This whole album is much more mellow than Ayler's big and dark sound found in his other albums. Goin Home is a very interesting album by a very interesting musician
This simply cannot be listened to as serious art Why destroy these magnificent spirituals Either anger rules Or welcome to bedlam He used a big plasticized reed So artificial
What a strange argument, that Ayler's music is somehow artificial because he used a plasticised reed. Would a drummer who uses anything other than hide skins, a bass player who uses steel rather than gut strings, or a singer with dentures be incapable of producing great art? And how would any of us who were not there at the time be able to listen to this music, as all recording technology is surely 'artificial'. For me, any method for the production of music is valid - if you have a need to say something musically, you will find a way, even if it's not the conventional or orthodox way, otherwise how would music have progressed?
Oh God there is no words to describe this !!!!!! one of the most beautiful thing I've heard in my life

Maravilloso.
Only 2.236 views that proves once more time how much the people understand from good music.
And none of those views are from Yo Yo Ma - who can't be said not to know good music.
This stuff just is what it is. ... Peculiar.

So artificial
For me Ayler's music is some of the least artificial and most pure spiritual music I've ever heard.
