; I thought they only had cream type products. Silly me! I have the Laura Mercier CandleGlow in my Sephora cart; going to be my first purchase. Fingers crossed. Have a great weekend!🌞
This was a great video, I never understood the differences between regular & finishing powder. The MAC Mineralized Powder has been sitting unopened for at least 6 months because I wasn’t sure how or when to use it. I like Lancome, Laura Mercier & the Hourglass finishing powder.
Another great video. I am so surprised you didn't mention the Hourglass Veil or the Niiki Joy powders as well. I know you have raved about them in the past. Thank you!
Nikkia Joy is in my setting powder video. Did you miss that video? I also set with it in the demo during my how to video. The hourglass doesn’t cut shine enough for me. 😘
@@StephanieMarie, thanks. I have to watch that video again. I love your videos. You are quite articulate and full of great information. You are also beautiful! Aloha.
It is somehow amazing to see, I´ve been watching for a several days now, WHATS IN MY PRO MUA Makeup KIT, various Makeup Artists from all over the world actually as I speak several languages....and the ONE thing in common of all of them is MAC MINERALIZED SKIN FINISH....it speaks for itself! Some of them may have the CT, FENTY´s, IT Cosmetics....but the most ALL USE MAC....amazing!
I have extremely oily skin but my under eyes aren't as oily, they still are just not as much. I also have deep and fine lines under my eyes. When I set my under eye concealer with powders like the Hour Glass doesn't accentuate my lines for the first 2 or 3 hours and then my concealer creases.
Ms Parker I have a mini Charlotte Tillbury that seems to work ok, I am just over critical of my under eye . I will try some of my others and keep you informed 🌸
Okay so I never put on finishing powder but I fished out my hourglass dim light powder and put it on after my makeup and my face looks gorgeous so wow. 😁 thank you for the wonderful tips.
Oh thank you. I was wondering if I was medium or medium plus. I tend to like to make my face lighter because of my neck color but I need a yellow undertone. I thought the med + would darken my skin but I wear the same foundation as you for the most part. I’m m a bit greener.
I love and have pretty much every Hourglass palette made but my favorite finishing powder is the one in the marbled palette, called Surreal Effect I believe. I’m almost out of it though and wonder which one compares to it and gives basically the same look.
The Hourglass powders are my number 1 for finishing. I look for more radiance in a finishing powder because I just don’t produce any oil throughout the day to make my own glow. I’m not dry, I guess you could say I’m just normal. That’s only been for the past year or so though, before that I was quite oily. I noticed when I turned 39 my skin totally changed and I had to go buy new complexion products because the mattifying products I had no longer worked. Has that happened to anyone else?
My skin went from Oily to normal around 35 and became officially dry at 40. And now I need to layer on facial oils and heavy moisturizers for it to feel good.
I went from combo oily to more combo dry at 40, but i also have a low functioning thyroid, so all my skin, including my scalp get dry and itchy as. Working on adding some better skincare as per recommendations from a recent video of Steph's! 👍
Thank you for this!! I am in my later 50's and i have normal to dry skin and i just ordered the Hourglass Ambient light finishing powder which hasn't arrived yet. Which setting & finishing powder do you think is best for mature, fair, pink tone complexion that's best for dry skin? I need to know the best setting powder for under eyes that wont settle into fine lines. I hate when my shimmery highlighter gets too close to my under eye area because it does accentuate lines. I am looking for a holy grail setting & finishing powder for mature women. 💖
I loved this so much Stephanie! Passionate about finishing powders! Have you tried the flower? I love that one too! I’m gonna try several of these! The wander for sure! Also love the Hourglasses and fit me!! Beautiful! Happy Sunday lovely!
Thanks for another great product guide! What compact powder could I use for touch up during the day, that works with dry skin and fine lines? Charlotte Tilbury powder does not purchase in Sweden ;)
Lots of good options to try. Now to decide which one! I am interested in trying By Terry but the Mac is easier to get so I may try that one first. I did try setting my under eyes with setting powder on a sponge but it looked too drying on my under eyes. They are dry with plenty of wrinkles. I am 50. I really struggle with them. I have been debating out getting some filler to help smooth things out.
Jen P. I don’t think that it is as bad that you have to get fillers, hehe. I have the By Terry but I think that I have been using to much, will try to use just a tiny amount in the future.
Hi Stephanie, Thank you for mentioning the "Dreaded" Bismuth Oxycloride. I have been allergic to this ever since I can remember. Most of the powders now have it in them, Hourglass being just one. I always have worn Mac blush so when the new Glow Play came out I of course bought one.....BIG Mistake. After a couple days I had lumps and bumps all over my cheeks, when I looked in the ingredients I couldn't believe the BO was not only in the blush but in the MIDDLE of ingredients! Usually it's towards the end. I never hear anyone else talking about how they are effected by it like I am. There are sooooo many things that I wish I could wear and not able to. Thanks for mentioning it! xxoo
Hi Stephanie, My skin tone is very similar to yours maybe a tad more dark. I usually use foundations warmer than yours and a tad deeper. The By Terry tinted powders; have you tried the Rosy Light #1? Do you think warm skin tones can use pink tinted powders or should we stick to Apricot? FYI - I look good in pink makeup. Thanks and stay safe.
Hello Beauty! I also think that the Mac powder is the best always.... my only critical is that it oxidize so quick. any tip on that? or a dupe that don't oxidize ? Please any tip?
Hi . I have never used finishing powder but want to try . However I have worked hard on my skin and like my glow! I get a little too shiny in my forehead . I have just a bit of olive in my skin . I have a special event coming up and want to look good in pictures . I am 64 . Any suggestions for blurring but still keeping the glow ?
Just subscribed to your channel! Thank you so much for all of the helpful info re powders. I plan on trying a finishing powder & setting powder ASAP. I have dry skin and 43yr old have never set or finished my makeup. Do you find that MAC and Hourglass blur pores at all??? Thanks !!!
Hi I have the oily skin in the t-zone, I used Laura Mercier translucent that does not set my lamcome foundation? I see you like the charlottle tillbury? which one should I get for Day and Night?
I recently discovered elf's Halo Glow powder. I'm 43 with dry skin and it's the best powder I've ever tried. It doesn't have any glitter, just the most beautiful soft glow that is non drying. Great video, btw!
for all over or just under eyes?
I’ve heard that’s amazing too !
I don't like it. It falls so much, and it dries my skin.
You have helped me greatly with skin care and makeup choices. THANK YOU
I’m running low on my Mac mineralize, too. Agree that it’s a big hitter go to for a perfect finish!
You really need to try No 7 Lift & Luminate Pressed Powder. I use it for setting and finishing and it's beautiful. Blurs to perfection!

