Thanks for saying Coach has upped their game! That was my first intro luxury job. The leather was always phenomenal even when the styles weren't the number one. The last few years under the new creative director has really shown what they can do. I have friends who have worked at other top lux brands that used to stop in and buy bags and talk about the quality and those friends worked at brands in the top 5.

Just watched this vid, new sub🙋♀️, wanted to remark that ur your transparency, honesty, & authenticity is much appreciated- I love that U talk abt these bags as if they were all LV bags or coach bags or even reusable shopping bags🛍 haha 😛 Bc you like them and are a fan of them and they interest you and bring you joy etc… You can talk about all of them in detail- when you got each, why you got them, what your opinion of using them is… as well as what you think of new releases and vintage styles you were a fan of, etc. NOT simply bc they’re luxury goods, expensive, or can be hard to get- but bc you genuinely like purses/bags and enjoy following their fashion, which you would prob still enjoy if you never bought so many of them or had to lose most of your collection tom. And that’s why you’re relatable when many others in this space aren’t. That’s why when you talk abt the subject you don’t come across as haughty or stuck up or pompous & snobby- bc *YOU* and who *YOU* are is not defined or determined by the purse you carry… just as it’s unable to be determined by the purse you’re *NOT* carrying. LUXURY BAGS/CERTAIN BRANDS bags ARE investments FOR ME. but like you said only because i buy CERTAIN bags for investments. i 100% do, i did this 2016-2018 and that was my other source of income. i got so good at flipping that i started working part time at my job. but then in 2019 i graduated and went into my grad program, my head was spinning lol, and i stopped really getting into the buy and sell. but the key is, like you said, to buy the bag with the original intent to resell. and yes you are so right about vintage, those are my go to bags. i REALLY WANT the vanity pm sooooo bag but yes it is crazy price

Loved this video Mel. You truly brighten my days. Especially during this time. I am missing my daughter ( and son in law) terribly at the moment as they were in the US on their belated honeymoon/ her 30th Birthday ( my first time not being with my darling daughter for her birthday) when everything started shutting down. They luckily got on the last flight out of the US by Virgin Australia but of course have been in isolation, in a rented holiday house as they live with us but couldn't come home. This is how I relate the word “investment” to the world of luxury goods. In terms of investment as in to make profit, handbags are NOT an investment. Even if we talk about Hermes (except the rare ones), getting a couple thousand profit when you spend tens of thousands and the hoops you have to go through isn’t worth it. However, investment as in paying a little more to get a handbag that you can use for years and can match a ton of outfit and is versatile, then yes, a bag can be an investment.

Like last year, I got the budget to choose between Moynat Rejane and Chanel CF/reissue, and I chose to buy Rejane. I was actually shocked by myself with this decision but no regrets. Even if you were trying to buy a bag for investment, the costs of selling are so high. Even if you sell yourself through PayPal, it has 3% fees and then you have to pay for shipping and insurance. Once those fees come into play, it's really hard to make your money back, let alone a profit. Even worse if you sell directly to Fashionphile or through a platform like Poshmark

Even if you were trying to buy a bag for investment, the costs of selling are so high. Even if you sell yourself through PayPal, it has 3% fees and then you have to pay for shipping and insurance. Once those fees come into play, it's really hard to make your money back, let alone a profit. Even worse if you sell directly to Fashionphile or through a platform like Poshmark
