- So in this video I mix up my before and after torque numbers. Long story short the stock truck started with 281 LBS-ft and with the Brian Tooley Truck Norris Cam AND tuning is made 360 LBS-ft. That’s a HUGE improvement. Stock exhaust manifold, stock intake ect… no other mods.

The peak pork is what matters
It does sound like its oinking
Gonna make a shit of that peak pork copyright ©️
I’m always at peak pork!!!!
All the piggy noises at idle from the cam you get excited and need to know your Peak Pork is....
Sounds good boss. Really wanting to go with this cam. Really new to hp tuners tho. What are you tweeking in the tune? Would like to see what your changes are.
Same as the beginning of time. Fuel and ignition timing. Fuel by changing commanded injector pulsewidth and timing is just advancing or retarding when the coil turns off and sends the spark.
Nice gains, but it was super interesting finally seeing someone post some
Tuning stuff with it also
Can't wait to see that when you run that timing at 27 to 29 degrees it should carrier more grunt for sure 😊
I’ve settled on the truck Norris for my 5.3. Thanks for the video.
Great video! I'm building my 6.0 LQ9 currently, it's going in my 64 impala ss and I'm hearing Great things about this cam. Thank you for your video
Same cam last week, springs , Melling pump and headers on the 180,000 mile LY6. 2500HD 8 ft bed . Stock TC isnt right. Dyno at the wheels : 368 TQ. 265 stock .Got for towing. It is what they say it is guys.... badass.I changed from the smaller magnaflow.. went to a larger magnaflow... still loud. I will now add the small straight flow magnaflow into the pipes. Too much drone for towing loads at highway speed for 6 hours. Just me.
My trans used to do that until I put the vette servo in shifts much cleaner now
I sure wish I could get a tune sent to me on a Zip drive. I have headers and 3” exhaust
I think when you get to a certain point in your build that's when you get the converter. I run a cam motion 221/226 .600" lift cam in my rcsb 5.3 and it hauled off the line with a stock converter. Eventually I put a 3000 stall and with the proper tuning it drives great and flys. Good job on your tuning bro, very thorough. I have a btr in my other truck and it runs good too. The cam motion has the quietest valve train I've ever heard in an ls motor. I'll say that much
4l60E or 4l80?
i just a truck noriss cam in a lc9 5.3 447 flb that things got to be wrong like way wrong im guessing
I wish you would of shown where you was adding a little bit more fuel between each pull :(
I want to do a cam swap but I’m worried about getting it tuned
Williams Larry Taylor Michael Lopez Daniel
Nice job. Seems a 2500-3k stall would be perfect if you wanted to spend the extra money
It only has 220deg of duration. It doesn't need a higher stall any more than a stock cam would.
I have a 2000 LM7 with stage 4 BTR cam, headers, and converter. Your right.. from a dig it’s a dog off the line. Mid rpm to redline it pulls great. Not sure I would recommend stage 4 BTR. It sacrifices too much torque low range rpm.
Gears & converter should be paired with trucks cam. It’s a 5.3 so it absolutely needs a high stall.
Hey Bo, I have a 2015 Silverado with a 6.0L. The roller lifters are self destructing because of worn lifter trays. Right now, I am inspecting the lower end and fishing out needles, etc. I have purchased a Truck Norris cam, push rods, valve springs and will do the VVT delete, etc. I need to work on programming which is a new technical area for me. I see you use HP tuners. Can I email you for advice on how to get started or perhaps you have a program that will get me started which tunes it for 87 gasoline and a loping idle? This is so I can drive the truck and wear in the cam. From this point, I would tune it later for performance. Chris
You can check out the HP/Tuners forum for more information about what you are looking for, I think that would help you with a lot of questions
Nice work . Did you up your shift pressures yet ? I did 2 magnaflow 21119 on my Sierra with Long tubes and high flow cats ! The only drone I get is bellow 1800. Basicly country roads at 80km she has a bit a drone . I posted a vid on my channel .
