- Welcome to the Ernie Ball String Alloy Series. Where we're breaking down everything you need to know about our world-class strings, their different alloys, and what makes them sound unique.
In this video, we're featuring our Earthwood 80/20 Bronze acoustic guitar strings in the Light (11-52) gauge. Our Earthwood 80/20 Bronze strings are made from 80% copper, and 20% zinc wire wrapped around hex-shaped tin plated steel core wire, this is the most popular type of acoustic guitar string. They provide a crisp, ringing sound with excellent projection.

Why is it called a steel guitar when 90% of acoustic guitars use bronze strings .
It's called an acoustic guitar
Its an alloy. Phosphor, bronze, nickel and all sorts of other metals can be in guitar strings. When people say steel strings its usually to differentiate what type of guitar. Steel vs classical= metal strings of whatever composition vs nylon or gut strings
The unwound strings are made of steel, and the wound strings have a steel core.
@@theshapeexistsPerfect answer dude, well said👍🏻
The strings all have a steel core. The high e and b and sometimes g are made of just plain steel. The bass strings are steel wound in whatever alloy you choose.
