@@TyllerBoom thats why in "modern" artillery systems like the german pzh-2000 the muzzle velocity of every single shot is meassured directly in the barrel and automatically calculated in in the artillery controll computer. the temperature differences in a barrel are completly caculated in and make no difference anymore. At least in modern systems, i am not sure wheather american m-109 or m-777 (how can a western country still build towed artillery xd how...) even have meassurement systems to measure the velocity of shots at all. probably not. With that method you also take into account every change and deteroration of the barrel trough attrition. The status of the barrel at the exact time can be taken into account are recalibrated after every single shot. This is by the way also the reason why the second shot is always much more accurate as the first.

Yeah, I recall my Dad telling me he had the "honor" of cleaning up a soldier that had returned from Vietnam so that the guy could go to a ceremony. He later learned the dude called in a strike on his own position and was getting the MoH for doing so. And yeah, the dude was seriously messed up mentally and needed a couple of solders to wash him down and get him dressed for the ceremony. Just a crazy story.

Note from Central Europe about the buildings:
All of these buildings were made fairly at the same time in Central and Eastern Europe (1960's - 1970's) and include a basement which covers the whole building superficie and where the surface is divided equally into "separate lockers", one for each flat.
    Why is this important?
Because each division is made of concrete walls, which creates a surprisingly strong and safe place, even when there are artillery on top.
We live in a similar building here in PL.

My theory about the Russian troops in the building is that they didn't call for an artillery strike. The artillery more likely started when the command lost communication with the Russian forces in the building, and their commanders either didn't want them taken prisoners or assumed to be dead. If dead, they tried to bombard the Ukrainians, who overran the Russians.

If USA will left EU it could trigger bigger problems and make it harder to trade goods from USA (because we need use the money to other things for example).

Ukrainian Forces may soon withdraw from Selydove as Russian advances continue - ISW. Russian forces have recently achieved notable tactical success in and around Selydove. Geolocated footage from Oct. 22 and 23 shows Russian forces advancing along Skhidna Street in the northeastern part of Selydove and further north along Berehova and Zakhysnykiv Streets toward the city center. The footage also confirmed that the Russian forces captured Izmailivka, a village southeast of Selydove in the Pokrovsk district, and advanced toward the northeastern outskirts of Novoselydivka, located to the west of Izmailivka and south of Selydove, as well as into the field's northwest of Tsukuryne, also south of Selidove but north of the Izmailivka-Novoselidivka area.
The Russian advance in Selydove, along with new territorial gains to the south and north of the city, may soon force the Ukrainian Armed Forces to retreat from the area to avoid being encircled.
The Selidovs have 2-3 days left in Ukraine.
We can already say that the defense of Selidovo has fallen. There is no organized resistance. Russian military personnel calmly move along the roofs of houses. At the same time, house-by-house cleaning continues. Selidov’s transition to full control of the RF Armed Forces is a matter of time.

because you talk about verrry precise american airstrikes, thats a big difference to calling unprecise artillery strikes on your position. america had allways the big confort of being able to call an airstrikes within a few minutes on every precise building they wanted to. thats how americans fought since a few decades. american troops wouldnt call in strikes from broken (how is it possible that america still uses towed crap like that) m777 artillery jerks