Your shifts seem a bit lazy !
BTR Truck Norris Cam (20-90mph) Pull ~ Cam Only
ua-cam.com/video/4Z91J3ycWU0/v-deo.html
Check out the new vid, this is with shift pressures upped a bit. MUCH better
I wanted to go with this cam but went with sloppy Stage 2.
Hey buddy didnt you used to drive a Trans am, in Glendale Ca.?
Let us know how bad fuel mileage is thinking bout doing an ls1 swap with the Norris cam
Can you tune out the rough idle?? A pro stock idles better than that.
Truck Norris cam is a low LSA. You can raise idle rpm and help smooth it out some but it won’t be as smooth as like a 114 and up LSA
You need to put a corvette servo in your trans…you’re going to fry your clutches and band in your trans if you don’t
I have a 2014 gmc 2500 6.0 with the LS3 823 heads & 6L90E transmission & 411 gears just got the truck Norris cam with matching LS6 springs I am hoping that it will be as good as it did for you? Also I am getting the HP tuner and lap top so I can play with it tunning it myself so I hope it goes well for me
Jones Ronald Martin Jason Williams William
I needed this video... I have a silver 99 gmc 5.3 stepside I've been redoing. Looking for a cam setup and your hitting it on the nose. Appreciate the content 👌 🙏
Wonder what it would do in a 5.7ls1
I have a 2017 3500 Express 6.0 van in the shop right now.
Getting a truck Norris cam
Exhaust. Torque converter.
Etc .etc. already have a k&n on it. I can't wait for the big black van to be back on the road.
I just got this cam its sitting on my bench. Im going to put in my Trailblazer SS.
What kind of horsepower/torque will a BTR truck Norris came and ported 706 heads, TBSS intake, do on a LM7 engine? At the wheels do you guys think?
Not much more. That cam is designed to drop in stock motor. Rest if the motor will limit it (fuel injector size, tune) but many a video where AFR heads, 6.0l, stoker kits etc the cam is limiting the extra UNTIL you add boost or nito. The purpose of the cam is sound and power for stockish engines.
Watch Richard Holdener dyno videos, he’s tested multiple combinations.
I had a 2002 short bed regular cab 5.3 with a LS1 camshaft and milled LS1 heads with the stock 4L60E trans and 3.42 gears and tuned it ran much better from 3500rpm up than the truck cam with truck heads so l can imagine this truck Norris cam would be even better yet in the upper rpm range the LS1 cam pulled strong to 6200rpm l would imagine this truck Norris cam would pull to 6500-6600rpm
Do you think my 4l60 will handle the truck Norris cam?
I think so he has a stock 4l60e
Is this cam compatible with stock Stall
I just want to know how the power brakes are working?
Bro this truck Norris cam. Vs the summit racing 450 hp 420 tq. Create engine. What do you think?
Mine is showing 405ft pounds delivered. 5.3 truck Norris cam, long tubes, y pipe wot @28 degrees
That's Richard's dyno sheet? Looks like it
Hey man I got a question for you. I just ordered the truck norris no springs required cam for my 4.8. I have 5.3 everything else because I blew the 5.3 and have a 4.8 on the side I just gotta throw in to get my truck going. Will I need injectors or will tuning be enough? Also Is a stock fuel pump enough, I just changed it?
Hey Bo Builds, did you ever happen to get a complete Finished Tune? would like to compare where i'm at, thanks
You said you were raising the shift points to 6000 rpm but the dyno graphs i have seen look like its making like thensame power near 7000 rpm which should make you lots faster another 1000 rpm at near peak hp and you rpm drop on the shift will be that much higher in rpm and closer to peak power but i get 4l60e problems
So how much should mine make? 2000 5.3 stage 3 btr cam , 4 inch cold air intake 102mm throttle body, short headers and dual exhaust
Wat was ur vacuum at idle ? Cuz I'm showing 12 inches of vacuum on a 6.0 with a Norris cam??
