Is it that bad!!!!
No not that bad, just ready for a change of pace. Doing the same thing over and over again every day is the bad part.
wherever you go, I know you will do well!
Thanks 👍
Work US Foods in Utah, love my job. I've owned a trucking company done the Dedicated OTR pulling Rocky mountain Doubles, I prefer local. Been doing this for 10 years and happy to love my job. Good luck on your next chapter.
Thank you. Local is definitely a good idea, wouldn't even consider OTR at this point. 👍
We have been lately having alot or long term veterans falling off. A few have gone to OD. I agree it takes a toll on your body but I'm built to work not get through life without hard work
@@jamesmendini aren't the drivers 21 +?
This is short term work.Do this long enough and your body will deteriorate. It's good place to start and gain some experience.
Congratulations,,,!!! I’m sure you will be doing a lot better,,,!!!
After almost 18yrs humping food off trailers, (one hernia and surgery, feet problems and back problems)I left 15yrs ago and got into LTL. Never looked back. Best advice I can give food service drivers is have an exit plan because your body can’t take the pounding forever.
Amen to that. Get your experience, get your money, and get out. These foodservice companies don't care about you. Always be on the lookout for a better position and try not to do permanent damage to your body. It's a good job but I don't recommend it for a career.
My brother in law works for US. FOODS here in Western Washington ! He’s been working for them for lots of years
It's a good job, best of luck to him.👍
@@jamesmendini he was gonna hook me up with his company . But he said it’s too far of a drive for me it’s a 1hr and 21 minutes north bound on interstate 5 up to Fife, WA
Alot of people don't realize how heavy that ramp is, to pull out and put away.
You got that right!
LTL is the industry to work in, in my opinion at least. But it can require LONG days. When I first started I was doing 13 hours daily. Now I’m doing about 12 a day. I work at XPO Logistics . A lot of people seem to complain about them but they’ve treated me very well. Can’t say if I’ll retire here but I have no intentions to leave anytime soon
Sounds good, gotta go where you are happy and feel respected.👍
I went from PFG TO R&L Carriers so much easier and so much better overall
I've tried to get on with a different company doing foodservice at least 2 times and it never happened, after all I've heard about this type of work, I think that might have been a good thing!!
I'm surprised you didn't get hired on because it seems like they are always looking for drivers
@@jamesmendini Yeah and that's their problem. Always hiring because it's a back breaking job, and at the beginning looks like it doesn't pay all that great!
How’s family life working at us foods?
It's normally a Monday - Friday job, so weekends off is good but the 12 plus hour days doesn't leave a lot of time for quality family time.
I just started working at us foods and it’s a cool job the priority of seniority is very annoying tho.
Good luck my fello worker
Thanks you sir👍
Good luck
Thank you Sir. I will be looking forward to seeing your future videos. Keep up the good work that you are out here doing. 👊
Tanker and Hazmat is the way. Save your back.
Good job 👍
How much you made per year?
can u put tape to cover the camera facing the driver?
No
Hey brother. Good luck in the future. Us foods as a company is surly losing a great employee.
Or great losing a surly employee!
Living in a Free Country and having Options is truly a blessing 👍
@@jamesmendini enjoy it whilst we can!
How long did you do food service for? What made you leave and were you satisfied with the compensation? I ask because Sysco wants to bring me on and the money sounds nice but are the hours and pay worth it?
I was in Food service for 15 years. And I would say that it's worth it under certain circumstances. First thing is if you're young you will be fine. But for someone older the work is going to beat up your body.
The hours depend on how fast you can get the product off at your stops, the slower you are the longer your day is gonna be
@@jamesmendini My father was a food service guy for 30 years
Hi James, why did you quit ?
I'm always looking for something better. Don't just stay somewhere because you are comfortable. The goal is to be happy.
@@jamesmendini james, what's better than usf ? They pay well I hear ,no ?
Yes they pay decent, but there's a lot more to life than money. Every job has trade offs and pros and cons. Just consider the whole package.
Im about to start at US Foods after 5 years at beverage industry and after watching a lot of videos about drivers I’ve seen nothing but good things I hope it is that way, im looking forward and am really nervous 😬
You need two things to succeed in foodservice, a good strong young back. Also have to have a group of intelligent management in the office. Without that it's a very difficult journey. But I wish you the best of luck my friend!👍
@@jamesmendini thank you
Im 30 yrs old man and yeah im looking forward to it excited
Shoulda stayed in beverage. Us foods is a horrible company
Where are you going? How can you give up that loot? I've been trying to get on w/ them for years.
Yeah I don't need the money. 60 hour weeks get old after a while. You should have no problem getting onboard they are begging for help. As long as your record is clean. Good luck 👍
@@jamesmendini Dude! Cleaner then clean. Class A. Been trying for years. us foods, reinhard, sysco, mcclain, martin brower. Ever beer and soda. The universe doesn't want me there. But best of luck to you on your next chapter.
@@oldnatty61 Dr.Pepper Snapple will pick you up.
@@heronsmith7945 thanks!
@@oldnatty61 the US foods 20 miles south of Austin Tx is hiring and paying 80k plus 15k sign on bonus and 5k relocation pay. They just called me last week and I didn’t even apply. They had my number from all the times I got unloaded there with my old company.
Where you going now?? Retiring??
Man the food delivery business sucks….
Was it the mushrooms???
Definitely the mushrooms. I'm immediately brought to a state of rage and angry at the sight of any mushrooms.
@@jamesmendini
Lol. Good luck to you. Looks like you have skills doing the work. Should land on your feet wherever you go.
@@slumberpass People used to tell me don't be afraid to find a new job that there is life after foodservice. I certainly do agree with that sentiment.