I love this powder too! I am combo skin, leaning more dry during winter
Dee I just returned the CT.. I had been using the No 7 L&L. I bought the CT and was not as impressed. I have really dry skin.
LisaD GingerSnaps normal / to dry (undereye)
I have been looking for a finishing powder and one thAT ACTUALLY WORKS Especially on mature skin ! Love you. Always so helpful. Really. The best
The No 7 Lift and Luminate is a Finishing powder.
I love this finish but they have a horrible color selection! I tanned a little and cannot deal with the 3 options they give us
I’ve never used finishing powder. Didn’t think I should because I’m 48 with textured combo mature skin. Thanks to this video I’m going to purchase a finishing powder 🤗
That Laura Mercier powder is the best. Also like the Hourglass ones.

That’s in my setting powder video but could definitely work for finishing as well since it’s basically a Charlotte Tilbury dupe!
Where can I find it?
Joanie Regalado Walmart or online at flowerbeauty.com!
My new favorite finishing powder is Merle Norman!! It’s amazing!! ❤️
I really like using CT, By Terry, Chantecaille Blur powder for finishing powders.
I love your eye makeup, the finishing powders are all fantastic. Have a wonderful Woman's Day!! xx

Deena does it blur pores ? I’m thinking of buying the Mac or Hourglass one! The hourglass blush and Mac blushes are amazing.
Nicole Purdy i blv it does. I do not have a pre issue as much as a wrinkle issue though. It certainly makes your face look naturally airbrushed.
Can you review the new Laura Mercier pressed luminous powder? Also an update on finishing powder? Thank you

Just subscribed to your channel! Thank you so much for all of the helpful info re powders. I plan on trying a finishing powder & setting powder ASAP. I have dry skin and 43yr old have never set or finished my makeup. Do you find that MAC and Hourglass blur pores at all??? Thanks !!!
Yes they do!! They blur and airbrush the skin beautifully! Thank you for subscribing! 😘
Thank you for sharing. I will give a few of these powers a try. xoxo roseingeorgia
We have sun in Georgia today! 🤗
Thanks for another good content video and suggestions
Can I get your opinion on 2 other finishing powders please? 1. Milani Prep Set & Glow 2. Clinique Uplighting Illuminating Powder. Thank you.
I haven’t tried those yet 😘
Have you tried the Ilia Soft Focus Finishing powder ? I'm curious what you would think - maybe you have mentioned before and I missed it
I haven’t!
Stephanie, have you tried the ilia powder?
Koh Ken Do is the best for over 50. Non drying, slight sparkle, NOT glitter, moveable and moisturizing. Not cakey and not drying
Hi I have the oily skin in the t-zone, I used Laura Mercier translucent that does not set my lamcome foundation? I see you like the charlottle tillbury? which one should I get for Day and Night?
Hi Stephanie, What shade do you wear in the NYX no filter powder?
Did I hear you say the NYX was the closest to MAC? Any dupe for the MAC? Thanks you're the best!
It's pretty close yes. :)
Was the NYX one going to be compared to the Mac one? You hinted at it but didn't make the connection. Thx.
What is the dupe for the Charlotte Tilbury? thanks 😊
I talk about a couple in the linked setting powder video: Flower is one.