I still have trouble believing that is an old Chevy. To me an old Chevy is pre 1970
Just installed my cam on my 2010, does it gain anything without the tune? I know for sure it does after but I haven’t been able to tune yet
Great job, can you share your tune to make a comparison ? I'm new to hp tuners and I have no experience and I haven't bought the wide band. I am going to install truck norris cam 212/22x LSA107 my engine 2003 5,3 L59 no cats long headers and air intake, you can help?
Hey man i have the exact same truck and hptuners with pro link and afr. Im totally new to tuning and am struggling with idle tuning. I cant find any info to help lean out afr at idle. Im between 10-11 right now. Is there anyway you could send a compare file so i can see where you made changes and use that to help teach myself. Theres so many settings. I have maf faulted out and o2 sensors and ltft stft off so i can make manual ve adjustments without correction. Ive raised idle rpm and iac to get it idling in gear. I just cant get the dang afr to lean out at idle. It’s great under load. I played around with the stock tune before the cam and learned how to work the ve tables. That part seems pretty smooth. If your willing to share that would be amazing.
By any chance , do you have a file I can download? I have this cam in my 6.0 , with a Holley terminator X . It’s running a bit lean
So you build a new transmission yet? That shift is getting lazy, going to burn the clutch’s like that.
Which Truck Norris cam? .552 or ~,500 (no springs required cam). Settled on Truck Norris for the 5.3 in the 1950 truck and just as I go to order I see there are choices>>>>
Got this cam in 2013 suburban ltz 4x4 and only have cam and springs and cai and it runs ok but the guy that tuned it didn't take the time and with the wife driving it I had to figure out something fast so I got a mail-order tune and it's still not right need some help with issues I'm having
Why do you run 12something air fuel..... what fuel are you running? (Pump/91)?
tighten up those shifts
Say bro I'm new to hptuners was wondering if you could help me out on some tuning side
Did you end up having to upgrade the torque converter?
I didn’t have to but I did a 3600 TCI converter
I have an lm7 5.3 completely stock other than a cheap cold air in my 04 silverado i plan on putting the btr truck norris cam in soon, i just got hp tuners, i was wondering if someone had a tune for a similar set up i could just buy off them and load the file into my ecu, or at least wondering if thats possible to do
or get a 3400 stall
Sounds funny, id hate to have something idle like a hog snorting
Don't have time to install so I'm watching videos, boy oh boy I can't wait! Saved up parts to do a bunch at once, lq4 799 trunion upgrade Trailblazer SS TN cam I have the super 44 FM 488 gear Detroit true track on 35's hell I might have to run taller tires or go to 456 she's already torkey as an old B John Deere.👍
Its a good cam except the rough idle. In a daily driver it would get old fast.
Just, wondering what camshaft this is since BTR offers many different ones.
mmm peak pork!
After all these years there’s still not many people I listen to. 👌🏼
What truck Norris cam is that the NSR 488 LIFT ?
Mmmmm peak pork
There's other mods more effective than a cam imo....and results.
Like a supercharger! Lol I can’t wait to install it next week
@@BoBuilds no..efans ...headers...getting rid of the pe delays. Other shit too. I would like to see the draggy of the cam only before the supercharger tho.
Like I’ve said to others as well. I’ve literally had this truck 2 weeks. Mods are coming trust me
What app your using to tune your truck I just put a stage 2 cam in my 05 gmc
You think it would go good with a 4.8 Silverado? U think it would leave any problems
Do you think 25 oil pressure it’s low for a 6.0 cammed it goes up to 80 psi when I smash on it
I believe the idle spec on them is around 18 but I could be wrong
👀👀👀👀👀👀OOUUUU..... Im just now seeing this Bo, I caaaaint wait till I'm off of work to check this 1 out..... Hell yeahhhh..... Ou, Ou, OUU.... Cam tuning is a must with this 1 Bo.... Lets hear how it chops or rather🤔🙄 sounds normally... Then you slow the idle down to that 750ish range while simultaneously throwing that Bo' s 20+/20- on it.... AWEEE MAN, this is finna be EPIC... WOOOOOI💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿👌🏿👌🏿👌🏿❤️❤️❤️
So this cam is great for towing? Hell yeah. I bought a suburban with the 5.7, looking for similar torque to a 6.0l for towing and just plain enjoyment
This cam is meant for an LS
What was your idle speed set to when you had the choppy idle
On the scanner what exactly are you looking at too diagnose a tune
Thank you. Richard holdener recommended this cam. Just checking to see how you like it so far?
I have this same cam in an LQ4 with 862 heads and my question is, do you have any valve train noise at all with your? I rebuilt this engine with all new parts and LS7 lifters. Only thing reused we’re the rocker arms with a trunnion upgrade.
Cams sometimes make the valves louder thanks to higher lift, headers can also make the valve train sound a little louder
I have noticed the ls7 do have some noise to them. My last one I did was a 224R with pac springs and ls7 lifters and it was loud. I talked to a few people and even tested seat pressure and such and had quite a few people tell me it’s normal
@@patrickbecker2481
Same here with ls7 lifters in a 6.2 with a 224R but I use Lucas oil stabilizer and it helps to quiet down
can you tell me how you did that graph setup please
Doesn't "need" more converter but more converter WILL make it rock!
Yeah 220 degrees of duration and these kids think they need a converter. 🤣
How does the valve train sound. Does it sound like a sewing machine. I got dual springs on mine and it's loud, does yours have the behive springs or dual springs
Your map reading is getting lower at high rpm. Your intake is running out of air. I tuned a btr stage 3 6.0 truck. Cam only. No headers only a cold air intake. It really choked out on top
Not gonna waste money on an intake, she’s getting procharged in a week or so lol, but yeah your right she’s choking for sure
Any cam company can supply you with the specs you want.
What are you running for injectors? Stock or did you need larger?
Is this cam the no springs required truck norris
U definitely look Familiar bro
It’ sounds lazy as hell like a old big block 😅
Which software are you using
Nice info! And nice results with the cam only swap
Hey Bo, I have a 2010 stock 5.3/6l80 truck I am doing exactly as you did w your truck. I am buying the new hptuner devise and a laptop for it. What do you suggest about keeping my stock springs?
I also plan to run e 85 thru the stock system and see how that does.
Bye bye trans. Nice gains thou
I’d suggest playing with torque management
What are your thoughts on a chopacabra cam
what spark plugs did you use ?
I got an lq9 6.0 in a 06 1500 with truck Norris. What size injectors do you think for an E85 flex conversion
There are injector formulas on line.
I just put this cam in my truck same truck but when I'm at WOT my 2-3 shift just slips bad but if I drive it normally it does just fine! I've done a bunch of reading and it's either the clutches or some say it's either to much or not enough line pressure. No idea super new to anything electrical. Is this something you can easily change?
Problem is likely in your trans. Slipping between the same gear changes consistently typically means slipping discs and a trans rebuilt/upgrade will likely be in your future.
I see you got some chop in it. What's it actually sound like? No chop.
What actually setting are you using to add fuel in hp tuner
There goes your trans lol
I got this same Cam in my other single cab with stock trans and still running good a year later
Is your transmission tuned?
i just did mine i have gen 4 what do i adjust to get more vac at idle i lose breaks also what do i adjust to get it to start with no peddle i just need to get it to a shop to do a tune i have hp tuner
How did you gain oil pressure ? After new cam swap ?
He did state he installed a high volume oil pump at the same time, which will increase pressure too.
It’s sounding way better since you adjusted the idle, nice lope. It sounded like a diesel before you set it.
Hey! How much air flow are you getting at idle? Mine is saying 16g/s which seems a bit high for a 6.0.
My SBC 383 with a similar aize cam is about 12-13 @ ~800 rpm.
